You're laughing at them, but there's even more anime that didn't even register enough sales to get data on Oricon.

Warau Salesman did not deserve that kind of failure. It was a good show.

>Warau Salesman
Was this popular back in the day or do the Nips just hate the fucking remake.

From that list I've watched 15 of them, The best were Rurumo and Alderamin.

Did Shiki really do that bad? It was a good show.

2 of my top 10 anime ever

I liked Argevollen, but it doesn't surprise me it flopped.

>Mushibugyo
Fucking JAPS.

I never watched the anime, but the manga was great, so I believe you

I thoroughly enjoyed Warau Salesman, I occasionally put it on when I've got good alcohol to drink and I want to watch a black comedy

For sales purposes, it seems to be better to be a word-of-mouth bad show rather than an unpopular, mediocre show.

how come hand shakers didn't make this list?

>*,*97? Warau Salesman New
watched, dropped
>*,257? Shirogane no Ishi Argevollen
watched, dropped
>*,407? Terra Formars Revenge
watched

Regalia was probably the only one I liked enough to finish. Johan was a mistake but it was a cool attempt at an original show.

>orange
Jesus, didnt know flopped that hard

It was certainly pushed that low because of that fucking hiatus.
It would have never been a smashing hit, but it might have avoided this list.

I can absolutely understand Aku no Hana, considering how badly they fucked up the look.

Sad that Laughing Salesman sold poorly. I really liked it as a late 20s salaryman.

Where's Lotte no Omocha? That sold so bad the author had to buy a bunch of copies just to try and break even (which it didn't)

where's Mayoiga

Don't think Bernard-Jou should be on there; it was a short so that's probably fine.

>Idol Jihen
It was kind of fun, but quite bad. Better when it was just being dumb as fuck though.
>C3-bu
Loved it, fuck you.
>Alderamin
Wasn't bad for a not-isekai fantasy, but suffered from inevitable MC-wank.
>Aku no Hana
Enjoyed the potato art as a change of pace.

I only watched elDLIVE (which was an average shonen show), Idol Jihen (average, on an oversaturated market), C3-bu (they changed the genre halfway, never a good idea), Taboo Tattoo (bland boring copypaste MC, I liked the villains however) and Regalia (hiatus).

>*,*97? Warau Salesman New
>*,272? Shiki
That's sad those two were pretty good

name some

It didn't sell anything.
But in all honesty, that was THE worst fucking animu I ever watched. In fact it was one of the worst shows I watched period.
There was nothing redeemable about it, except Sup Forums threads.
Why? because it was so damn embarrasing and boring.

>*,267? Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu
Dropped it before even reaching the third episode.
>*,272? Shiki
Watched it, loved it. It's a crime it's even on this list.
>*,275? Chaos Dragon
Dropped, couldn't even make it through the second episode.
>*,330? Big Order
Watched it till the end. It was one of those, so bad it's good shows.
>*,346? Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge
Watched the whole thing. It was kinda bad, but I liked it.
>*,404? Aku no Hana
404 is an appropriate number for this dog shit. Dropped somewhere around ep 4-5.
>*,407? Terra Formars Revenge
Watched it; shouldn't have.
>*,408? Tokyo ESP
See above.

Jitsu wa deserved a better anime.

It still sold like a thousand or two. Nowhere near bad enough to make it onto the list.

I had to google the title. I watched the show but completely forgot about it. Kakeru should have stayed dead.

What about girls last season?

>*,257? Shirogane no Ishi Argevollen
>*,272? Shiki
They deserved better. The rest can go flop in hell for all I care.

What about M3?

Of all those, only Mahou Sensou impressed me with how shit it was. A dozen plots, nothing resolved and the last episode was fucking time travel.

>Shirogane no Ishi Argevollen

A shame, the second half was pretty decent.

twitter.com/somekindofthing/status/949488846642860037

what went wrong

Watched Shiki and enjoyed it, read Jitsu wa and enjoyed it. I read Terra Formars but stopped a little after the second cast was introduced, that's it really.

glad Flip Floppers flopped, pile of shit

...

>*,292? Tenkyou no Alderamin

But why? This a solid story as far as LN goes.

>*,*97? Warau Salesman New
Jesus, how did this do so badly.

This is what happens when they change the voice from the manga

>Warau Salesman New
Not surprising seeing how mediocre it was.

damn thought Shiki would at least break 1000

Nip producers thought Osomatsu's success meant japs wanted remakes of old properties, when in reality they just want more yaoi-bait

>Shiki
>C3-Bu
>Bernard-Jou
>Mushibugyo
Rip in pizza

Where is Glasslip?

DO NOT BULLY THE SALESMAN

Imagine being an animator or voice actor working on one of these flops. Must be depressing as fuck wasting all that effort away especially on some of the shows that look like the anime equivalent of shovelware

t-these are before accounting handshakers, ousama game and evil or live, yeah?

orange and shiki deserved better

Butchered in sales by LL Sunshine like literally every other show that season, not to mention running alongside a bunch of other shit like Re:Zero
Even the Prilya had a poor outing in comparison

They are already paid.

And is inevitable working on some failed shows.

It's not shovelware, just a flop. As long as you had a good time during production and did your best work, it's hard to feel too bad that the marketing folks couldn't wring out some cash.

Most of those shows are one the same quality of trash that sells 2-4k copies
Also pretty sure most of them only care about getting paid enough to survive

taboo tattoo was uh ok
big order was ok
jitsu was ok
eh thats about it

Besides, "Flop" doesn't mean "bad". They might still ahve enjoyed it.
Like Kill me Baby, I wonder why it wasn't on any list I found, because it sold very badly. But it's still a lot of fun, I rewatch an episode or two once in a while.

Too bad we have no proper comparison to stuff from before 2009 or so.
There must have been asome atrocious failures back then.

Although, anything right after the financial crash would be sort of at an unfair disadvantage

Even if they get decent paid for that work, it has to suck because they don't get more recognition which can lead to bigger roles/more money. For all I know, one of these flops could have cost some people future work/their jobs.

I might be completely off though, so excuse my ignorance

Everything, it was trash as soon as meteora started talking.

They got the opportunity to work with a director and some other actors who now know them better. That kind of socializing is far more reliable at career growth than star power one might generate off of an unexpected hit.

>*,224? orange
Aww. I loved this show, but I must have been the only one who did.

It was pretty decent, the anti-climactic ending really put me off though.

>the author had to buy a bunch of copies
jesus that's sad. and embarssing to hace even mentioned

correct me here
3k is break-even
7k is good
+14k is great
yes?

Yeah I get the feeling they were going for a second season but alas.

The only people who are hit when a show performs badly is the producer and the company that distributed it. The studio and VAs have already been paid before the numbers get in.

Seriously, name some.

>C3-bu
>237

>*,272? Shiki
Loved it. Sad to see it flop.
>*,330? Big Order
One of the most terrible anime I ever watched.
>*,339? Mangirl!
It was an ok slice of show.

Michiko to Hatchin

The manga had such a unique look compared to most stuff today (more of a mid 90's style) with great attention to detail artwork.

The anime took all that and made it look like generic, modern shit. One of the worst adaptions ever made. So bad it damaged the manga's reputation and it wrapped up soon after.

That dog shit should've been buried in the desert a la E.T. the videogame.

I remember C3-bu and Tokyo ESP were great

Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu was such a shitty show.

Good thing Sabagebu came along quickly after and showed everyone you can make a good anime about airsoft.

I hope Stella really hurt Gainax. What a miserable piece of shit.

>sales thread
Are you sure these were flops? Wouldn't you have to look into the books of the involved companies to find out if the shows flopped?

You must have Alzheimer's, user.

It's good because it tells producers what kind of shows they should avoid making. Also this one:

>**,719 Dies Irae

kek

Urahara is going to sell less than 100 for sure.

>*,404? Aku no Hana
It hurts. It's literally not as bad as it was memed to be

These are the shows with the lowest on-record sales. It's possible the accountants worked some kind of magic to save them, but with sales these low it's unlikely anything else sold well either

>Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu
>Shiki
>Regalia
like these three
especially C3 was fantastic

someanithing.com/8722

damn LL raping everything

Dies Irae was fully crowdfunded though, whatever it sold was already profit.

>Warau Salesman
I love the original and like the remake.
But that doesn't matter. What does matter is would you a Moguro, Sup Forums?

>yaoi-bait

>tfw you watched all of them
Though I dropped like 2/3 of that list. I would say the only decent ones in the list are Shiki and Rurumo. Also had hopes for Regalia but it was fucking trash, I'm sure it has finally killed 2D mecha.

And the OP and ED were really good.

>people spent money upfront for the abomination that was Dies irae

Absolutely fucking nothing. That was an astronomical flop because it was a cross-media project with a vita game and everything. M3 is the kind of anime that no one will remember because no one watched.
Okada is an expert flop maker, she has a good track record for flops:

>(2014) **,*** M3
>(2016) **,*** Mayoiga
>(2016) **,858 Kiznaiver
>(2006) **,*** Sasami: Magical Girls Club
>(2011) **,785 FRACTALE

Yeah most of those were shit. I didn't know ''Orange'' flopped, though. I didn't like it but the visuals were decent if I remember correctly.

>Mushibugyo
That was pretty good for a shounen battle power bullshit.

>kek
You have to go back.

whopping 37 threads on Sup Forums

Orange was a QUALITY fest, dude

It wasn't that good but I'm still glad it existed.

The VN was also crowdfunded. It's just how Dies Irae works.

>**,*** Mayoiga
Makes me happy

Aku no Hana was great.

Considering Shiki is one of the best of a handful of actual horror anime, I guess there really isn't a lot of room or interest for horror stories in the industry. What a shame.

>**,***
How does something get absolutely 0 sales? Surely at least a few dozen copies will get sold right?

I liked Nanbaka and Terra formars, too bad they didn't do well :(

>*,343? Nanbaka
I thought this would do really well with the fujo market.

If it sells too little then the tracking thing does not record it, so it's not an absolute zero
