Google only turns up answers about the manga
What is the order that I should watch Re:Zero in?
Don't.
Why not let me decide for myself whether its shit or not? I have the time to spare.
i'd suggest from episode 1 to 25
First eight episodes starting with episode 12, then last 4, and finally the rest skipping the ones you've already watched.
don't, it's fucking terrible
Don't.
Either you are going to not like it and feel you wasted your time or you are going to like and find out what you watched was a big fucking piece of shit. It's probably one of the worst adaptions in recent anime. They completely butchered characters, Rem is the best example. The anime director didn't like Rem because he felt she wasn't "Heroine material", so the anime consistently cut her scenes. They didn't just stop at cutting her scenes. They consistently cut all of the MC feelings for her too. You probably already know of the "I love Emilia" scene where Rem gives a extremely moving confession and the MC says I love another girl at the end. In the LN (the source material of the anime) it made Subaru's feelings for her(Rem) clear and infact Subaru confesses to Rem later so it didn't really matter. Also they decided that Subaru confessing to Rem "takes away the impact" of her being rejected so they decided to cut that too. Even through its kind of a important plot/character development point. The LN also had a fake happy end right before the reveal of the real ending of the arc but the anime decided to end on the fake happy ending.
Watch in this order
Episode 4 > 1 > 2 > 3 > 6 > 10 > 25 > then the rest can be any order, wont matter.
>the anime director didn't like Rem because he felt she wasn't "Heroine material", so the anime consistently cut her scenes.
Oh and I forgot to add that the actual author considers Rem a heroine, the "rising heroine" in his words. And he gave her a heroine's screentime and a heroine's role in the story too but the anime director thought the character with a 10% in the popularity polls was a better than the one that polled at 50%.
Re:Zero is really good if you like reading.
>Re:Zero is really good if you like reading.
forgot to add the manga is shit just like the anime because it copies the anime instead of the LN.
>director thought Rem wasn't heroine material
>even the vast majority who watched the anime disagree
She's not the heroine in a conventional way, but isn't one of the things that not everyone goes exactly as the protagonist expects it too? That would include the cute oni maid being the true love interest, not the beautiful elf princess.
Not meaning to shit on Emilia, but she just wasn't convincing as the love interest. Things before and even after "I love Emilia" fly in the face of it.
*everything
Rem is pretty much is the heroine in a conventional way from the way I see it, she gets the most scenes from her perspective which I think is the deciding factor, Emilia doesn't get anything like that and or really does anything at all during arcs 1-3. Emilia does get that treatment in arc 4 but it simply doesn't have the effect that Rem's had.
Plus Rem actually gives support to the MC which is a main heroine thing to do, Emilia only did that once and it was because of Puck. Rem's scene even did the name drop and is always referred to as From:Zero.
>but she just wasn't convincing as the love interest
Well that's because she's actually a 13-15 year old in a 100 something year old body that appears to be 18.
I meant Emilia resembles the girl who would typically be the heroine/love interest, at least that's definitely how the director definitely viewed her and arguably Subaru treated her that way. But in actually she feels like she fits that role only superficially, like she was pigeonholed into it. Rem better fits the bill.
*in actuality it feels
Gotta proofread.
You should know by now (if you were paying attention) that every arc goes
- apparently nice things are happening, I do hope unexplained events from the last arc don't foreshadow something important being fucked up
- SOMETHING IMPORTANT IS FUCKED UP AND NEW RESTORE POINT AFTER IT'S FUCKED
while (true):
-- [restore point]
-- attempt to unfuck thing
-- die
- thing is unfucked now and surely nice things will happen
It would make no sense to end an arc with the start of the next one, particularly when it's not going to air. Just leave the blank letter and the eraser monster, and let the viewer work it out.
That kind of comes from the way the Tappei wrote the story. He writes very organically except for Emilia where most the interactions of the characters are improvised, Rem and Subaru’s chemistry is pretty much an accident which makes it them so great.
>with the start of the next one
The ending of Arc 3 isn't the start of Arc 4, dumbass. It's the end of Arc 3. It has some relevance to Arc 4, as all Arcs have further relevance to the next one.
Arc 4 isn't about Rem being in a coma. Arc 4 is about Sanctuary. Rem's coma is integral to Subaru's mental state and overall very relevant to him in particular, but she continues to be so throughout several Arcs. If they introduced the Sanctuary shit, that'd be moving into Arc 4 territory.
Except you know giving it the proper ending would actually have given it some impact instead of the shit we got.
>Just leave the blank letter and the eraser monster, and let the viewer work it out.
The eraser monster was dead and the blank letter wasn’t explained. Nobody who watched it and didn’t read would know what the blank letter meant. And the eraser monster wasn’t the one that erased her.
>Rem's coma is integral to Subaru's mental state and overall very relevant to him in particular,
Hahaha not anymore after the LN changes
Oh, it still is. It might not be written as strongly, but he'd have had to butcher the Arc a lot fucking more to remove it completely.
I also found this order most enjoyable.
You underestimate their abilities.
Also isn’t the LN being managed by the same company that fucked up kemono friends?
>re:life
>re:monster
>re:zero
>re:creators
You should finish re:zero then read the prequels
>You underestimate their abilities.
No, I read scenes directly from the LN Arc 4. That's why I know it's not as good. That's also how I know it's still there. The entire thing would fall apart if it wasn't there in some capacity.
Even if it was weakened as much as it possibly could be without completely trashing the plot of the entire Arc, it'd still be left as integral to Subaru's mental state.
Basically, you could compare it to what the anime did with Rem. It cut a bunch of her scenes and weakened or changed a bunch of others in various ways. It made her look more passive and submissive, and quite a bit slower. It weakened scenes that showed how close she and Subaru were and how much he was depending on her even after her speech.
But even after that, Rem still had to be somewhat important or the whole story would have fallen apart.
