not buying your mangas is what went wrong
Being a bunch of bitches. Taking muranase off how dare they
>DDOS attacks
Who wants to bet Daiz is behind it?
>buying mangas
Look at Rockefeller over here
I only consume asian comics by torrenting scans of completed licensed translations
Batoto was shit though. Delisting manga because of sexual content or whatever, ridiculous
Hiring snowflake moderators.
gohanblan.co
According to the forum post on the matter, not having anyone else able to do critical maintenance on the site besides the owner.
Honestly?
They tried to be "legit" so any DMCA claim they got they removed the series that lead to many series being orphaned, they also at the start they were in the whole "respect the group policies" because they wanted to groups to only upload to them so you ended up with series starting half way because the group that did the first part didnt allow hosting.
This was their problem, I am not going about the "too lewd for Google" because that was beyond stupid and when they lost adSense (and they would, Google would drop then) because the main issues was they were always trying to please others and not the readers and in the end none of the publishers wanted to turn then into the CR of Manga that I think was Batoto ultimate endgame.
>mangas
>mangas
looks like it's back to reading on group sites for me
rimple dimple
Getting baited this hard
was batoto really that good? what are the other options? goddess? are there translations or are just raws?
mangarock dot com
They killed them
It used full image quality and didn't downsample the res and add watermarks like other sites.
Goddess is dead
Next best site?
it was the biggest site with uncompressed images, with a good feature set
they had unpopular policies as noted in this thread, but they were generally pretty good
Goddess is different from Batoto, I don't really think most scanlators bother with getting approval from admins, hell I don't really think they'd bother even with registering since it'd seem bothersome to people in general.
Asuming they have an official release in the first place.
For some, this means
Sorry in advance for being retarded, but how can I go about downloading the mangas I read on batoto? Some of the groups that uploaded them no longer exist and deleted their websites for whatever reason.
Well shit.
If nothing else it was a good site to use to find new manga and to follow scanlator groups. Had one of the best RSS feeds for following multiple series as well.
dropped
Lurk more.
Well, the madokami shills are finally sleeping?
Those shills we're fucking fucking annoying, let me say that.
It's literally the best website for manga though.
I've been here on Sup Forums for years man, I am just mentally slow as all fuck
I'll never understand these "ok guys, I'm done, site's going down" shits when your site has millions of hits daily. Just fucking give the keys to someone else, what the fuck is wrong with you.
>I've been here on Sup Forums for years
How to spot the newfag
Why the fuck would anyone shill it?
>Near 40% was bots/scrappers to host on other sites
The problem with Goddess is that besides the bandwith problem (they are currently in panic mode), people got most stuff from Batoto, and getting approved by the admins to upload shit there is a pain in the ass.
That's not an excuse for not dumping the database, though.
>using Bacucko
>not MangaRock
It was only matter of time before the clearly superior choice got it's time to shine.
Fuck Batoto and their DMCA takedowns and delisting bullshit just because the art is "too lewd"
Literally who?
is this like horriblesubs but for jap comic books?
Wanna translate that for me? Which parts of that explains why he doesn't give the thing to someone else? He can quit and still leave everything in tact.
Bet Google has that problem. Oh no, does that mean something?
So what? You either try to find a solution for that or live with it because whatever you make that you decide will become a hub for manga reading and gives quality will have that problem. I bet the shit sites have that problem too.
Not that user but Batoto is the only website with Violence Jack on a non-Japanese translation
>What is happening?
bato.to
The admin of bato.to announced that he will shut down the servers in Jan 28th 2018. The forums will stay open until further notice
>Why should I care?
If you're on Sup Forums just to shitpost about DBS and BnHA, this will not really affect you all that much. But for those of us who read manga even semi-regularly, this will mean less manga to read overall.
>But why should I really care though? I use Kissmanga/Mangahere/Madokami/whatever
This is not about the readers, but the scanlators. Bato.to is the only decent and well-established website for scanlators to upload their work and having it reach a sizable audience. Uploading a chapter to bato.to means that your work automatically gets shared to other aggregator sites through scraper bots. Loosing batoto means putting another hurdle between scanlators and reader, and many of them will just quit instead of forcing themselves through the trouble of setting up their own website.
>b...but muh sekrit club
The sekrit club won't have any content if there aren't any scanlator to make them. Doesn't matter what you use, this is a net loss for the community as a whole.
>So what now?
As we've seen when nyaa.se close down, replacements will pop up to take its place. They'll fight until one or two remain, at which point things will stabilize. But damage will be done, scanlators will be lost and manga will remain on hiatus forever.
that's retarded
Does this mean I have under 3 weeks to download all the manga in the planet?
Didn't they remove tons of """"problematic"""" manga? Fuck them
>and getting approved by the admins to upload shit there is a pain in the ass
Is it? When I requested an account for uploading shit the only question the guy asked was how often I upload. I told him once a month and he gave me the user/pass right away.
?
>Oh no, does that mean something?
Are you seriously comparing a billions dollar company that has their hands in multiple tech sectors to a shitty little pirate site?
Only true point of action is to learn Japanese.
No, it's already downloaded somewhere. You have 3 weeks to pray that something pops up right away and every one accepts it and moves there and nothing changes.
Except for me fixing my 400 fucking manga on motherfucking Tachiyomi, fucking fuck.
Yeah
>All that Batoto
Way to prove his point.
They'll most likely disable new registration, honestly. I don't think the servers would be able to new influx of users.
And if you weren't fucking stupid you'd realize 40% is 40% for everyone.
I do wonder though, what will be the last chapter uploaded to Batoto?
well, time to start the 3 year way to learn moonrunes
>Except for me fixing my 400 fucking manga on motherfucking Tachiyomi, fucking fuck.
Aw shit
He's literally circling around the question to avoid giving a clear answer, how's that explaining anything?
>The details are brutal, and "more help" won't solve the biggest problems and stress causers behind the scenes
What the fuck is this supposed to mean?
They're currently in a panic mode because of a hard drive failure, not because of bandwidth problems.
BL, probably
Aw shit you're right. So Kissmanga on tachiyomi it is then.
It means he's sick of working a full time job for no pay. Being the sole admin of such a large site is a six figure career in some places, this dude has been doing it on the side for free.
>learn
the guvment probably wanted them to stop spreading illegal manga
Just literally knowing it exists gives him stress.
Rather than close the site he should get mental help.
What is it?
All the helpers in the world won't be able to protect him from Daiz.
True, that fucking menace. When will he be stopped?
My guess, some legal issues with NDAs.
Never. He will keep getting away with it.
This is the point where you make sure your MAL list is up to date.
A contributor on the Tachiyomi Discord has a version that lets you batch-replace bato.to sourced manga with other sources.
As demonstrated by the last couple threads, having to use IRC is enough of a deterrent.
Is MangaRock actually full res like Batoto though?
>he's not already multiple years into his studies
I mean, part of the issue is that there's no other decent sources but I'll give that a try. Thanks.
Gee, I sure have a couple dozen thousand dollars lying around to finance a full translation and licensing of a series just so I can legally read it.
>400 manga
>tachiyomi
Animebytes and here, huh? You're really torn up about this.
Honestly I download most of my manga; so it's not a huge deal for me, but not being able to take a quick look at what a friend recommends me is going to suck.
Why not just store the manga locally? It's not like manga pages are huge in file size.
Fucking This.
Where do you download your manga from? If it's anything centralized, it scrapes from batoto.
>tfw stopped all my seeding to further fuck the batotocucks
The OP said the mods have the database dumps.
Not him but sometimes you wanna read it either on your phone to pass time or read it when using a computer that isn't yours. Who the fuck is gonna login their account on a public computer or something?
Downloading is definitely the best option, but it's not always the most practical one unless you only live at home all year long, which is what most people wanna do but can't.
''I will, under no circumstances, give anyone a full backup of the site or database'' from the admin's first post. bato.to
"Going forward, some of the staff members have and still are in the process of backing up the entire Batoto comic content as they have been notified of this decision well in advanced."
He meant he's not going to give backups of things like user information or posts.
SJW as mods, and this
Gotta vent man. ;_;
Downloading old stuff doesn't really matter. It would be extremely time consuming to do through Tachiyomi (not to mention it'd be like over 100 GBs on the low end) so I'd just use Madokami instead so no rush to download anything (unless Madokami decides to go as well). The real issue is keeping up with anything new.
Nobody said anything about translations, fucking brainlet
I can't read Japanese, though. Buying the Japanese manga and reading a scanlation online is cheating and it does not show any sign of demand for translated manga to the rightsholders.
I thought of manga first when saw database honestly, who cares about forums? And wouldn't simply dumping the database related to manga make the job easier for those who want to create a new Batoto? I know jack shit about this though so the question may sound retarded.
Unrelated question, but since it's a thread about manga, tell me how do you discover manga worth reading? There is so much of this stuff, no one can read even small part.
Link to the thread?
Too lazy to check archive
The owner got burned out.
i lurked more
Great news. 90% of scanlations are poorly translated garbage and deserve to disappear. If you're not reading manga in Japanese, then don't read it at all.
Then name one Batoto alternatives
