Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom

Don't recall ever seeing this show discussed here, curious about what Sup Forums thinks about it?

I thought it was quite good, though things got a bit shaky towards the end imo.
Mainly Cal's reasoning for hating Zwei, the fact that someone thought it was a good idea to assassinate Zwei after he ran away with Ein when they are no longer a threat. Killing the only thing someone has is a good way to cause a bloodbath

I found that the ending to be was pretty sad, but fitting, no one really deserved to be happy in the end.

I really like the OP and the soundtrack in general.
Who was best girl Ein obviously

I found the ending fitting and unfitting.
It makes more sense than anything to have them die, but thought the execution behind it was shit.
Never felt that way about Cal, though.
I liked it a lot until the third act. It wasn't all that great in comparison, since I didn't care about Scythe Master enough.
Drama focus behind first and action focus behind second were awesome

They tried to cramp all arcs into one anime so the boss and the ojousama felt underdeveloped. Also school life arc is pointless.

I loved the first two arcs, but abhorred the third in all regards. It destroyed my head canon for the characters' ages, ruined everyone's character, and was just an enormous step down. It was a real shame.

Also OP1 is brilliant. Karma is a fantastic song.

>flat chested 12 year old
>2 years pass
>turns into a titty monster that looks early 20's

that wasn't very subtle

Is this what the Japs think of their age of consent?

The first 10 episodes were great. Went into dogshit after that.

>implying this isn't the actual ending

I remember watching it years ago and enjoying it, but I don't recall most plot details anymore.

The VN was better. Finale of Erin's story was great. Song was great too. I don't know why the anime changed it

>Ein

...

Did they ever have some high tension fuggin or what?

Archives are a thing, use it.

...

People bitch about DTB S2 but this was the real travesty.

That was ridiculous too and she in particularly got the shortest end of the stick after that time skip.

I liked the first OP

After reading into the VN endings, the Southbound option sounds like it would have been better imo. Essentially the story would end after 18.

>Cal dies in the explosion, somber end to her character but gives us some closure
>Event's of 18 stay the same minus the Cal bit
>still get to see the fight between Ein and Zwei and the confession (imo favorite scene)
>escape to mexico, they didn't end kill scythe master, but at least they are with eachother now
maybe skip to the last part of episode 26 where they start searching for Elen's trail and show them together both looking at the Mongolian sky, minus the whole both of them dying part.

I heard that the VN writer even thought the end of the show was a bit too gloomy.

I remember liking it except for Cal, shitty characters handled badly tend to ruin shows. I seem to remember they both died together in the end, which is about the best bad end in my opinion since it's at least romantic in a twisted way. Maybe I'm getting confused, it's been quite a few years.

Yeah that really messed it up for me age wise.
I expected Zwei to be around 19-20 by the time he officially becomes Phantom and has that sort of playboy outward personality. Zei is about the age I expected, 14-15 ish at the beginning of the show. But time skip Cal is such sore thumb, she's riding large sportbikes at 14, come on.

Having Zwei being 15 at the beginning seems odd after I found out, he seems more like 18ish Probably all for the sake of the school part I suppose.

I heard there was actually a time gap between Zwei and Ein's death, I am not totally sure how that works, I think someone said they have different backgrounds in each of their death scenes.

why the fuck do people think urobuchi is a good writer ??? he only writes shit for edgy teens i like the 1st half of the showt tho

>no ending where Ein and Zwei get married and adopt Cal and become humble farmers in Mongolia
JUST

When Urobuchi thinks the ending is too grimdark, you know you fucked up.

All I remember was Claudia is the best girl

...

Ending was garbage, Cal's entire character was stupid.

I mainly liked it for the designs and the first half.

this

how can one girl be so great?

One of the worst shows I've had the displeasure of watching. Why I kept with it is amazing in hindsight.

I thought young Cal was fine, but old Cal was a waste of time better spent on Ein.

I can't say I am to familiar with his work, honestly.

...

Old Cal is the best. People just don't understand her that's all.

Urobuchi loves despair and having his characters sink in it.
But in his pre Fate/zero works, love always triumphs at the end even at the cost of ruining everything else.

The ending of the anime is not like Urobuchi at all.

...

...

The OP is one of the best ever.

My autism is kicking in, does no one in this show understand that ballistic vests exist?
Lizzie and Cal should've had the common sense to wear a vest.

I expected that ending and was not surprised, but it still sucks.

I wish they died in each others arms instead of just him getting shot and she eats a flower elsewhere.

i really liked all bee train girls with guns anime, i dont think this is the best one of them but it was pretty good, i could be biasd by nostalgia, i dont think i would watch or enjoy an anime like this one nowadays, but im glad i watched back in the day

i miss bee train

I remember those discussions about how the loli grew so fast...

I keep mixing it in with the Madlax and Noir trilogy.

Too many timeskips and recap episodes

Decent OP

Ein was a qt

Is it wrong that I'd be okay with my memory being deleted and being force to become an assassin along as I got a qt assassin gf to take care of?

The fun part is that the blonde doctor was essencially fucking a mentally fucked up 15 years old boy.

Cal wanted the Zwei's D All for herself.

really enjoyed it up until the timeskip

everything after that timeskip took a massive shit on the prior plot and character developments.

Was she a doctor?

Are manga rips available somewhere? I really need them, even if raw.

cute ein

what was Sup Forums's favorite scene?

I liked this anime. But the last arc and the ending didn't suit my tastes.
Finishing this anime and DTB gave me a feeling that I haven't had ever since.

>this is a 14 year old

The OP was amazing.

Do anons remember Noir or Mexican lesbians / Taco taco?

...

>tfw want to make some webm's but I am a brainlet that doesn't torrent
What do you guys use to torrent? I have no experience with such things.

I do, I don't know if I ever got higher than tv quality though without searching for it.

Noir had an amazing choir song. Save us or something.

Yeah, El Cazador was the weakest of the Bee Train trilogy, so it'd okay to substitute it with Phantom.

I haven't watched any of the bee trains besides Phantom, what would you recommend to watch next?

Salva nos?
I liked when Ellis used her power to make ice in a drink in the last episode, but Nadie didn't want her using her power anymore for some reason.

Noir. Also try gunslinger girl.

Yeah that's it.

Hell of a song.

>short haired girls with guns
my interests are piqued

...

i love the style

...

Noir had a strong first episode then it became boring as hell.

I just wanted Cal to be happy, the car scene and watch scene were fucking killers.
