WHEN IS GODDESS GOING TO END PANIKKU MODO
So... what's the panic about even? Batoto rose when MangaFox fell out of favor due to some drama I barely remember at this point.
From the site admin post it seems he just got tired of managing it, there will be a new site - a slew of them, in fact - that will try to pick up the slack to the same standard.
Literally just read the fucking pastebin, you cum guzzling slut.
Yes, from what it seems like Sup Forums gave up.
What the fuck is happening to batoto and why should I give a fuck when megukami is a thing
So have any of you finally learned that streaming is a horrible idea regardless of whether it's video or just images?
Based on everyone mewling for a replacement, I'm guessing not.
Sad panda could be next, start downloading now.
Batoto is ded.
It was great for smaller scanlation groups who didn't have anywhere to host their shit, which is why I'll miss it.
There are small teams that just upload to batoto instead of buying a domain and start hosting their projects there.
Batoto being closed means less scanlations.
Also, most of those aggregator sites scrape from Batoto, so you can also expect less shit on on Kissmanga, Mangahere, or whatever the crap you usually use.
It just moved to IRC.
Time to manually change my 1000+ manga on Tachiyomi to other sources...
"Streaming" manga and downloading it is virtually the same (you're seeing the exact same file).
People who download won't be able to download anymore if the scanlators don't have a place to put their shit.
The probably wasn't it dying, the problem was that lots of groups don't upload to a file hosting source for DDL.
>he doesn't know
Thankfully most of the ones I give a shit about had a mediafire/MEGA. One even gave out the full jap and eng scrips in a text file with each chapter, which is really nice of them.
DDL links can just expire or disappear.
Meh, I knew Batoto was on it's way to downfall when they started removing licensed manga and stuff with "sensible content".
>"Streaming" manga and downloading it is virtually the same (you're seeing the exact same file).
HAHAHAHA. Good joke. Or are you really that naive?
>scanlators don't have a place to put their shit
Yeah, it really sucked how Mediafire, Mega, and a hundred other free file hosting sites all got shut down yesterday too. Oh wait, no they didn't.
Fuck off retard
megukami rips shit from batoto. also, there'll be a huge refugee movement to megukami and your 'Sekrit Club' won't be so sekrit anymore.
>go to batoto
>download page per page
>make a zip and put them on the goddess
>now the quality is better
This is completely different from video streaming, don't kid yourself.
Also, enjoy those file not found and takedowns, or even "daily quota exceed" on MEGA.
Oh, that is, if you can even find the link for the DDLs, since most scanlators have no blogs.
Oh fuck, same here. Except I use MangaRock.
First time i heard of batoto, is it like mangapanda?
>put it on mega
>everyone will magically find the link
>fug
>>>/ebin/
Eternal reminder the best current solution for small scanlators is Reddit.
Why?
Because you can search for titles easily on it, so small groups can throw up an imgur album with a MEGA folder and a link to their blog in the description and people will actually be able to find it.
There's a better thread here:
"streaming" is only a worse experience than download if you have shit internet and turning pages takes forever.
Thank god my country has it's own "batoto".
Does imgur still compress galleries?
Yes.
Russia or Japan?
You forgot to add "until the only site that doesn't recompress their uploads gets shut down." That's the biggest reason that streaming is ALWAYS a horrible idea. Everyone ditches the responsibility of archiving on a single party who eventually gets shut down or just tired of it.
>your 'Sekrit Club' won't be so sekrit anymore.
I hope so, that something that would be genuinely hilarious and well deserved.
that's*
Except meguca exists and is has superior backups to random ddl links spread around everywhere.
You have to go to settings and select "Upload images in high quality".
It still has their names and release schedule you lazy fuck, all you need to seach away.
Filesize looks the same to me, so maybe not? Although admittedly that's only a single image, I don't know if it automatically compresses large groups.
>muh quality
>90% of scanlators still use jpg
So, any alternatives? I really liked how easy it was to track manga with it
File is different but could just be stripped metadata or more losless compression.
I think they handle pngs fine issue would be if they up compression on jpgs.
>when megukami is a thing
The batoto rippers? They will shamelessly beg on scanlator websites and scanlation threads for "please upload to the goddess" more often now, that place only has a few uploaders who actually brave through many scanlator websites to get the stuff and upload it the the database.
More like betatoto
The point is that the goddess shouldn't need to exist. It's great that it does, but it shouldn't even be a factor in discussions like this. Everyone should take responsibility for archiving anything they care about so there's nothing to complain about when this happens. Being reliant on a central authority gives up all control that you have over the situation in exchange for minor conveniences.
So everyone complaining about this now clearly never really cared about what they've lost to begin with.
Just use one of the many manga apps and be done with it.
I don't have a tablet though
Why is lurk still dead?
the megookami database has been cultivated since before batoshit was even a thing you retard.
you're not making any sense. am i supposed to archive series i didn't even know about?
i keep the series i read, but that's not the issue. the issue is with finding and reading new (or old) series. that's what kami is for.
at least that's the case when you're not a subhuman onlinereaderfag
Because megukafags tried to replicate it and lurk died in the process.
>the issue is with finding and reading new (or old) series.
Ah, see, you're asking me to care about newfags. I don't. They can all go die in a fire.
>The point is that the goddess shouldn't need to exist.
Why? This is obvious case where centralization is good.
>Being reliant on a central authority gives up all control that you have over the situation in exchange for minor conveniences.
It's the only consistent way have backups of lots of manga, how else will you roganize 5TB+ backups of 100k+ files.
>it's
Hang yourselves, retards.
I hate that so fucking much.
Could you even make money with a site like Batoto?
>has been cultivated since before batoshit was even a thing you retard.
So what made you guys get lazy and become batoto rippers then?
You ever actually scanlate something? File hosting sites are useful, but they aren't the same solution that Batoto was. Say you scanlate something for Sup Forums and put each chapter up on mega or whatever. Great right? Not so fast. It won't be long before you get newfags coming around asking where they can get the older chapters. You can put all the links in a pastebin so you can post that and they'll actually fuck off and stop bothering you. For a while. Eventually links expire from disuse or being reported because idiots posted the pastebin all over the internet, and you've got more retards nagging you about broken links, and you have to reupload shit. You could make a torrent for older chapters instead, but then you've got to worry about making up to date torrents, and you get people whining about older stuff not being seeded. Alternatively you could upload your scans to Batoto, who'd keep it the same quality you uploaded it at. Half the actively maintained aggregator sites scrape them from Batoto, and the other have scrape it from those. Morons can read it on whatever shitty aggregator they use, smarter people can read it on Batoto, and generally no newfags are so dumb that they can't find old chapters, and you can go on scanlating in peace. Now the easy option of uploading to Batoto is going away. That's going to make for some annoyance for a while as people work out alternatives.
Yes of course, just fill with shady ads, Manga Fox has been around for 11 years and they make 20k per month.
>Batoto is ded.
Good
He's talking about himself and 99,9% of people who browse here. Now, explain why we should care about your "opinion" instead, and why I should think that someone like is more worthy than us to not "die in a fire".
You know who he is talking about.
Honest question, were you even an active scanlator when IRC was the norm?
>asking someone publicly to create a criminal conspiracy
because people actually started using online readers. ever since mangatraders the point has always been to collect manga from whichever place you can.
you're not making any sense.
i'm not sure what the fuck you do but i only go hunt for a series once i decide to read it or put it in my backlog.
Manga Fox
Where is the batoto server hosted, anyway?
It's not necessary, is it?
Either use Chrome to run the apk, read on your phone, or well, buy one for like 30€, you don't need a fucking iPad.
>free site for scanlators to upload work and is organized and hosted
>no watermarks or file quality changes
>Sup Forums hates it
They could kill the internet and you would celebrate how finally newfags can't read manga anymore.
You press Chat in their website header, and then go to the discord.
MangaFox is run by the entertaintment megacorporation NOEZ
I guess it's time to subscribe to /r/manga.
Sup Forums never finishes a project. Never.
Honestly the site was only good to have lossless files and spread shit around but their crackdown on smut and ecchi was so terrible I'm glad they're going down in the hope the successor won't repeat the same shit.
No, but I did read stuff then. It wasn't a bad way of distributing stuff. The problem is that audiences are larger these days, and far too many of them can't figure out IRC or ftp servers. Aggregator sites fill in that gap with little hassle to you, and something like Batoto is the best of them. What's more, people have come to expect them, rather than to expect small blogs and IRC channels. So even if you did things the old way, you'd get people nagging you to see to it that your chapters were up on a reader somewhere.
Man, I have so many shit bookmarked on that site.
Time to write it all down, I guess.
nya pantsu was Sup Forums project
>Sup Forums bikeshedding over the name and logo
pottery
Fuck off, nobody wants you there.
name one thing you use that is finished
Why just not torrent manga and put magnets on nyaa?
Was discussed earlier. Thing is that if no one keeps torrents alive, they're irrelevant.
You'd download volumes 1 and 3 with no seeds for volume 2.
i don't wanna have to go back to fucking IRC man
ls
Replace Batoto with a seedbox. Have a yearly everything-torrent and monthly or so collection torrents for shonenshit, moeshit, seinenshit and so forth. We need to move away from online readers to filter out the plebs.
>nyaa died
>batoto will die soon
>i'll only have time to waste and a connection better than dialup in two years
FUCK
>We need to move away from online readers to filter out the plebs.
Once you do that the scan groups won't come there. They want their stuff to be read.
Yeah, connecting to a chatroom and sending a message to a bot sure is difficult.
Goddess's bot doesn't even work now, they're in panic mode. What's now, Sherlock? Waiting for it to be up?
Nyaa's back though, at least two of them.
Scanlating groups would keep them alive sicne it is their showcase. It would be better to have own reader but torrent is easier I guess. I don't see any better alternative: mega links can die, batoto-successor will also die. The future is in distributed systems man.
mangahere masterrace here
represent my manga here bros
>making money for a bunch of greedy scumbags.
>even once
Scanlation groups die much faster compared to a website like Batoto and plenty of scanlators only uploaded their work to Batoto.
You do realize a good chunk of scanlator scanlate because of epeen/efame? And that means the more plebs see their shit the better as far as they are concerned. Sekrit Klub would be plain counterproductive for this.
