HxH is my favorite shounen manga too, but the writing can be all over the place. This arc in particular has terrible pacing.

The writting is as good as, let's say, a Haruki Murakami novel. Altough the story is based in a magical world, characters and personalities are very realistic(unlike Luffy or Goku). You have great woldbuilding, and don't get me started on the genius reveal of DC.

Great character development, comoletely realistic; Like when Kurapika kills Uvogin, he is disgusted by blood and the act of killing another person. After he kills a couple of Phantom Troupe members, what he feels isn't joy. No, it's disgust and a deep feeling of disappointment; he thought that he could burry the sorrow for his clan by taking revenge, but he still feels sad and lost, like he doesn't have anywhere to call home.

In a generic Shounen like One piece, at that point he would realize some stupid shit like " my friends are my home! "
No, since relationships and friendships are realistic in HxH(unlike other Shounen), Kurapika realizes that although Gon, Leorio and Killua love him, he can't really depend lean on them, every person has their own path and goals. In the current arc Kurapika is starting to feel some affection for the baby Prince he is protecting.

Who knows what might happen in the coming chapters, but it will be genius in all probability :D

I haven't read any Haruki Murakami novels, but you write some good stuff, so I'll believe you for now.

I think this arc have better pacing than CA or YN.

I really recommend it, but you should watch the Anime until the manga only chapters, since the art work can sometimes be unbearably basic

also some people grew up with the manga or watching 99 version reruns like i did, so nostalgia can play a major part on how strong people will defend things, look at DBS, its complete shit but since everyone watched dragon ball as a kid they keep watching it hoping it gets good
