Was KyoAni ever good or are we just growing up?

SHIRITAI NO DESS

They used to be somewhat good but all of their in-house light novel adaptations have been bad. They should have stuck to adapting commercial properties

use catalog.

>show full of QUALITY
>anime really is getting worse each year

>show has great quality
>kyoanus shill sameface bullshit

What do you want? What does Sup Forums want?

Considering you retards have been pushing the KyoAni=God meme for 10 years I'd say it's about fucking time you grow up.

I'm not religious though.

They should have kept adapting Key VNs.

>tfw those god-awful Toei movies

Anime connoisseurs seem to think they are the future of the industry

what does this say about you as a person then?

Kyo Ani >>>> Madhouse = IG > * > SHIT > SHAFT

Some of their megahits of the past are kinda trash, like Air and Kanon. But Lucky Star is good, and Full Metal Panic didn't do anything really wrong either. And K-On is a masterpiece, and possibly Hyouka too.

ITT: proud gay men

can someone explain why the debate always ends up KyoAni v Shaft? Why specifically Shaft?

Back when Haruhi was Queen-God, there was no shaft/kyoani debates. Shaft was beloved by a subsection of Sup Forums for Zetsubo Sensei, and a handful of other quirky little titles, while the kyoani-lickers performed coordinated dances to Motteke! Sailor Fuku and Hare Hare Yukai.

Then K-ON! came out and the kyoani lickers lost their collective minds and abject worship of their new "god" studio. The problem was a schism formed in the anime fanbase as while Haruhi was well loved even by non-kyoani fanboys, and while K-On! was a good enough anime to stand on it's own with its own merits; people who simply thought of those anime as "good" or "ok" were mercilessly derided by the rabid and fanatical cult.

Meanwhile anime fandom was tiring of Rie Kugimiya cookie cutter homicidal tsundere characters. In fact tsundere exhaustion was settling into the anime fandom for the first time since 1996, as more and more poor "girl" anime characters flooded the market with no real characterization other then being "tsundere".

Into this gap a little anticipated anime launched from little known "cult" favorite anime studio "Shaft" called Bakemonogatari. Bakemonogatari enraptured a number of non-shaft fans almost immediately thanks to the opening episode and beautiful surrealism. While many anime fans tired of cookie cutter tsunderes voiced by Rie Kugimiya fell in love with Senjougahara (as hard as it might be to believe to some of you, Senjougahara-tore was a REAL thing).

And then the sales numbers came in, and everyone was stunned as Bake -DESTROYED- everything. K-On, Haruhi, even NGE. To the new cult of Kyoani, was a heretical existence, which denied the existence of their new god with sales numbers that shat all over their new god and goddess. Worse, it was from no-named quirky studio called "Shaft". To the cult it appeared as if some heretical little child just stood up and claimed their goddess was wearing no clothing.

Monigataris and Madokas are more successful than anything kyoani has done.

>And K-On is a masterpiece

(cont)
to those who simply thought Haruhi and K-On! were "good" anime, and who were roundly denounced for not dancing to Hare Hare Yukai; the existance of Bakemonogatari was simply too good to be true. Something who's first volume alone outsold the combined sales of Haruhi in its entirity. Who'd first two volumes would outsell K-on! in its entirity. This very fact was all they needed. They didn't even need to LIKE bakemonogatari, to rub Kyoani fanboys face in this fact day after day, thread after thread.

Suddenly it became clear to the Kyoani-lickers, that there was a challenge to their god-queen coming from a pretty enough looking meme show called Bakemonogatari, and their very "essence" was offended. While Bakemonogatari was a good show, the anti-shaft hatred spawned by the lickers guaranteed endless shit-posting and reverse trolling. If it stopped there we might not have seen the current state of affairs, it probably would have calmed down over time. However madoka launched in 2011, and TRUMPED Bakemonogatari's sales numbers. This show offending Kyoani-licker sensibilities to their very core. The character designs were "wide" and non-K-on! moe. It featured death for it's characters. No aftereffects filters, nothing comfy. And the sales numbers seems to put to lie everything they told themselves in post-bakemonogatari world, that Bake was a fluke and meant nothing.

Suddenly a huge swath of "normal-fags" entered anime fandom and were looking up old Shaft shows and finding gems like Zetsubo Sensei and Bakemonogatari; they weren't worshiping their goddess Haruhi, they were memeing Zetsubo Sensei, and ignoring the latest god-ani release Houka. And to the Kyoani fanboys, nothing was more offensive. And so everything Shaft became every Licker's anathema. Of course Shaft had it's own small hard core fanbase which grew and shiposted back. Spawning the great shit post war we still see to this day.

Stop being a contrarian hipster faggot that hates anything fun and popular.

I loved Highschool of the dead though.

Kyoani was good before they fired Yamakan.

Fumoffu is still the pinnacle of comedy anime, TSR is intense as hell, the years didn't take away Haruhi's magic. Kyoani just lost its way and became a studio about cute sameface grills doing fucking nothing

Yeah man you totally can't hate one popular thing and like another.

Fuck your Pornogatari memeshow, Haruhi is still the Queen of Sup Forums

Fumoffu was pretty good

Give it up user. Haruhi is old and busted. Noone gonna make season 3 after all the fuckery happened.

>Delivers one of the best animated first episode in a while
>But doesn't use it on fight scenes or boobs to hold my attention long enough so it's bad
Growing up? More like the other way around user

>no boobs
Did we watch the same anime?

The animation* was nothing special. Ugly colors ruin it.

Seems like Violet's underboobs were failed to hook the attention.

You're one of those people who think art style is animation, right?

reminder that violet wants to know what love is

Animation is a bad and misleading word, anime fans should stop using it. I'm using the expanded definition, which includes artstyle, colour, level of detail, creative ways to move the slides, composition etc.

The movement gets way too much attention in the anime community at the cost of other aspects that are just as important. When you talk about "animation" in the sense of movement, and act as if the discussion is done, you are treating anime wrong. And many other parts of animation* interact with the levels of movement too, so you are ignoring major parts of what's important.

What do you expect out of a PG13 anime?

Her scarred midrif got my attention though

No one said animation is just the movement, but you saying that colors ruined the animation sounded like you're one of those faggots who think animation is bad when they don't like the artstyle.

>Many goes in an animation but I hate it because of a single aspect.
I'm not buying this. This guy is either a troll or a contrarian asshole who thinks it's cool to dislike something that the community unanimously like.

>hate
Why is it that anyone ever uses this word they have nothing to say?

kyoani was good until lucky star
everything after that has been garbage

kyoani and shaft are the only studios with any character these days

Good job, KyoAni

That's one of the most glorious underboob scenes in the history of entertainment. I wanna lick her scars.

delicious

>community
>unanimously like
Here is not MAL or reddit?

TYBKA

>community unanimously like.

My only qualm with kyoani is that it's helping to bring anime into mainstream. The bulk of my hatred goes to netflix of course.

>retard completely detached from reality thinks anime isn't mainstream as fuck nowadays
What else is new

>retard completely detached from reality thinks anime is mainstream as fuck nowadays
you and your mom watching a show after sex doesn't make it "mainstream"

You really have no idea what mainstream means, do you? Compare some casualbait netflix anime like Devilman and VEG with Marvel superhero movies or things like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad and whatever. Those are mainstream and if you're saying anime in general or even this netflix anime shit is on the same line with actual mainstream entertainment you really are stupid.

LMAO

Anime has always been mainstream.

Animation is movement though.

Color and detail have absolutely nothing to do with it and there is no such thing as an expanded definition. You just made that shit up.

>you and your mom watching a show after sex
Dick, no!

Do we really need 10 VEG threads at once?

How can one truly enjoy something if one checks whether or not the number of people that likes it disproportionates those that couldn't give a fuck about it?

Also, I've not met anyone who haven't heard of naruto so it's already mainstream. However, just like music and films some genres or certain productions are under-appreciated and it's completely on you to seek them out.

TL;DR I don't see any issues with anime going mainstream unless you're a hipster

>samefag

>we

>wah wah

The pinnacle of TV anime.

nice photoshop

>I can press F12

>If people I know have heard about one show it makes the entire medium mainstream.
This is whole new level of stupid.

Animation is really nice. Can't say I give much of a shit about anything else at the moment. So, I guess it's typical koyani for me.

teach me how

They were and are still good in producing and directing anime. But they were and are still bad and writting and adaptinng anime.
They make pretty good looking shows, but thats all they do. The content of the shows itself is average at the very most.

Naruto was just an example. Perhaps didn't articulate it well enough but definitely mainstream where I'm from

Chrome then press f12? I just noticed the samefag actually wasted time using photoshop. Kek

I see you're a newfag redditor, so I'll explain. Every medium is shaped by its audience. The smaller the audience the narrower the taste. The wider the audience the blander the product. As they bring more and more anime to casual western audience the entire medium changes to better cater to their new clients. Over several years you can expect it to come to resemble the trash that is western animation. Of course this process is and has been going on for a while now, but it doesn't mean that you shouldn't hate the people or groups that hasten the coming demise.

If you could somehow completely eliminate the influence the western (and to an extent the japanese) casual viewer has on the medium, I wouldn't care at all how many people liked it. But you can't. Anime is a business, and there is money to be earned in the west.

They haven't been good since Nichijou.

Then Shaft started resting on their laurels and selling out, to the point where "will this do?" seems to be their slogan.

>Everyone i do not like is a samefag

Hyouka was great63

Shaft is KyoAni's antithesis.

>are we just growing up
bitch i'm 35 and i think it looks fine

You forget the part where Bakemonogatari and Zetsubou Sensei were low in "oh great animation" except for two or three scenes and even reached slideshow levels and still was better than almost most of KyoAni.
That was when KyoAni fans lose it.

Not matter how many times you post this gif it will never be funny.

No it really wasn't. It was decent at best.

GodAni

Seems like the past four years have revealed Shaft as naked as a jaybird. First you had the clustermug that was Mexico City Actors, the Kizu looking like absolute shit after half a decade in production, and then that inexcusable Fireworks remake all showing that they don't have their shit together at all. Wouldn't surprise me if Madoka (y'know, "their" second most popular franchise) was cancelled due to some production snafu with Aniplex like with Kemono Friends.

>great quality

What?

growing up is not the same as getting old, grandpa

I don't want anything, I just shitpost

can't do wrong if you simply copy the popular stuff!

But you guys sure proselytize like one.

savage dubs of truth

Shaft has been known as the company that has been having production issues on the shows that they worked on for many years. It's a miracle they continue to survive and be able to get work despite it being well known they mess up a lot.Although it doesn't mean people can't enjoy their shows.

tl;dr

>The wider the audience the blander the product
Shit shows will always outsell good ones no matter how wide the audience get. A wider audience will only mean more shit are going to get produced and maybe you're right that in terms of statistics, anime as a whole, will be blander but the number of quality shows that we get now and then will be unaffected.

>instagram filter the animation

Haruhi was trash and Kyoani outdid it entirely with chuu2koi

>muh filters
Your battleshounens will never look this good user.

no delete this stupid covert shaft faggot kyoani are gods and can do no wrong

I know it is bait but this statement triggers me and sakes my vary core

I see. So those Kyoani fans are burning with spite for these years? Isn't that just kinda pathetic?

They look better just by having actual animation instead of muh pretty lighting to appeal to sub80 IQ niggers like you

>Sup Forums hates VEG
>Sup Forums hates PTE
>Sup Forums hates Devilman
>Sup Forums will probably hate Darling in the Franxx and Fate/Extra
This season is amazing

Not that 3-gatsu is one of the best series of the season, right?

>Kizu
>absolute shit
I thought people defended KyoAni for, at least, their animation but seeing this now I know you are liked for the meme. Kizu was great

>I only watch low detail, average budget shows like the genius I am

Needs constant fighting to keep interest on a show and calls someone else a sub 80 IQ
