Lain is the Rick and Morty of anime in terms of fanbase.
>almost every watcher thinks they're superior for watching an "obscure" anime >2 deep 4 u >most watchers have multiple mental illnesses and are taking pharmaceutical medicines >lain can understand me she is a neet on her pc all day!

> pharmaceutical medicines Even if you wrote this properly I'd still say it's better to get your meds from a pharmacy than from the black market.
Not a Lain fan but your post is obvious bait and complete bullshit regardless.
Christian James
you know what i meant, it isn't bait, almost every lain fan is like this
Hudson Garcia
funny how none of these things are true
Juan Green
they actually are, a lot of drug addicts and brainlet neets can identify with lain
Carter Collins
Don't forget that both are for atheistic nihilists.
Austin Butler
And you can't? One of the Lains spent much her time talking to people on the internet, just like us right now. And this method of communication "fractured" her, giving birth to a more unhinged version of Lain. This is exactly what you can observe in people posting on this very website, who are reserved in the physical realm, but much more open and unhinged on the internet (the Wired).
I would be worried, if you couldn't identify with Lain to some degree, that would imply a lack of self-awareness
Jeremiah Thompson
ive never watched it, ashamed of the kinds of "sadboy" retards that inhabit every part of the internet
Matthew Phillips
>everything I don't like is Rick and Morty now
Adrian Perez
>lain is like [thing I don't like and you probably don't like] Oh fuck. Better stop liking the show for no reason.
>most watchers are on meds Rick and Morty is normalfag shit. >2 deep 4 u Apparently man.
Adam Bell
>never seen it This thread needs to disappear
Nolan Smith
Seriously, go watch it. It is very good. And while watching it keep in mind that this was made in the late 90s.
Asher Edwards
Some people like the anime legit, but there is big fanbase based on how much they want Lain to be their waifu. That doesn’t work with Texh, where people like the anime because the story, the plot makes difficult to take Ichise out and put him on an AU, so most fags don’t bother.
Jose Young
I always thought Lain just became the Internet when she alienated herself from the outside world.
Christopher Long
No one waifu's Lain. Lets love Lain doesn't mean muh waifu. She's a mascot character for some people signifying quasi-religious stuff or transhumanist cyberpunk type stuff.
Julian Powell
>Texh what is that?
Evan Parker
Well Lain came out decades ago and Rick and Morty is a recent show. So if anything Rick and Morty is the Lain of western animation. But that just sounds ridiculous so your opinion is wrong.
Adam Jackson
no, it's true no thanks i'd rather not indulge in self satisfactory garbage
"wooow shes a neet just like meeee, so aesthetic.." average lain fan
Jacob Mitchell
The absolute state of this thread.
Camden Davis
that was my 2nd post in this thread i saw it from the catalog
Joshua Davis
Lain is not a NEET.
Kevin Powell
So you're just a faggot right?
Tyler Walker

Julian Richardson
Lain is even more pretentious than evangelion. At least with eva Anno admitted that many things there were there just because they were cool with a good part of the symbolism and depth being product of fan interpretation while with Lain it tries to be this deep essay about the psyche of people in society but ultimately its no better than eva. It doesn't help that being a Konaka anime, it caters to his fetishes.
Brayden Butler
>responding to this retard Let the thread die, kill it if you have to
Leo Anderson
did i offend you with that sadboy comparison? hit too close to home? tame another xanny lmao
Matthew Thompson
That's another point. This () is just about the contrast between base Lain and Wired Lain.
>Lain just became the Internet when she alienated herself from the outside world. One of the main plot points is that Lain is an artificial Goddess created by Eiri as something of the "embodiment" of Protocol 7. It's been a while since I last watched it, so I may be wrong on the details of Eiri's plan.
lain is not NEET
There is nothing pretentious about Lain, it's all there.
Easton King
>kill it if you have to
Imagine being such an angry ribbitor that you try to actively shut down discussions you don't like.
Tyler King
lololololo OP can't grasp the complexity of Lain and is a brainlet haha haha eat shit brainlet fag
Justin Rivera
>imagine being this far removed that you let a joke fly over your head so you can keep your angry sperg out going
Luke Sanchez
it was in quotes, there are people like that regardless of whether you think so or not, just like how people think tomoko is a neet
Jordan Long
was it some sort of show reference? i told you i havent seen it
Charles Evans
Honestly, why can't you look at things for their own merits, instead of looking at the people who seem to like the thing?
Jace Watson
2 deep 4 u? because you can't ignore shitty fandoms
Sebastian Gray
but you are just making straw dolls and setting them on fire
Gavin Clark
are you denying the things in the op? also why do you care

Lain is literally the pinnacle of anime complexity for your brainlet It's baiting because he's bored, however people tend to be influenced by their opinion of the anime fanbase as well as ratings. I consider this to be the lowest scum that consumes media just because it's there and other people like it as opposed to watching because they're interested in it.
Joshua Miller
im not baiting whatsoever
Christian Martinez
I'd like to watch this show but I don't want to be associated with those pretentious fans.
Christopher Rivera
>are you denying the things in the op? Sure, let's do that:
>almost every watcher thinks they're superior for watching an "obscure" anime Lain is not obscure, it's a semi-popular show, pretty much everyone who watches anime beyond Eotena Onslaught knows about it.
>2 deep 4 u Lain is very straightforward, there is nothing really "out-there" about it, even the meta-narrative is extremely simple.
>most watchers have multiple mental illnesses and are taking pharmaceutical medicines nice conjecture
>lain can understand me she is a neet on her pc all day! Nearly everyone is connected to the internet all day, all the time. Lain predicting something like this as early as the 90s, based on Japanese cell phone culture at the time is something special. The "present day, present time" in the opening are what make it such a haunting experience. Lain is set in "present day, present time", even though it's almost 20 years old. >why do you care I care because Lain is special.
Aaron Allen
why is lain special? i meant why are you so interested in how i feel about it
Charles Russell
Existential anime about le interwebs and people losing themselves into the virtual worlds they create instead of living in the rl. Lain=Goddess of interwebz which was created by rad scientist dude. Shockingly similar with today's society. did you understand?
Matthew Mitchell
Don't watch the show. Being pretentious about it is good fun and well deserved. Just look at the people who don't like it. Spastics who haven't seen it and more often than not, people who didn't understand the narrative and or couldn't immerse in the slower pacing and tone of the show.
Oliver Bailey
Where's the Lain autist when you need him?
Benjamin Price
>Don't watch the show. Why not?
Evan Carter
>god of the interwebz You mean actual God.
Ayden King
If you care that much, why watch anything? Even shows with cult followings have fans that make others look bad. Stop being so fucking insecure.
Leo Hill
I care, because it is very good and I like it a lot and I feel that you are misrepresenting it to make it look bad.
>Existential anime about le interwebs and people losing themselves into the virtual worlds they create instead of living in the rl. No, you are missing an important point the show makes. The internet and the real life are one and the same, it doesn't make a difference how you communicate or interact with people. Consider the rise of social media and smartphones, which very much is how this "barrier" between the virtual and the real disappeared.
Blake Perry
>There is nothing pretentious about Lain, it's all there.
The presentation is what makes it pretentious. The show has terrible exposition, character, and pacing issues, but masks them with "style" (no music, reused animation) and it doesn't know if it wants the story to be vague, or complex with terribly boring exposition.
