It's because the series was built to last. The first 10 volumes are literally nothing but highly detailed world building, and from there everything kicks off. It's been over a decade and we're still covering concepts foreshadowed in volume 2. Couple that with regular updates from a dedicated author and you've got yourself a recipe for a dedicated fanbase.

I watching the three seasons in a single 30h sitting and had the most spectacular hallicinations afterwards— made a hundred times more impression on me than Eva did.

No, when I drop a show, I give it a rating based on how I felt about it. When I gave something 1/10, that means that I am done with that show. When I gave a show 10/10, it means that I might pic it back up, when I feel like it.

I guess he just skipped anything with fairies in the anime and got back in season two because of guns but stopped again when the fairies came back.

I watched it with a group of friends, while we were high. We made fun of the show and all that good stuff. Then I fell asleep and woke up the next morning (None of us finished it that day). And we did a similar thing for season 2 (only half was out at the time anyway). Both times I didnt feel like finishing it while sober and alone.
