I am concerned about the direction of this series.

I was on board with season 1 Momonga being a nice normal person who plays at being an evil overlord without ever actually doing anything evil, does hero stuff for fun in his spare time, and is primarily interested in becoming famous in order to contact other yggdrasil players who might be around.

Now we've had an entire episode dedicated to cute lizard waifu who our protagonist is apparently going to murder.

No, there is no reason for it to last as long as it probably will. The lizards arc is practically irrelevant in future novels, only popping up in passing every once in a while.

Its a large step in demonstrating how the NPCs learn and can improve based on failure, as well as world building upon lore that is used later. The character building is huge and I feel like if people really watched or read through the lizard arc without constantly being distracted by wanting to see ainz wreck more things, they would like the characters as well.

Funimation said they'll be simuldubbing it, but they're only starting on the 30th of January I think. Funnily enough with the official English translation LN volume 6 being released on the same day, it just caught up with the anime in the nick of time. Would've been funny to see the anime actually be ahead of the novels though.

It's actually hilarious how incompetent Yen Press is when you consider that it took them three fucking years to release 6 volumes and their translations aren't even that good.

Which is a shame since a season 3 would probably have the opposite effect. With volumes 7 and 9 having the edgy Ainz a lot of people seem to want and 8 with the fun slice of life hijinks.
