But, time criteria aside, it really is essential for people who like comedy anime/mango. It was god tier and the way the author handles most characters (except Tenma and Karasuma, but that may be just my tastes) is top notch. Too bad nips can't into endings.

Yes, also Harima is one of the best MC ever. We need more manly MC like him. Eri on the other hand is a classic tsundere character, well portrayed too.

More than a classic I would call it the gold standard of romcoms.

Super popular in its day, overall excellent though haven't seen it since so not sure how well it's aged.

It is a classic, but it was not impactful. So it might be forgotten eventually. There is no good way for new people to find it, and that's a part of what makes something a classic.
The romcom genre has regressed too far right now.

There has been better sitcoms of the same cut of friends since ther (eg. HIMYM) whereas the only thing that comes close to School Rumble is Sket Dance.

I actually didn't find School Rumble comedy special or even really that funny. None of the joke stands out in my memory. However, the characters are interesting enough to keep me reading, except Tenma, she's terrible. It has a disappointing end and I feel like the author didn't know how to end it properly.

10 years later and i'm still so fucking mad, holy shit that fucking ending made me rage so much that to this day i scream in anger when i see a fucking pie on any kind of manga or anime.

Hanai vs Harima is already a better fight scene than of actual big name shounen.

Shame the rest of s2 went off the deep end and became a mostly incomprehensible skit show that mostly dropped any semblance of coherent plot.
