What makes an Opening sequence bad? I'll start:
>Spoilers in OP
>Characters running across a field
>Characters flying in the sky
Not sequence releated but
>Guitar riff in the full version

>Characters running across a field
aaaaaaaaaaaaa I fucking hate this
The only thing that matters is the song
Animes should have an OP like from the regular show.
>>Characters running across a field
But it looks so cool.
No it looks fucking stupid and it ruins literally every OP
You should fuck off
What makes it so "cool?"
>Characters reaching up into the sky
>A dance sequence
>Stern side-profile expressions while wind blows their hair in an obvious animation loop
A sorta melancholic section right before the more upbeat chorus.
showing static frames of side characters one at a time to say "hey they're here too" at roughly the end of the OP
Gochiusa has some deep opening sequences
Pic related.
is this a trope
Implying you faggots could even run 5 meters without dropping dead to exhaustion.
>doesn't like dancing ops
what a fucking faggot holy shit

"Child prostitute awaits her next customer" (1910, colorized) by ME
Not everybody here is American you know.
>>A dance sequence
wrong answer, faggot
Who is this by?
Me.
>two mugs
actually not even a meme
This is the best OP of the 2010s
youtube.com
It introduces us to every major character, shows us their personality traits, uses inventive shots and interesting compositions, hints at the plot using relevant but not overtly spoilery imagery and has a fitting song.
So naturally a bad OP is one that tells us nothing about the characters, spoils the plot, uses stale an uninventive shots and has a bad song.
Jokes on you I'm a world famous track athlete.
>So naturally a bad OP is one that tells us nothing about the characters, spoils the plot, uses stale an uninventive shots and has a bad song.
So the mekakucity actors opening.
i'm /out/ as fuck, come at me candyass
Dance sequence can be hit or miss. Some are pretty badly done
Talking segments. Like the start of the gabriel dropout op with all the gibberish before the title logo or pic related.
>caring about spoilers
aaaaaa run the tripfags are here
They're only bad when none of the fansubbers translate them.
They don't make a cool scene for the high part of the song. This kills OPs. Mahouka does this well for example.
Watching someone run gets your brain thinking you're in motion and energetic. Very cool.
watching them jump is way cooler
Yeah that is pretty cool.
Also when all it does is show the characters and them doing something not special. Just make it good and rewatchable.
Sad melodramatic scene is one of the best things about openings. Look at how many times FMA does it and all those OPs are great.
When they match up the song voice with a character who is the opposite gender or completely not the same voice at all. Fuuka did this and I didn't realize for a few a episodes, but it bothered me once I realized Fuuka doesn't even sing the OP.
This reminds me. Monogatari openings are super hit and miss. Have you seen them? Some are great, some are just flat out weird. The songs may be good, but the opening animation is completely trash.
Agreed. Monkey's 1st, Bee, and Crab's second opening were garbage.
The best ones are math, both Ougi, and Nadeko's
>OP is just clips of the first two episodes mashed together
Damn, you don't see that often. I have seen it before though.
>Spoilers in OP
Not bad if it's subtle though.
Oshiete Galko-chan was even worse, since literally every episode is a mash-up of the previous episodes.
>Second OP reuses clips from the first OP
>new OP is exactly the same as the first OP but with a different song
>2nd op is just another part of the first op
I mean the one you posted isn't the stereotypical field run, so.
>New OP uses the exact same song but with different sequences
>Implying we don't have something proper already

>ED outsourced to a VFX artist

Opening by Fear and Loathing.
>tfw none of the subbers across the three seasons have translated the stuff they say during the OPs
As you can see the first one has some pseudo subs, which are fine enough, and I think Encore also got subs for the remade OP. Not sure about Pururun though.
If you think that's bad, you should have seen Battle Programmer Shirase's initial opening. Literally just a handful of random episode 1 clips repeated several times, set to a song with a suspicious similarity to Never Gonna Give You Up.
But those are amazing. Scryed, TTGL and Bakuman used it to great effect.
Then again, there's also HxH 2011 which kept switching back and forth between the two verses for 148 episodes.
baby steps did that and i think it was well executed

What ever this director was thinking
>characters do a Big Jumpy
These are what make anime openings great.
FUCKN BIRDS = FREEDUMB BECAUSE MC WANTS TO BE FREE IT'S A METAPHOR BECAUSE THE MAIN CHARACTER IS A TRAVELLER AND FLIES ACROSS THE LAND LIKE A BIRD FLIES IT'S REALLY DEEP
More like what did Boku Dake ga Inai Machi's opening do completely right?
GATE, or anything else by the akeboshi rockets.
>its a placeholder OP filled with stationary stock images of the characters because they couldn't finish the actual OP on time
That one is shit.
>part of the OP is scenes from the current episode, spoiling it
Got it for you user.

>Ali Project
I like the show, but Yuru Camp OP is the worst OP I've seen recently. It feels like it has been made for 200 yen in Blender. Cheap 3d effects, awkward transitions, the fucking tent just twitching around for like 10 seconds. WTF were they thinking?
Reminds me of Stella no Mahou ED, which was a literal Windows XP screensaver with music.
Yeah, but that Jackson 5 hook though.
>guitar riff
I'm sorry?
>opening is true detective style
youtube.com

Watching this hurts and I don't know why
I hate anime OPs but I love Yuru Camp's.
Because it's over and they're never coming back, user ;_;
I take it you don't like the Konosuba S2 OP then?
>Spoilers in OP
I like this when it's subtle or quick enough that you don't catch it until you've seen the whole show.
Both Konosuba OP were mediocre at best.
Cocoa is smart
I don't like Konosuba
>The best ones are math, both Ougi, and Nadeko's
My Nigger.
But aren't you forgetting something there?

This is just me but I got sick of Platinum Disco pretty quickly. I never get sick of OPs I like
