They are merely going off on an hiatus so they can put their best animators into the movie.Consider this new movie the new BoG,it will soon be followed by Dragon Ball Ultra where Gohan will finally become the main character.

The ratings have been bad lately, around 4.8 average for the ToP. The 1 hour UI special flopped hard with 3.5 average.

The first hundred episodes averaged 6.0 and it's been downhill ever since.

This is what really peeves me. Super's narrative began with Beerus wanting to find the Super Saiyan God that could actually defeat him. Goku is only halfway there with just only half of the UI ability unlocked.

If Super truly ends at the ToP we'll be able to say they couldn't do something better than GT after 20 years of planning and hundreds of episodes.

The next series Ultra or whatever may have a shot if they shift their target audience, Super was heavily hurt by being aimed at kids.
