It's a goddamn miracle

Will Naga show up again?

I could never get into slayers. It's too, well irreverently Japanese, is really the only way I can put it.

This is surprising since Kanzaka said he'd never make a sequel.

at least a novel will not have repulsive eating noises

This is some bullshit.

Why would you say that?

It's very unexpected, given that the author was done with the project for this long.

He's only doing it because it's the 30th anniversary of Dragon Magazine, so I guess the editor are forcing him to. He always swore up and down for the past 18 years that he would never write a sequel to the main novel storyline.

>It's fucking real

Fuck you, Kanzaka. I thought you were better than this.

What's the problem? It makes the fans happy and doesn't necessarily have to ruin the series.

As long as Naga makes a cameo somehow I'll will read it. If an anime comes of it, and Naga is somehow involved. Then I'll will buy it.

It was a good ending and the author had the artistic pride not to milk it (he can do that with the prequels). Why bring it down by returning with something that will probably have less impact?

Because it will probably just be a gaiden or epilogue story and not a full scale multivolume story arc. I don't think that will do anything to harm the impact of part 2.

>not wanting to read about Lina slowly murdering her way up the mazoku hierarchy

The poor woman has PTSD. Just let her run her shop and raise her family in fantasy Italy.

It could very well be a story about something SoL like that. Let's reserve judgment until it actually comes out.

My guess is that it'll probably consist of a single volume epilogue about some incident that happens to Lina and Gourry on their way back to Zephilia. So far we know nothing about the content except that Lantz may make an appearance (according to hints Rui left on his Twitter account).

The magazine issue with the preview for this story comes out today, there will be spoilers soon.

So what is slayers like? female dragnquest? and do I ahve to watch the original?

My number one wish for this is that there will be mention of what became of Amelia and Zel. I won't get my hopes up as far as them actually appearing in the story since Kanzaka never seemed that interested in writing about them. But at least some acknowledgement of their existence would be nice.

Watch the first season of the TV series to see if you like it, then the next two seasons if you do.

>do I ahve to watch the original?

I assumed this was a remake like devilman and cutie honey. and theres been a lot of remakes lately.

Most people compare Slayers to how an average D&D game turns out. It's fun.

>it's them playing pachinko

Just read the ending in wikipedia or something.

This is a novel sequel to the novel series, not an anime.

how much does the anime cover?

First story arc of 8 volumes, and very loosely (although I would say the changes are mostly an improvement).

The first two seasons cover the first 8 novels. The other three seasons are fanfiction and half-adapting the parts of novels 5-6 that were cut out of the older seasons.

>fanfiction
You can't call Try that when Kanzaka was deeply involved of the writing of it and shared a series composition credit.

Sorry, original story. It just feels like fanfiction because of all the shipping and addition of new edgelord characters.

I didn't like the new edgelord characters (or any of the new characters of Try for that matter). But I thought the shipping was toned down from Next (that dumb marriage temple episode notwithstanding).

>single volume epilogue
Didn't they say it's a new serialization?

A volume is made up of several chapters, in Slayers' case usually 4. I'd be shocked if Kanzaka was actually willing to go beyond a volume's worth since he also has other series to work on.

What's left to kill? Zellas and Dolphin? Or Lina will travel to another world to kill Death Fog and Chaotic Blue? Oh, I get it, they are going to cash in on the isekai fad.

>New Slayers
Holy shit

>Oh, I get it, they are going to cash in on the isekai fad

II wouldn't mind Kanzaka doing that if it means fleshing out the two other universes he introduced in the whole Slayers/Lost Universe metaplot.

Luna will kill Xellos.

So Slayers next and try weren't in the manga? Or loosely based? I don't know the manga

The source material is a novel series. Next was loosely based on the novels, Try was an original story for the anime. There are several manga series, but they all differ from the novels as much as the anime does. Slayers has many continuities.

How did the series end? In the novel and manga?

Pretty much

It's hard to summarize the ending of a long story arc. I suggest you read volume summaries online or just the novels themselves. The second arc of the novels introduces new characters and if you're only familiar with the anime or the first half of the novels, just telling you the ending won't have as much impact.
>and manga
Like I said, there are several manga series and it depends which one you mean.

Holy shit.

Let the fools who stand before us be pwned by shitposts you and I possess.
DRAGON BUMP

>they are going to cash in on the isekai fad
We had Try about it

True, Try was isekai before it was cool.

besides r/evolution is return the worst slayers animation product?

Return was fine though.
And Revolution is worse than Evolution-R.

So how many novels is it now? 100?
