Here's my batshit insane theory that won't happen and also ignores some of Aoyama's previous development.

Aoyama isn't the traitor. Hagakure is the traitor and Aoyama knows it.

Guess which 2 students aren't accounted for at USJ? Aoyama and Hagakure. He even says that his location was a secret. It's a secret because he was keeping an eye on Hagakure after he noticed her doing something weird right before the villains attacked. Hagakure gives a bullshit location to cover herself.

Guess what Aoyama is doing when shit goes down during the School Trip arc? Keeping an eye on Jirou and Hagakure. Don't be fooled just because Hagakure is knocked out, it's the perfect alibi if she wants to continue staying undercover.

We have enough info to know that Aoyama is very perceptive, most notable example being him figuring out that Ochako liked Deku before she figured it out. Aoyama feeds Deku cheese because he's just fucking weird. Aoyama is staking out Deku's room, albeit poorly, because he knows Hagakure is after Deku and has begun to move. Don't know what Hagakure specifically wants to do with Deku yet.

What if Aoyama just accidentally locked himself out on his balcony and now he's climbing around the outside of the building looking for someone who's still awake to let him back in?
