>generic garbage battle shonen
>hailed as the "thing that saved anime" and the second coming of christ
Nani?
Generic garbage battle shonen
kill la kill isnt the thing that saved anime but it is damn good and i wouldnt call it a generic battle shonen
The ending was generic though.
Well what's so good about it?
Half of it is boring edgy battle scenes that we've seen a thousand times in other animes and the other half was shitty jokes and fanservice
Do you not understand what a parody is? That's like calling Spaceballs a generic sci-fi adventure movie.
It was SOMETHING besides LN adaptations and generic moeshit slice of life.
Anime-original series are usually a good way to have a lot of hype on Sup Forums during airing.
Who thinks this? It was dogshit
It was a mahou shoujo.
I liked the animation style. But I never finished it. Was just sort of meh
context on which it came out. you only had moeblob saturation plus VN generic stuff.
It mightve been shit and really boring at times bUUUUUUUTT the mc was hot and there was a really hot scene between the antagonist and her mother soo 8/10
>Kill la Kill
>edgy battle scenes
Fucking what?
The fights with the elite 4 and other antagonists that follow the classic and overused anime battle schema:
>MC transforms
>starts losing to antagonist
>starts losing more and more until all seems lost
>when all seems lost MC has a sudden ingenious idea and defeats the antagonist
>MC is now smug and arrogant and holds some kind of edgy speech over the body of the defeated antagonist
Zero originiality. Zero innovation. Zero entertainment. Just the re-using of old, overdone tropes, that are more irritating than anything. And so horribly predictable.
For some reason a lot of people have latched onto calling Ryuko edgy, despite the fact that she has none of the personality characteristics of the typical edgelord. I'm convinced they're just parroting an opinion from elsewhere.
edgy is anything i dislike
You have no idea what edgy means.
>defeat antagonist
>psssh nothin personel kid
Edgy
>animes
Went to shit during the driving ep.
Only watched it to see how big of an embarassingly bad trainwreck it could become...and to hatefap to the tiny annoying pinkhaired dyke and semi nudes of mako.
I think we all know why
>Zero originiality. Zero innovation. Zero entertainment.
Sup Forums only likes it cuz it's girls in skimpy outfits doing skimpy things
there is literally no way to defend it

>I get my definitions from overused memes
My point stands lmao
I don't like KLK but it's not a battle shonen you retard.
It didn't save anime, it's merely a neo-Sup Forums meme. Anyone who's been here from at least 2012 knows that TRIGGER shilled KLK to hell and back because the studio's success was basically riding on it. This board had pretty high expectations but the show didn't deliver
It generated the same kind of shitposting Franxx is doing right now or worse.
Hes right tho
This. Newfags back then wanted to force into being the next TTGL, and it showed. The series showed some promise but it nosedived hard in the second half and never recovered.
It was mediocre reheating of the old Gainax concepts that the viewers were expecting from them. Trigger was trying to become what Gainax was and have their first proper anime jumpstart them to greatness
It wasn't a particularly bad series but it was far from what people were hoping it to be.
This
Everyone wanted it to be something and then kept on convincing themselves that it was
This has to be bait.
i loved the part when ryuko and satsuki finally teamed up and ryuko had trouble saying "nee-chan". then badass powerup scene. it was beautiful.
>hailed as the "thing that saved anime" and the second coming of christ
says who?
>animes
Anti Trigger force in full effect, FranXX trolling wasn't enough?
It was better than TTGL though.
>REEEEEE WHY WONT YOU USE JAPANESE GRAMMAR WHILE WRITING IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Unironic weeaboos are the worst.
You can go back to where you came from.
(You)
>people saying the second half of the series was bad because it jumps off the rails
>in a series where one of the major draws is breaking convention and expectation
even worse than the retards complaining about 'bad animation' for stylistic choices
Nui was a horrible character and the plot goes to shit after in the second half.
the plot is intentionally thrown out because keeping it linear and cohesive goes against the rest of the show's motive - breaking expectation and moving fast. It's why they start it in the final elite four fight, ending the "battle tournament" arc before the two actual anticipated fights take place.
You can see this done in other places, like with the use of static characters instead of animated ones to inject moments of brevity (and falling action) into a scene where there otherwise wouldn't be any if it was done conventionally
That's the main sticking point of KlK, it intentionally throws out hard convention like animation consistency and plot cohesion in favor of keeping true to it's main objective of setting up an expectation -> subversion line and rapid change in the narrative. You can argue on the merits of this, and whether it makes it good or not, but to argue it isn't intentional makes you look retarded.
Subversion for the sake of subversion isn't inherently good. I would have much preferred the generic battle tournament arc over a character as bland as Nui existing.
I don't agree with nui being abhorrently bad. She's average and kind of predictable as a plot device character, but she's not annoying or anything.
That’s fine and all but there’s no meat to the series for all that work, for lack of better words. Like how am I meant to engage with these characters and events when the series tries to hammer it into me that its all nonsense on both a superficial and deeper level? Like why should I give a fuck when its clear the show itself doesn’t? Something like this would be fine if comedy was the focus but its not.
That sounds like a you problem, and I don't know why you'd try to look for a deeper meaning or answer when it comes to liking a thing. Lots of things you like and accept outside of this show are probably superficial and complete nonsense, there doesn't have to be a deeper meaning.
I like kill la kill because I like the style and I like the characters. It doesn't have to go past that.
Where are you getting any of this from?
Nice normie-tier League of Legends joke, though
>League
What?
>hotscene
>incest rape
Please realize what happened to make you feel that such a thing was acceptable to find arousing (use as a coping mechanism for your own childhood abuse, normalization of rape from media, pathetic need to feel powerful when powerless) and think on that before reforming.
If a rape scene makes an anime for you, you need to take a step back and think about why you feel that is so hot and why this hotness is a priority in your judgement. If you're under 18, you get a pass.
The christ figure is Mako.
The entirety of Kill La Kill can be summed up as "Mako doing her best to make sure Ryuuko doesn't fuck up and die" without having Ryuuko notice how much she's helping.
I hear 'nani?!' all the time from ironic weebs.
>normie
how the fuck is nani a league of legends meme?
This but unironically
>If you're under 18, you get a pass.
if you're under 18 you get a ban
I see it almost every normal game.
Please stop.
Stop playing normalfag games.
>really boring at times
how the fuck could it be boring? the pace was rushed if anything and stuff was bouncing and exploding and spraying rainbows or sparkles on the screen every episode
>lolfag
>throwing stones in a glass house
are you a bot or something?
I don't get how a regular human poster could fall for such shitty bait
...
Does anyone even know what edgy means anymore?
No, the writing in KLK went out the window completely in the second half. Ryuko was interesting as the primary antagonist during the first half and then just becomes a generic as shit anti-hero when she's exchanged for Ragyo, a BBEG with no depth at all to her character. A large amount of the cast becomes completely irrelevant due to the plot shift to focus on the Kiryuin family and at the end of it all, you get some boring cliched ending.
The animation also wildly inconsistent but that's kind of Trigger's MO in using extremely stylized designs to mask poor animation and pass it off as artistic.
it seems you don't, user! Let me define it for you.
edgy is: anything darker than precure that I don't like
I don't think anyone thought Trigger saved anime after the show aired, in fact KlK became the cool thing to shit on since it wasn't the next TTGL, personally I think the show has a great first half but then quickly spirals downhill after Ragyou is introduced. The show's characters are definitely it's high point both in character design and personality, unfortantly they just couldn't save it from being a massive trainwreck near the end.
A coworker said I would like a Sup Forums series because '[it] was edgy' and I don't try to give that impression IRL. It means to be overly violent for shock factor, but it's associated with Devil May Cry and Shadow the hedgehog. Because of their colors, it became a meme around 2013 to add Ryuko to the mix. It's kind of amazing how definitions can change over time based on a certain community. Langue is cool as fuck.
I need to rewatch KLK. I got harshly critical about media I consumed, I was defensive over writers/producers influence over me as the audience. I like the on-the-nose shounen tropes but I took it way too seriously at the end and got way too wrapped up in myself to enjoy it. I loved the Hannah-Barbara ass budget cuts on the animation. Always stylishly done and well timed.
Media is made to be projected upon but my bias is a little out there, so I can't speak for anyone else.
Mako best girl.
I agree, Ryuko's character got lost in the weeds in the later half. A lot of personality gets sacrificed for shounen tropes.
Look between that reply cap TTGL thread earlier this weekend and this thread, it's pretty clear too many people here are just beyond help and lost in whatever specific sea of trash they're stuck in.
The people ironically shitposting are fine, but you should really take a look at yourself if you're posting non-stop praise of VEG while hating classic Trigger shows.
The christ figure is the guy who literally died for mankind's sins
fuck off faggot moralfag retard
