Love Live! Sunshine!!

Now that's over can we all agree that SS has better music, characters, development and setting than OG?

I watched both series consecutively. The only gaps between anything were between each episode of sunshine season 2 as it was airing.

People can have opinions user

SS is all about those, OG only had depressed honk getting slapped, kotori leaving and the road to love live which SS also has.

No. Sunshine is a piece of hyper annoying and forced crap. I can't say that I love first LL, but at least I enjoyed watching it. Direction was much better and not forced.

Original was your typical garbage cgdct without any stakes, development and awful unlikeable characters.

Sunshine is an upgrade in every possible way

no. If it had been about just Saint Snow then yes, but Aqours were terrible.

Sunshine was worse in literally every way

Sunshine is better, but for some reason the characters don’t have as big of an impact. μ's will still be remembered years from now, while i feel aqours will not

Yes.
It also gave us RKK, Aikyan and Anchan and the others.

Also, is image upload still fucked?

Even when images are down YoshiRiko is still the best!

S1 was alright but would have been a lot better if it wasn't for the constant µ's dicksucking, S2 was a lot better but still pretty meh compared to the original, which itself wasn't perfect either.

>Music
There was only really like 2 or 3 aqours songs I actually liked to be honest, I fucking love My Mai Tonight though

>Characters
I love a lot of them but there were too many of them that tried too hard to replicate some of the original cast (Chika = Honoka 2.0 but more autistic and unlikable, Hanamaru = Hanayo/Rin 2.0, Mari = Nozomi 2.0 but rich as fuck, etc.), also it should be fucking illegal how much You got cucked

>Development
I'd agree with this, some characters that were pretty meh in S1 were a lot more likable in S2 like Riko and Mari, and them actually losing the school surprised me

>Setting
Also agreed, comfy little sea town > generic Tokyo setting

6.5/10 for Season 1, 7/10 for Season 2

Dia is an upgraded Eli though for sure

>Chika = Honoka 2.0 but more autistic and unlikable
You take that back right now.

Yeah, gotta say I liked Sunshine's 3rd Years a lot more

Sunshine is worse in every way and specifically made for pedophiles where as Love Live! School Idol Project! is made for Intelligent decent folk

Now begin posting text pictures of my girls

You mean YoshiRiri.
Nice ASCII though.

which aqours girl would you cum inside, Sup Forums?

yes

It is better in every way possible

Music is much much better than moose's generic animusic

Characters were more likeable and they actually had a development

Seiyuus are a massive upgrade, no soft core porn actresses, jav actresses but 9 girls who are passionate about this project and its fans

>but 9 girls who are passionate about this project and its fans

Make that 8, otherwise I agree.

>music

>Charaters

I'd say both are pretty even. [spoilers] All stars anime when [/spoilers]

That was a great part, actually.
ChikaRiko is a connoisseur's choice.

Why not both?
Aikyan is basically a 3D Yoshiko.

That's very true, but the seiyuu are not for lewding.
Actually, it's probably SSW - Kanan and Ainya - Mari are the ones where 3D is not almost a carbon copy of 2D (or vica versa). Plus RKK is not as reserved as Riko but otherwise they are similar.

>cumming inside 3D

I equally like all. Though Sunshine most definitely trumps muse on the setting. The whole seaside town is way better then having it in Akiba. But it sucks that they didn't do more water activities like scuba diving and the whole school closing down thing should have been dropped in season one, fucking hated that shit. They could have used season 2 for more sol+idol episodes rather than worrying about the school. Theres a reason OG dropped that plot in season 1, nobody liked it.

>stating the obvious
I would agree entirely, but µ's second years are pretty fucking based. If you were to add them to Aqours, it would be complete perfection.

remember the episode where riko did a flip

No one here has mentioned yet how characters like Kanan, Yoshiko and You were shafted pretty heavily by the anime, especially in season 2. You still manages to be lovable for me because of the manga and dramas, but whereas You suffered from lack of screentime, Kanan and Yoshiko's characters were ruined. Kanan got turned into an asshole and Yoshiko's significance withered away in favor of being a meme character. It's very weird to start out a series with one girl being your favorite, only to end up disliking her so much not even the side material redeems her. Although, in Kanan's case, guess that proves she was just bland to begin with - Yoshiko at least has that amazing singing voice.

I like that episode where riko-pi was super cute

I wish they kept doing the ChikaRiko S1 parallels. YoshiRiko was really forced

>Music
I'd say SS had a lot of potential to do all of this except for the music. I felt they wanted to pick the shittiest songs they had composed for the anime as bait to buy for B-Side, MV and subunit songs. OG had energy and perkiness I just wasn't feeling from most of the Sunshine songs. They felt very flat and uninspired. (I fucking love Aquarium and the Subunit stuff, spare me.)

>Setting
I can't say much about the setting, as I don't feel like either made much of an impact on the story in a huge way to me. I think they catered well to the characters, though.

>Characters
I felt SS really dried out some characters as characatures worse than OG did at times, but both are pretty bad in their own regards.

>Development
Development is where I want to be biased against Sunshine, but I think it's a biproduct of being a "sequel" to OG is what haunts it in my eyes. Didn't like those early muse circlejerks. Be your own self.

S2 Sunshine essentially murdered all plotlines and buildups, either immediately or at the end. Where was the buildup to the final Love Live performance? It was so abrupt.

It's also terrible they fucked that Saint Snow set of episodes, where it was supposed to be "little sisters singing for our big sisters" turning into "jk we'll do a joint song lol it's snow halation".

I saw a lot of Sunshine trying to copy and twist ideas from OG. I hope that the next girls don't get this kind of treatment and get their own story that isn't a copy paste. Sure, take the idea of the "school closing" thing, but please stop there. Don't copy memes and ideas.

I have tons of OG, but I was hoping Sunshine would make itself seem much different, and it did a half-baked job, and did a shittier job doing so.

>tl;dr
Sunshine tried to stay too close to OG, the anime music was shit, where is the quality of the MV/Subunit songs. I want the next girls to be far more original on their own, less borrowing. Also the ending of SS sucked ass.

>Also the ending of SS sucked ass

We've still got the movie coming at least

I hate drama but I think the closing was perfectly executed in ep 13. Made me tear up but also happy on how could they say goodbye to the school and move on.

I'm crossing my fingers they figure this shit out. I really had high hopes for the last episode to do something right after Miss Frizzles Magic School Bus and "How to Not Do Cartwheels for 15 Minutes".

This. Although, unlike you, I actually enjoyed how the school closing made them somber up. It was a sad parallel to Aqours' struggles of chasing in µ's shadows in real life. The miracles that µ's could achieve are just not possible for Aqours, and that's just something they are forced to live with.

I'm sorry for your hearing impairment, user.

Maybe I used bad wording but I hate drama in general. The whole school ordeal of Sunshine was pretty damn good. The tension, the constant fall but still stand up and fight situations then accepting the inevitable with their heads high was just beautiful. Very typical "don't be sad it's over, be happy that it happened" approach, executed perfectly.

There's no hooks in those choruses, user. It doesn't help that it felt completely overshadowed by OG LL, Aikatsu, Walkure and WUG to me. All of those have music that really make a statement.

I'm curious which of these inserts you actually thought were "better".

you must be completely deaf to think that OGLL has better music than LLSS
from this day I still cannot differentiate a moose song and one of those shitty osu/2hu remixes

aqours has much better sampling and no "125% speed high pitched" garbage that's so common in muse

vocals aren't great either; apart from eli you have kotori/hanayo "anime" voices, maki nasality and fucking nozomi

at least with aqours they're all consistent and even the "bad ones" like suwawa is catching up and furirin doesn't use her ruby voice when she's tired during lives

I have no idea how ucchi managed to become a top singer with her attention whore-ish personality, duck voice and fugly face to be honest

fuck you

Name a good insert song in the anime. Let me know what's "good" about it. They are really, really fucking flat. Compare the insert songs to Aquarium. Shit shouldn't even be compared, that's how much better Aquarium is. I can't believe the same music production crew made those and Aquarium. What a joke.

OG at least had IMPACT in their insert songs. Strong entries, strong choruses.

thats because everything in sunshine just feels like its been done before. the characters are the same, the plot is the same.

when i first watched the original series, their first concert had so much emotional impact when nobody showed up but they sang anyway. they pull the same exact thing in sunshine, except whoops, its because chika messed up the time on the flier! okay sure, that's slightly different but by doing so you took away the impact of that scene. new audiences wont emphasize with aquors and fans of the original will still feel that this is a knockoff of the original

>Mijuku Dreamer
>Omoi yo
>Mirai Ticket
>My Mai Tonight
>Awaken the Power
>Water Blue New World
>Wondeful Stories
I'm not going to bother doing a write up because you keep harping up on some bullshit like impact of the song, especially when fucking KoiAqua is your example of an impactful Aqours song.

This happens so much during the series, and people excuse this. I almost feel like there's fans who felt so distant and late from catching the OG train when it was hot that they feel subconsciously feel the need to think Sunshine is as good. I keep telling myself this because I don't see many people saying things like you do.

GiantBaby.png

It's not? I asked for an explanation and you list basically all the insert songs. What a 10/10 point. I'm really sold on it.

Perhaps you don't actually listen to most idol music and think it's all shit. It's the only possible explanation I can come up with if you won't actually explain your logic.

He doesnt deserve to call himself an Idol fan
-y (`A´) y-

music no but yes for all else

>Walkure and WUG
I was about to actually reply but I changed my mind. I'll just accept that taste in music is subjective.

>I asked for an explanation
It's fucking music you autist. Different people will have different feeling about it and if you want reasoning why one IDOL MUSIC song is better than an other, you're beyond retarded.

I listen to nearly every group you mentioned in your earlier post and I enjoy all of it. However I'm not seeing what Aqours' insert songs are missing that you're claiming they're missing compared to every other group. Maybe you just don't have the same connection to the group which is fine but the songs have strong hooks and great emotional impacts, especially Mijuku Dreamer and Awaken the Power when you include the context of the anime. However this is all subjective really so it's not like anything anyone writes will convince you.

this happens every fucking time in OG
kotori's shoehorned drama, "oops I forgot about my insecurity" rin, eli, umi and maki doing fuck all for the entire S2

OG has no pacing at all; you have honoka solving every issue and curing every deep wound with a fingersnap

The only parallels in those inserts to anything I had to point was from those two from the background orchestration standpoint. I have literally no idea what you're hearing, nor would I ever want to. I pull back my request for an explanation.

Alright which was wierder:
>Honk meeting her future self
>Honk possessing some random child to tell Aqours to follow their own path
>Mari's flying van

The Magic School Bus, hands down. I did a spit take I was laughing so hard at how weird it was.

I wonder what songs people liked from the OG series, I liked most of the SS ones but most of the OG ones were pretty forgettable to me.
Movie songs were an exception though, they were top tier.

The only insert songs that stood out to me were Susume Tomorrow, No Brand Girls, Yume no Tobira, and Start Dash. I won't include Snow Halation because that was already a song long before S2 aired.

KITTO SEISHUN GA KIKOERU is one of the best songs of all time OK it wasnt in the show it was the end themesong but still close enough

For season 1 the KotoHonkUmi start dash, and No brand girls stood out for me and I generally like all of the season 2 songs.

I think it's not mentioned that much because that was kind of the point of Sunshine season 1.
Chika wanted to follow in Muse's footsteps to an obsessive point, even getting excited over her school closing down just so she faces the same struggle they did.

I don't think Sunrise were trying to fool anyone into thinking that they weren't knocking off the OG series, they just tried to subvert people's expectations but I guess they didn't execute it well enough.

I was actually willing to forgive all of Season 2 if they managed to make it stand on it's own merits. A lot of people seemed to think it did that, but I just wasn't emotionally banked into it. I think that's my own fault, but I wish that they gave more fair warning that they just wanted to do good at Love Live and were trying to come to peace early on. They kept spouting KISEKI so much that I was expecting a real miracle to save the school. I don't think most of their direction points were bad. I just didn't buy in because I've seen the idol memes. I appreciated them losing entirely, but I realized the last episode I couldn't invest in their emotions. I feel bad for not being able to, honestly.

By S2 you just have to care for the characters themselves more than the plot if you want to get emotionally invested. Sunshine S2 has it's fair share of imperfections but I like the cast a lot more than I did muse. Even in S2 of the original there were certain characters I was never able to like, and it wasn't for lack of screentime or too much screentime, although that did become a problem with Honk in the movie.

I can see where you're coming from. I enjoyed Season 2 mostly because I was invested in Aqours so I could just be entertained by these 9 girls just doing stuff.
I enjoyed the OG series for similar reasons but I wasn't as emotionally connected to them because I got into the series after the movie aired, and I had no idea then that Muse was about to have their final concert, when I got to that point where Muse disbands, I actually wasn't even upset initially.

But I think the difference is that to be invested in Aqours you have to be a big enough fan of Love Live! to follow their music releases, concerts and try to consume the other content outside of the anime like those shows they do.
I think the OG series is much better at getting you invested in the story of Muse on its own, it's purely anecdotal, but I got really attached to some of the characters without even knowing that they made music, there was a mobile game, they held live shows, etc.

As for sunshine season 2, I actually really liked the plotline of them not being able to save their school and instead keep the memory of it alive, but we never see why these characters even care about their school, aside from Mari arguably. The KISEKI shit probably was there to again subvert expectations, but the pacing was pretty bad this season, a huge chunk of this season felt like it was filler.

This.
People tend to view Love Live as another SOL/CGDCT but they need to realize that the anime are just a fraction of the whole Love Live experience.

Part of my extreme bias comes from the fact that I managed to see Muse at the 5th live and it left quite an impact on my life for a whole slew of reasons. Most songs in a live format can add even more to how much you invest in characters and songs.

I have the Movie still in it's wrapping,
haven't watched S2 since it aired and can't get myself to watch the movie again. Sunny Day Song basically puts me in tears.

I hope some of you can gain some of that from Sunshine, but I unfortunately don't see myself being one of them.

I just hope the next girls make a mark that is very unique and different from OG and SS. I want a different kind of magic.

Damn dude, that's understandable. I hope I can see Aqours at one of their live shows.
I was thinking about going to a delayed viewing, but I pussied out.
If I got into Love Live when in 2013, or even earlier, I would probably have been an emotional wreck after Muse disbanded, and seeing it in the movie and the final live.

Yeah, the anime is surprisingly only a small part of something much bigger. It is a big part in itself but people don't understand just how deep, pardon the term, idol hell goes.

They never will. Most of Sup Forums is so much anime only that they even complain about the occasional seiyuu posting. Then they complain about the lack of emotional attachment. The 2 goes hand in hand, LL is really about going past the anime.
But to be honest, I also didn't get much of that until I went to my first live years ago. That changed everything to the level that LL (in it's entirety) is now an integral part of my life and personality.

Muse started me down that path. I go to Japan solely around going to lives because of this idol hell I've stepped into. It's scary.

I held back tears when I first saw Sunny Day Song. I broke down for 20 minutes after I heard it a second time. I suspect Aquors will be just as unfair to you folks.

My nig, the same here. The only difference is that it was already Aqours time by the time I moved to Nipland. I had the ticket for Last live but work fucked me over. I did manage to get to all of Aqours' lives though and the effect is hard to describe. At that point, you understand how people can have such a strong bonds with this show.

That sucks, but I hope you've managed to make up for it while being there. I wouldn't even say idol lives are the only magical thing to experience, but just Anisong lives in general.

I'm going in February for Walkure, Aikatsu and Symphogear. If you rolled on Symhpogear, I hope you won.

>Can't discuss seiyuu and SIF on Sup Forums
>Can't have civilized discussion on /vg/
where do we go bros?

reddit if you're a prick who cant have any fun
facebook if you actually use facebook in current year
tumblr if you have an irrational hatred towards the current U.S. President and his supporters.

You can discuss seiyuu here just fine if you ignore the few faggots that complain, and their number really declined recently. For SIF you can go to /vg/ if you can stomach that pile of shit.

I guess we're finally rid of the anime only shitposters.

No, I actually couldn’t even go to Japan, despite I had everything booked.
But the company really did its best to compensate, part of that is while I can live here now.

Kitto Seishun is something special even among the fantastic Love Live EDs, maybe it's just because it's first, but it's the most nostalgic Love Live songs for me

The Aqours live show in Shanghai is on nyaa if anyone is interested

Is the new CYaRon niconama this Friday or Saturday?
