Everybody expected an episodic monster of the week Strike Witches clone and what we got was a heavily plot focused story that actually applies show don't tell. I won't call it ground breaking but it's definitely underrated. You can tell by the amount of people who've come in criticizing it when they clearly don't even understand the plot so far, and it's not that complicated.

I liked how the "animation error" of episode 1 was actually a plot point.

What's underrated about it?
Ok, that one girl is actually a monster, but everything else is absolutely nothing special. You get generic genki girl and generic serious girl for main characters who want to kill the big bad, and they have your typical backstory about their moms. The woman who wants punish the girls is obviously made to be the annoying, screaming type because how else will we undestand that we're not supposed to sympathize to her but to the other two kind and caring women. Everyone else in the cast is the literal definition of stock all girls mobage characters.

Kanami is far more focused, disciplined and observant than a generic genki girl you faggot. She was even a little unsure in the last episode. They balanced her pretty well.

I think you haven't seen enough anime with genki girls if you consider what she did to be something out of the norm. There have been plenty of genki leads like that in the recent seasons: Chika, Honoka, Papika, Waka, Hibiki, the list could go on and on.
