Honorable mentions: Muhyo to Rosie no Mahōritsu Sōdan Jimusho (who knows this manga?), Mx0 (yeah anons, I know it hurts), Hatsukoi Limited

Very nice quality threads OP. keep going

Why don’t you include Mx0? I want to know your rationale

Let's review lineup of that time

>Naruto
>Bleach

The era of the Big 3.

Must end reading Darkness

Haruna a best

Toriko is best shonen jump

>Nobody commented Takeshi

Why

This one was so good, what went wrong with it?

What the fuck was Timcanpy?

thanks for reminding me how shitty shonen jump is
barely a dozen good mangas in 50 years

A golem

It's your taste, mate.

Best opening

youtube.com/watch?v=wiebiFHeodg

Ah, anime boom peak years.

This, Toriko is fucking great.

...

Who is ready for Gintama ending?

>Muhyo to Rosie no Mahōritsu Sōdan Jimusho
This is coming back soon.

The Author worked as assistant for Gintama, that's why the two manga are pretty similar. In fact, they did many crossover episodes both in manga and anime

This was the most shocking axe in the history of Jump.

Author must have been a pedophile or something.

The opening is pretty cool, is the manga any good?

Pretty sure it wasn't axed.

When they won the battle with the big bad who literally was omnipresent and had omniknowledge. I jumped ship beacuse of the stupid premise it was, with travels in time mixed in.

Lala is so fucking perfect

>2005+13
>Still no official english Neuro release
It hurts

The manga is great, though I wish there were more one-off cases in the end. The anime is a dumpster fire, but the Opening and Ending are solid. Yako Katsuragi is best girl of all manga.

> Not LISTEN TO THE STEREO TONIGHT TONIGHT TONIGHT

Thanks, I guess I'll give it a read

Oh man I was going to post Best opening with Opening 2 too. Good taste user

Varia arc was the best. Future arc had potential but was dragged on shit in the end.

I will always be thankful for this one, it showed me the lesson that sometimes something is so shitty that you just have to drop it. Thank Reborn!

This one was so boring and generic, only recently it finally got good.

I only remember the anime though

First thread where I know every series OP posted.

It was fun. Papillion was like kumagawa to me, and elevated it from average.

>It's ending next week
Nani? I hope they're getting an extra long chapter to wrap everything up

I love the art for this. Not as stylish as bleach but it was great to look at. The dying will flames was an interesting concept. Ending sucked.

Super interesting

I never thought this was interesting

F

Bleach reference? Buso Renkin confirmed for bro.

It was at the bottom of the rankings for a full year. It was allowed to do everything it wanted to do.

It's because I was a teen back then and the nostalgia, but I think this is a pretty solid lineup.

This was the start of the era where things started to go really wrong and when it was very hard to have new manga start because of all the established hits, horrible time.

Pray for the mangaka, also got Kagamigami cancelled. My man can't catch a break.

I wanna say it's because of nostalgia but god damn that's a solid lineup

Jump got complacent. Instead of risking for newer series and letting the 00 hits like Nardo and Belch end properly, it kept extending their lifetime until what’s left is an unrecognizable rotting husk.

That was one of their biggest mistakes and they're still suffering because of it now. What a dumb move. It hurt the magazine in many ways, the readers and I'm sure many young talented artists missed their opportunity because of WSJ's bad decision making.

wasnt it the other way around?

And i can't wait for this cycle to repeat in the 2020's as OP and MHA last forever.while BC is quietly forgotten

One Piece will probably go on for 5-10 more years and I doubt the author of BNHA will stretch out the story.

Dunno. I mean. Jump is risking now and it got some hits (Assasination Classroom, Promised Neverland, Dr.Stone).

I feel both Magazine and Sunday did the same than Jump, but unlike Jump they got nothing this decade. Fairy Tail, Hayate no Gotoku, Negima, Kami Nomi, Magi, etc have ended. Right now between Magazine and Sunday only important title from this decade is Nanatsu no Taizai (and maybe Fire Force but it isn't getting the relevance Soul Eater had)

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Opening in better quality.

youtube.com/watch?v=nCJxXeADYNo

Also great manga, better than bleach

This manga took one of the worst nosedives EVER

I hope Raiku can bounce back for Magazine.

One thing I liked about Buso Renkin MC is that he's the first MC I know whose weapon is a spear, and not a sword or a gun

Spears are cool, a pity they are overshadowed by swords

The last cool JUMP era.

The problem is, Jump are only risking it now, when it's too late in a lot of ways. Letting Naruto and Bleach go on for forever was a large mistake, the first part of the mistake. Then around 2007-2011 it was very hard to break into the magazine because of all the stuff that was going on for longer than necessary and even after 2012 produced 4 new hits, the issue with manga continuing for too long was still present and it was still almost impossible to break into the magazine. 2013 produced one title for the magazine.

Then I feel like at around 2014 Jump finally realized they fucked up big time and they were desperate to get new hit manga, they realized they have to change their approach as soon as possible, or the magazine would suffer immensely. They realized that they will soon have to end the majority of their lineup, they couldn't just maintain the same lineup for another 10 years. Then Naruto finally finished at the end of 2014 and that was the start of the cleanup. Why are manga that go on for longer than they should a problem? Because it makes it hard to get into the magazine as a new reader. If a big series ended then a large part of the WSJ readership would lose interest in the magazine altogether. For example Naruto and Bleach were very popular manga, but the magazine is called WSJ, not fucking Naruto and Bleach Magazine with some side dishes.

In 2014 they got two new very promising excellent manga, one took off while the other one stagnated, but they kept it for later. In 2015 Jump were so desperate they accepted trash like BC like it was a very worthwhile battle shounen, but they had no choice, 2015 didn't produce anything better for the magazine.

(1/2)

Then the wave of big names finishing started, Kochikame, Nisekoi, Toriko, Bleach and Ass Class all finished, they got rid of the things that really did not need to continue on any longer to get some new hits. They did their best to harvest their 2013 title, with somewhat mediocre results and then things went even worse because the author got so sick the manga basically ended up in hiatus for over 1 year and the hiatus is ongoing. They did their best for BNHA to take off and they succeeded, next on the line was BC, but that always seemed to fail to take off naturally, the big promotion attempt it got was a failure in the end, the manga didn't stick with readers.

In 2016 new hits were finally starting to settle in with Neverland, Yuuna and Kimetsu no Yaiba, some new things were finally sticking, then in 2017 half of the titles from the 6 start-up initiative managed to maintain a place in the magazine. Finally a new wave of manga was present in the magazine, but a little bit too late, the magazine suffered a large readership drop and WSJ manga didn't instantly become hits any longer, except for a few.

Yes, Sunday and Magazine fucked up even harder than WSJ, they also woke up, they also copied WSJ and had 6 new manga startups or a bunch of new manga.

(2/2)

Final note, WSJ, Sunday and Magazine have very solid promising lineups currently, so things kind of balanced out in the end.

>Naruto finally finished at the end of 2014
Holy fucking shit it's been almost 4 years, what the fuck.

youtube.com/watch?v=_sBizpKdDAk

What solid titles from this decade besides Nanatsu would you say Sunday and Magazine have?

Is this the worst 'generation'? Death Note and Gintama stand out of course and D.Gray-Man almost looks interesting but everything else is pretty much shit ain't it?

Hoping what does Jump in 2018. Right now they have 4 new titles (Full Drive, Golem Hearts, Bozebeats, Actage), and Gintama is ending now so there is going to be one free spot (two spots when HxH enters in hiatus again).

OP here. If you notice, there have been 9 titles. Without counting two first threads, every other thread had +10 titles.

Also, if I've calculated well, next thread will have 10 titles, and final one 7-9

It's okay, but not godlike like the previous generation.

As Spanishfag I wanted to also say: this is the period we stop getting Jump anime in spanish TV (well, indeed it was previous period, still we got Shaman King, Bobobo, and Black Cat, and Naruto and Bleach got strange schedules for very short time)

From this period I only recall Death Note, and D.Gray-man in Cartoon Network. Then, we stopped getting anime in TV.

From next years we got for DVD in spanish Assasination Classroom and Haikyuu, and we are getting Black Clover too (surprisingly, no Hero Academia or Kuroko for us)

For us Spanishfags, this is also the period where we stopped getting ''big hits''. Without counting Big 3, only title which was very succesful here was Death Note. Rest of titles aren't important here (althought Hero Academia is starting to get a lot of fans here)

I'm with you user but my god does the nostalgia is strong with this one

why? i wanted to give it try since i love death note and bakuman but no time college is a bitch ;-;

Italyfag here, we still get plenty of new anime here though most of them are just subbed. We've got Highschool DxD (ALL the seasons up until now, uncensored), DanMachi and DanMachi Gaiden, PriPri, Shirobako, Haikyuu, the various Danganronpa series, AssClass, Aria, Black Jack...

Enen No Shoubotai, Hoshino,Me wo Tsubutte., Senryuu Shoujo, Fumetsu no Anata e, Runway de Waratte, Kanojo Okarishimasu, 5-toubun no Hanayome and Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet.

Full Drive and Golem Hearts are dead already. Act-age and Bozebeats didn't have the strongest starts so they are not safe.

Huefag here, yeah it was pretty much the same. Just to add that we got DBZ to be replayed over and over

I did not notice you asked for Sunday. And I'm only going through on-going manga. It's not like I'm skipping over much since you are right, not much happened, only recently there has been a positive increase of promising manga.

Yugami-kun ni wa Tomodachi ga Inai, Birdmen, Psyche Matashitemo, MAJOR 2nd, Sōbōtei Kowasubeshi, Komi-san wa, Community-shō desu.,Maoujou de Oyasumi, Maiko-san chi no Makanai-san, Hoankan Evans no Uso: Dead or Love, Youkai Giga, Ariadne in the Blue Sky and Marry Grave.

They also have Dagashi Kashi as a popular series, but I never managed to get into it.

All of these desperately need more growth.

I believe Shueisha is afraid of One Piece ending, it would make their number of readers drop dramatically, so don't be surprised if One Piece last for the next 10-15 years, if Oda's health allows that of cource

I watched 15 episodes of the anime adaptation it was funny

Of course they are afraid, when OP ends, half of the magazine's readers might leave. This is why these kinds of manga are blessings but also dangerous, this is why WSJ needs a constant flow of new manga and a repeated cycle, to keep readers interested in all the things going on, not in just one manga.

I read six volumes of this not bad but it just felt really generic the "hopscotching" timeline plots where interesting though

I confess I read currently Jump for Hero Academia, Neverland, Shokugeki, Dr.Stone and We Can't Learn. I usually ignore One Piece

Apart from To-Love-Ru, Gintama and Death Note, this was a pretty forgettable period

I just wish Shueshia would give more properties a chance to grow. IIRC One Piece didn't become the hit it is until Alabasta.

That is what they are doing right now. The bad shit just gets axed.

But Nisekoi ran for 200+ chapters.

Thanks OP. Your threads have been great so far.
Do you plan to do similar thing with other magazines like Sunday, Magazine and Champion?
It is fine if you don't have time or interest in it. It is just my curiosity wondering.

This
i want a Sunday thread

OP here. Thinking in do it, yes. If I do it, it will be Magazine first, then Sunday

Hopefully they learned their lesson and just let series end when they’re supposed to end, as they did with AssClass

They cleansed it in the 2015 purge I talked about above.
Nisekoi was also the most relevant and biggest romcom in years in shounen magazines.

*2016

The ending was complete garbage.

And yet, worst girl won
