What'd you guy think about this preview?
Megalo Box

Thanks for your input.
Where exactly does this take place in Joe?
Get some brains.
Is this anime Real Steel?
Are the exoskeletons powered by oxygen in their muscles?
This looks to take place in the future, although I'm not sure if there's anything connecting it to Ashita no Joe beyond some superficial aspects.
Sure.
Fuck off Kamogawa, you hack.
>This looks to take place in the future
yeah seems like it the only thing that confuses me is that Youko is there, or at least someone that looks like her
So is going to be like Creed?
Visually interesting but really fucking dumb as a concept.
Overall I am cautiously optimistic.
I think they might just be "borrowing" some elements of Yoko's design but the character is different. Like that gayer looking future version of Rikiishi that's also in the PV.
MANime is back, baby!
TMS seems to be pretty busy at least, what with this, the new Lupin series, and a new Baki anime all coming up very soon.
Wouldn't one hit with that kind of 'power-up' knock you out for good if you don't have a mechanical body?
I'm sure it would do way more than just knocking out but they have anime bodies
No other studio comes close to the rich history TMS has so I trust them. I like the idea of Megalo Box but I still don't get the whole mechanical arm things. What even are they? Are they suppose to make you hit harder and faster? Why not just get rid of the gloves then? It just feels gimmicky and shouldn't belong to anything related to Joe. I still don't know if it takes place in a different universe or it's some sort of continuation. It comes out in April and there is no information on it. I'm going to assume it takes place in the same universe because the synopsis says
>JD (Junk Dog) participates in fixed boxing matches in an underground ring in order to live. Today, he enters the ring again, but he encounters a (((certain person))). JD wants to take on a challenge that risks everything".
Clearly it's going to be a familiar character. Why would they bother keeping a new character we know nothing about a secret? I'm optimistic, but all this new shit has me worried.
There's not really a lot of information on how megalo boxing is supposed to work, so all there is to go by is what's in the trailer...which is most definitely exaggerated.
Also, come to think of it, there aren't even character profiles on the website.
>Why would they bother keeping
Because that's how descriptions work usually.
If it's some kind of monster then it's "they encounter unknown horror" instead of detailed desctiption.
If it's a story of achievements then it's "he bets everything on it" etc.
I don't think there will be an actual explanation aside from "it looks cool shut up"
>I don't think there will be an actual explanation
If this was an Ippo related anime then we could could give it a pass, but Joe is much more than just boxing.
It's literally the same fucking person. We cannot honestly sit here and pretend like this is a new character.
Don't be silly. One is clearly hotter than the other.
The character desings look like Kawajiri's style.
>this is a new character
It's a thing called referencing. It's 'literally' a new story with some of the same characters.
They're definitely going for something that evokes the look of 70s Madhouse imo.
Honestly some part of me wonders if the reazon they're withholding stuff is because they're behind on production schedule.
A better way to do something like this is TO focus on this new character and have it take place during Joe's run on top. It would be cool to see his perspective as a guy trying to become a pro. Maybe even have him in the arena the fight Joe died and we see him sitting on his stool but only from the back where our new protagonist is seated. I think connecting it but not having Joe's story be in the foreground would be an amazing idea. Plus it's Joe's 50th anniversary. I'd like SOME fanservice. It would suck not seeing him pop up in the show since this is the first animated Joe anything in over 30 years.
They could literally survive off of Lupin and Conan forever so the fact they still do other shit is pretty great. Hoping they are doing the new Animaniacs.
So what're the chances of us seeing some flashbacks of Joe fighting niggas?
It definitely looks like Kabaneri, director-kun was even conceptual designer on it.
high if we're assuming that it all takes place in the same timeline. It's never been officially said if Joe exists in the show's lore. Joe was a boxer and this seems to be some sort of experimental gimmicky type of boxing so I don't see Joe playing a factor on the story.
