Apparently something's going on with her since Fujitaka hasn't been able to see her for a while, but now Sakura did for the first time and he couldn't. Perhaps it has something to do with the Clear plot

Popularity + sells + casual interest hasn't died off over the years + best studio's support = you get the point

There's a theory going around that I don't really subscribe to (at least for now), that the clear cards are basically a parallel to the clow cards, and that the "illusion" version of the clear cards should be the next card to capture (note that Sakura has only ever seen her mom before thanks to that card), so Nadeshiko might be another illusion, or she's there to warn Sakura about something.

I don't think that's the case.
Cards like Record, Appear, Spiral and Lucid have no possible counterparts out of the original 19 cards. I think time is the key factor in this arc, and probably Nadeshiko or past events have a role in it.

I'm on ep 54 of the original series. Probably the fastest I've watched a long runner like this. How good is Clear so far?

It's fine but not enough that feels new yet

It's the best sequel of a 90's anime to date.
It recaptures the original feeling of the anime, including usage of old soundtracks and the entire seiyuu cast, production cast and consulting from Clamp members. 4th episode comes out this saturday and it'll get the main plot to move to a really interesting direction. I'm greatly enjoying it. It's also a sequel to the original anime instead of the manga, like some people claimed it to be earlier.

Clear Card has both a manga and anime. The manga is a sequel to the original manga and the anime is a sequel to the original manga, though it's still an adaptation and some continuity things are a bit messy. The new plot wasn't written taking the anime continuity into account.

That's why I said I didn't agree with that theory either, but it's still something to think about. All the cards you listed plus stuff like Snooze (Sleep wasn't in the manga as a card) and Action have no obvious parallel, but cards like Gale, Aqua, Labyrinth, Siege (if you want to stretch the possibilities of the Shield card), Blaze do have an obvious parallel, so maybe half of them are clow cards/sakura cards evolutions and half of them aren't.

It's good, kind of a slow burn but there's a few interesting mysteries in the manga especially after the latest chapters. Keep up with your marathon.

Yeah, I still think the Clear Cards are entirely different beings from the Clow creatures. Especially after Syaoran used what seems to be Windy-chan in the latest chapter

I admit I was one of the people who recommended reading the manga to people because the OVA was called "clear card prologue", but then it ended up being just a bonus for manga readers. Awkward.

Yeah it was confusing but the OVA was only a bonus gift for manga readers and that's it.

Yeah I was wondering if Syaoran and Eriol momentarily stole or deactivated the cards so Yuna/Akiho couldn't take the Clow book, but then it seems like Sakura is doing all this work to capture/create the clear cards and it's not even going to benefit her in the future and I don't know how I feel about that

That's the point when i get lost. Akiho came to Japan in the search of the Sakura book, but the clear cards have no book and she seems to have the one for them, aka the "Alice in Clockland" book. Meanwhile the cloaked figure, which seems to be Akiho unconsciously, wants the DREAM key instead of the star one. So what are Yuna's intentions? And Akiho doesn't even have powers, so who's gonna use them, Yuna? Is Akiho a guardian instead of a mage? It's all confusing but that's good since the Eriol arc was too predictable

We have the same doubts, my newest theory is that Yuna can shapeshift into that dragon

Akiho's memories are in the clear cards in a subtle reference to TRC.

That actually might be a good theory. Though you'd have to explain how the new clear cards fit into this. It does seem like the cloaked figure/Akiho didn't give Sakura the key and tried a couple of times to take it back. So I think it makes sense that Sakura maybe created the key subconsciously. If she did that then maybe people are right that she's creating the new cards too. So Eriol and Syaoran are trying to keep Yuna and Akiho from getting the Sakura cards and maybe too trying to figure out a way to combat them while Sakura is chasing after new cards. Though the dream of the cloaked figure and the cards turning clear does seem kind of coincidental. But maybe the bear Syaoran brought back had a spell that Eriol put on it to trigger the card clearing if someone attacked Sakura in her dreams.

While I do like the suspense and mystery to some degree the way Clamp are doing it does kind of get on my nerves at times.

The bear has to have some relevance so I agree. Also I would laugh forever if they just swapped the Sakura cards with pieces of normal plastic and that's why no one can sense any magic in them

What about the present that Yuki had Toya give Sakura that she put inside the box with her Star Key?

Well Syaoran used a card in the most recent chapter. Maybe you're right and Eriol and Syaoran just managed to steal the Sakura cards and replace them and the card Syaoran used was a Sakura card.

That's possible too. Though I think it's less likely since Yukito/Yue doesn't seem to know much of anything about what's happening. Though maybe he's just acting ignorant.

I still don't know what the clear cards are, maybe Sakura's magic is going haywire and compensating for the lack of cards she had to sustain before by creating new cards. And now that they can't take the Clow/Sakura cards anymore perhaps Akiho/Yuna have changed their target to the clear cards.

In the anime is was totally one-sided from Rika's side so it wasn't that huge of a deal. The manga is a whole different story.
