Damn it football (soccer) in anime is often so painful to watch.
Though the drama is actually believable, he's like two of the worst type of players to play with rolled in one. They had all the reasons to drop him. But then I also understands him getting angry and throwing a hissy fit, the high competitive low self esteem without the obsessive drive to actually improve is believable.
Though this should have been a movie with a sad ending, and not a single episode where he learns his mistakes.

We need more bait with Yuu acting like he is his wife by the way.

The insane melodrama is a big part of the charm for me. I was hooked as soon the Purinfag had an emotional breakdown in the rain before declaring how much he loved The Product.

I agree, though I think this episode was sorta bad regardless, too much drama at the same time, they should have spaced it better.
