I love this trope

I'll go with a rare one.
>MC (or another character) isn't fighting/playing as a means to an end, rather, the fight/match is the goal itself, is the life for that character; everything else is a break, a rest between games. For this reason, to continue having even bigger thrills and experience life to its full potential, he gives the best opponent he has faced so far an incentive to continue the deathmatch, rather than running away while having an advantage and securing his survival. One of the very rare cases where it's acceptable to see someone surrender an advantage and efficiency, because as stated before, the match isn't the mean for a goal, but the goal in itself.

>hero goes on a solo all-out killing streak in the finale
bonus if they die

>Jackass has no powers and skirts along with world-class bullshitting

>Mocky and Ronald end the dream

>tropes
Fucking idiot.

What would you call it then?

Naruto was shit for the most part, but god damn, that was probably the best death scene there is.

I don't know how it happened but somehow everything related to Jiraiya was good. The Pain arc (starting from the rain village infiltration) was compelling. Can't say the same about the rest of the manga.

I loved Jiraiya. When this chapter came out I had to go back and reread it five times because I couldn't believe they were killing him off. Then Kakashi died and even though he came back I had already lost what little interest I had left.

When Third Hokage died to Orochimaru, that was a really good death scene.

>villain going out so pathetically you actually feel sorry for them
Love this one.

Who is Goku?
Who is Joseph?

>MC is not the chosen one gets betrayed by the
real chosen one

>Hero is pushed to far and the Villain regrets it

>pushing past physical limits through sheer willpower

stoic/comedic character finally breaks down as they acknowledge their mortality

Literally Akagi.

You motherfucker.

...

shhhh your gonna wake them

>protagonist is lawful evil

...

Hisoka, Goku, rappa.
Characters who live for the fight are not that rare.

>MC is dying or straight up dies
>Even the villain is torn up about it

Examples?

...

My nigga

youtu.be/Y5ZOQ4s6akY

>comedic relief character is actually the best girl

>villain and hero temporarily team up

>villain and hero both sacrify themselves for the same cause

This is one of, if not, my favorites.

>coward/comic relief character finally finds some courage to defend what he believes in
>has a hard-fought battle against a far superior foe
>loses, but gets shockingly close to winning and the stronger opp acknowledges it

youtube.com/watch?v=9bfp_ubBgbc

they are his self inserts, seeing as how he is a mangaka with no talent

Where does this happen? Pretty sure I've read a manga where it happens, but I can't remember where.

Ten

>guy who constantly talks shit or makes himself out to be strong is actually one of the strongest characters

...

>Alucard
>Villain
He's an asshole, but he's nominally on the side of good as long as Integra holds his leash

anderson is the only 100% pure good character in hellsing ultimate.

Inuyashiki

Yes, but Hellsing has Alucard one of the 3 protagonists, so Anderson is by definition one of the "villains" of the story, even if he is entirely right, up until he shanks himself with the Nail

I didn't need these feels, fuck you.

Crazy superpowered action show ends with protagonist and main bad guy having a normal ass fist fight is my favorite ending

alucard's not a protagonist, he's an almost literal deus ex machina.

and I don't even mean that in a negative way. He's almost 100% a non-character, serving only to do as his master commands. Hellsing ultimate is the story of Seras and Integra, with alucard merely serving as the force carrying forth Integra's will and helping Seras achieve her potential.

But we still see enough from his perspective to make him a protagonist.
Even if you dispute the fact that Alucard is a protagonist, Anderson still opposes Integra, the Hellsing Organization and Seras on principle, even if he allys himself with them once Maxwell goes off the deep end.
Hellsing is chock full of flipflops like this, but that actually works to it's benefit, because we have a straight up murderer as one of the main characters, and, like you said, the most morally good character on the opposing side

>random citizen gets very temporarily pulled into crazy conflict
>it happens to him again later on
>ends up as a reoccurring character

Dunno if all three things happens often enough to be called a trope though.

Not that I can really argue the point, but can I just say how fucking incredible hellsing is?

There is no goddamn justification for it being as good as it is.

>hero uses the techniques of his fallen friends to defeat the villain that killed them
Anyone got any more examples of this one? The only one I can think of is the Unconcious Transmigration scene from HnK but I can't find any good pics for that.

the entire plot of this series was the kid using his dead friends' weapons.

The final fight in fortissimo.

It's a nonstop edgefest, but that actually makes it good to watch. It's got tits, blood, morally ambiguous villains, and villains who were 100% right
Plus, it makes for a REALLY entertaining Abridged series

I really need to finish Ultimate. Dropped it at the 6th OVA.

JoJo?

I think it works for the same reason Warhammer 40,000 works. It's so over the top and edgy that it doesn't try and take itself seriously. Shit is brought up out of nowhere, they don't try and make sense of other shit, and the main face of the series is an invincible godlike entity.

but because of that, it gets to revel in the silliness and give some fantastic scenes and a wonderful setting.

Until I rewatched the OVAs, I actually started to think the abridged series was just as good as the original.

I have this shirt.

Didnt use his technique against the killer(maybe) but Guts from Berserk pretty much inherited JudeauĀ“s belt and knifes after his death and uses them regularly in his fights.

>1st op starts playing during the final decisive battle

>Romance series doesn't fuck around, and the main pairing get together halfway through, with the rest of the series focusing on their relationship and friends, and the consequences of dating a dumpire

Do these actually exist or is just another false hope?

Oh gosh I love that shit too, Shakugan no Shana did it at the end, it felt really nice with the entire theme of the anime
[YouTube] Shakugan no shana Final Episode 24 english subs (embed)

fuck me, got too excited that I forgot to turn off the trip, literally kill me mate

I mean, I posted the only example I know of

>mid-boss level enemy joins MC and friends after being defeated and seeing the light
>bonus points if he starts getting in on their wacky hijinks later on

>weak and cowardly, foolish and wicked character constantly suffers but never gives up on their dreams of being better
Maybe I just sympathise with Matahachi, but characters seem more human than any others. I'll always root for them even when nobody else will.

That was shit compared to my guy Sharkman's death. Nardo was fiull of bullshit from start to finish but this was definitely his last well-written scene for the only Akatsuki member that wasn't trash.

Quite a fitting end I would say.

SAO may be shit, but that was the one thing I will always defend from that shit heap
plus it was pretty cute

i never understood why 300cc kept getting extracted from him when he was winning every game in those rounds.

>Fucker commits suicide to keep his honor intact, and dies as the most based villain in the series, having been the only member of the Akatsuki to actually try and form a bond with his partner
Kisame really was the best

Love Hina is pretty fucking long and nothing happens for like 300 chapters, but the pair does get together, and the manga goes for like...100 chapters more? Also, Kaichou Wa Maid Sama, but in that, there are several layers, since the protagonist doesnt want anyone to know she is in love with that guy, and then when the dating starts she doesnt want anyone to know that they are dating.

Power up through rage

Washizu made a few tsumo, but he never managed to ron Akagi in the whole night

Horimiya?

not the mc but it also falls under the "nobody can kill him but me" trope

youtube.com/watch?v=jKudeUxh7Ek

shippudden did that shit perfectly escelating between giant monsters to jutsu to fistfight

I think the biggest reason why I actually loved Mother's Rosario from SAO II was because of that trope and this:
>a character of respect is given a final salute of many people before their passing
youtube.com/watch?v=HSD9Nq6TgI4

Diavolo deserved better

I just can't believe he was the only villain worth a damn in the series besides Kimimaru and Zabuza. What a fucking a shame but at least some of the guys were given some justice.

...

>Dies

I didn't want these feels. Fuck you guys

You absolute sadist madman

>character who's trying to put up a brave face starts breaking down

>power of friendship

Who the fuck would want to live forever anyways?

What the fuck how did I manage to cry bitch tears on this scene when I don't even know what's happening.

Forced drama.

>hero's is against an overwhelming force that they cannot possibly win and dies
Regardless of the asspull at the end, Saito vs 70,000 was heart-gripping.

>even the villain acknowledged how bat-shit insane the mc is

>I dont want to die

>Everything thinks MC is a genius mastermind

I fucking love this and how accurate this is

Post more of this please. I have no idea what it is. I need some heart warming shit right now.

He was too good for the new world. Truly the best man for the job.

>MC and rival's special moves are actually two halves of the same ultimate move

this would be good if it was an actual point of weakness or development for the character. its usually more of a villain trait, isnt it? or vaguely non-heroic side character.

whats that gif from?

It's a series about stupid, cute, and happy monsters like vampires, aliens, and werewolves being cute and stupid. It's heartwarming, pretty fucking funny, and overall one of my favorite manga
