Hunter x Hunter

I while back I saw a thread about different power systems in anime and Hunter x Hunter was portrayed very favorably along such classics as the Jojo stand system. Being in the mood for a good battle series and having heard plenty of good things about Hunter x Hunter before I decided to give it a watch.

Minor annoyances started showing up almost right away. Such as the fact that everyone in this world seem to be a total psychopath, indeed a twelve year old boy sees multiple people die without batting an eye. I don't belive that even the most hardend soldiers are as stone cold as the children in this show. In general people in Hunter x Hunter act mostly according to some fariy logic far removed from what drives ordinary humans.

That wasn't such a huge issue though, I'm here for the fights, almost all of which has been as anticlimatic as the fights in One Punch Man without the whole joke aspect. I figured a lot of this was caused by Killua whose mere presence seem to drag the show down quite a lot. Seriously, if someone told me that Killua is really an elaborate parody on shonen cool kids like Sasuke from Naruto I might belive them.

Anyway as said I didn't care much about the nonsensical characters and I assumed that the fights would get better as the show went along but then I watched episode 19 where Gon fights the ninja guy and it was one of the stupidest things I have ever seen in any piece of media which is really saying something. So I ask you, is the whole show like this? Can Gon always win because he wants to? Does he ever start to think rationally? Does the fights ever get satisfying to watch? Am I just to old for this show (22)? I hope not, there are to few good battle focused shows and I really want to like this one.

Is this a pasta?
Anyway, are you watching the shitty 2011's re-adaptation by MadHouse by any chance? If so, You're missing tons of material + vastly superior visual design if you are.

No, Gon won't always win, and things do escalate and become more complex later on.
The ninja fight was goddamn great, and played by the rules. It's gonna be totally different whenever they're actually fighting for their lives.

>too old for this show (22)?
Kid, go back to school.
I marathoned everything HxH related for the first time last year, and loved it. Also just recently started rewatching the 1999 version w/ my wife, and we've ben having a good time. We're both 30, btw.

>then I watched episode 19 where Gon fights the ninja guy
that doesn't happen before episode 28. That is, unless you're watching the butchered ADHD 2011 remake.

stop shilling the awful 1999 version, nobody likes it except tryhards

>8 years older
>calling them a kid
dont say that like your tremendously more mature

Fuck off faggot. 1999 version had literally, unironically superior EVERYTHING. This is coming from someone with no touch with HxH IP whatsoever before 2016.

When a literal late-teen child is trying to act "2old", he's just that: a fucking kid. It's amazing how steep the generation gaps can be between people.

>shilling 20 years old series that's not only hard to purchase, but you can literally watch for FREE on Youtube
you're not the smartest kid around, huh?

Keep on watching 11 desu. If you don’t like it by the time you finish the phantom troupe arc, you might as well drop the show. Also, Killua ends up turning less edgy and becomes the purest character in the show.

>phantom troupe arc,
That arc was raped the most in 2011. Jesus fuck who ever directed and animated the MadHouse version should be publicly executed.

Nen is an awful power systeme. I'm pretty sure Togashi pulled that shit out of his in 3 min to make the Arena arc less boring.
HxH drones eat that shit tho and praise it like everything else in this trash managa.

HxH is ok. I really don't see it as much different as dragonball or one piece.
Pick what MC's you like the most and watch their show.

>Pick what MC's you like the most and watch their show.
while I agree, the problem with this is that they dont get equal space to breathe, and generally you're out of luck if you dont like gon

MC as in Luffy, Goku, Gon, Ichgo, Natsu or Nartuo .
HXH really dosn't do anything new. Its magic system isnt amazing, just has less asspulls then most.

Read the manga. Neither anime adaptation has been good. Also Gon and Killua have both been written out of the series at this point so maybe you'd like the last however many chapters.

>r-read the m-manga its go-od i swear-r
its trash and you should be ashamed of youself for reading it

Animeonlies are subhumans.

oh ok
yeah I agree with you on that note as well. Also I think Togashi regressed with his protagonists; Yusuke is better

You know what to do with shitposts.

FagxFag anime is shit too.

its solid if you skim past the walls-of-text and look at the updated art versions

The first 3 arcs aren't really about the fights, they're adventures with a couple of fights sprinkled in. But yes, the power system gets introduced after the Exam and I have yet to meet a battlefag who doesn't like it.
Also, I'd recommend watching the 1999 version then switching where it ends.

I don't understand someone saying this for this show. 1999 skips nothing and 2011 almost nothing.

>1999 looks like terrifying nightmare of an older sibling you'd fear even when he's not around
>2011 looks like some dweeb who wouldn't be respected by a younger sibling
