I seen threads like this before.

From what we know of the Nico Tanigawa, the writer is a scumbag and the artist is a mess of self-esteem issues. Both of them dumped aspects of their personality into Tomoko, but it's pretty clear how they're divided here.

Glasses is just trying to be nice

The blonde one is the only one of the three who's actually there because he likes books. He doesn't give a damn about the girl.

Glasses is into books and anyone sharing his interests seems to please him.

Yeah, Glasses just wants a book friend to talk books with. Kind of like Nemo and Kuro in WataMote when it comes to being otaku, except a little more high quality writing is involved.

I feel bad for Glasses he just want a friend.

He makes weird comments later about how he has a violent father, but it doesn't bother him because it makes him feel closer to his novel protagonists. So he's either insanely into books, really really lonely for a friend, or a little bit of both.
