It's an anime original, so it doesn't have an existing fandom to draw numbers from, and for a "Gainax" mecha anime it's really underwhelming.
Still doing a lot better than most other shows this season. I mean, just look at poor slow start.

The impression I get is that, in some cases it's actually the other way around: the manga isn't selling too well, or it's doing okay but the publisher thinks it could do better, so they help form a production committee and produce an anime in the hope that the manga sales will increase.

Keijo is more of an exception than the rule though. It's rather rare for manga to be cancelled quickly at least in part due to poor anime sales; and if the author is to be believed, the cancellation was decided even before the anime sales were out. Also, to my knowledge, it's rather rare for manga/LNs to not have boosts after the anime airs: most tend to get at least a modest boost, and even when the anime flops, the source material still tends to end up selling more.
It came later than the other shows on amazon and will be released later too.
