but zero two is worried about hiro?
looking at the rain scene, she calmed down because she thought about hiro.
opinions?
Darling in the franxx
Of course she is worried about him.
She even gave him a way out by asking him if he still wanted to pilot with her (which isn't in her interest unless she cared about him).
I also think that she is putting up appearances, her "the weak should fear the strong" ideology most likely comes from her past, she have seen many of her partner die because of her and she is using that ideology to minimize the psychologic damage (guilt) she have. She also tries to appears as someone who doesn't care about others when she literally latched onto the first guy who wasn't afraid by her horns, meaning that she is craving companionship.
With 002, you have to read between the lines in order to understand. If you take everything she says at face value, you aren't understanding that character.
She didn't have to be such a cunt to Ichigo. That was way over the line.
She is deliberately trying to reject the "weaklings" because when they are around her, they get hurt.
I've seen so many threads on Sup Forums about this series. What's it even about?
Post-apocalyptic society fights against underground alien dinosaur robots. Mechas are driven by pairs of female-male pilots who have to be in perfect sync. Pretty much relationship drama from there on out, lots symbolism for sex. Somewhat immature but that the same time somewhat mature. Trigger/A-1 collaboration so people have high expectations.
Do people really believe she was faking it here? Oni is not heartless.
>lots symbolism for sex
Those are mere innuendos. The actual symbolism of the show is with birds and especially with the jian.
002 looks more like a broken person than an evil genius.
I have had a few arguments with people believing she was evil and they all turned out to be shitposters in the end. Not that I'm implying that everyone who hold the same belief is a shitposter but it will definitely be the shitposting material of this week.
02 understands and respects Hiro's wish to pilot with her even if it kills him. She doesn't pretend she's more qualified to make his life decisions for him than he is himself. She's also not hypocritical, that's why "weaklings die" applies both to Hiro and to herself, that's probably why she is so ready to accept hear own death in the first episode - if she's a weakling who cannot win the fight or if she's too weak to pilot solo then she just dies.
I think she's a psycopath.
>I love this darling so cool
>whoops my darling is dead again
>I hope papa gets me a cool new darling!
Some people just dont have capacity for negative emotions but do enjoy company while it lasts.
Ichigo deserved every bit of it.
02 deserved that slap
It's butthurt Ichigofarts. You can safely ignore them.
No. Ichigo should have slapped herself. She's a hypocritical, jealous, bossy cunt who needs to learn her place and stop trying to drag Hiro down to her level. She only sees Hiro as the child he once was and is stunting his development, whereas 002 wants him to grow to his full potential.
Ichigo isn't actually concerned with Hiro's well-being. What she wants to protect is her own little word, her little bird cage. She is the spider that is trying to trap Hiro in her web and stop him from flying.
Reminder:
>Delphinium is a genus of about 300 species of perennial flowering plants in the family Ranunculaceae. All members of theDelphiniumgenus are toxic to humans and livestock. The common name"larkspur"is shared between perennialDelphiniumspecies and annual species of the genusConsolida
>In general, larkspurs denote love, affection, and ardent attachment.
>While pink larkspurs represent fickleness, white ones denote happiness, and purple flowers mean first love.
>These flowers symbolize levity, lightness, pure heart, sweet disposition, desire for laughter, etc.
>According to some other versions, larkspur flowers may mean frivolity, haughtiness, and inconsistent loyalty.
>Almost all parts of the plant have poisonous alkaloids.
>frivolity, haughtiness, and inconsistent loyalty
>all parts of the plant have poisonous alkaloids
Ichigo is a fucking honor student who just cant leave the people alone and fuck off even if they want her to.
Also she's infaithful to her partner and is ruining their synchro.
Ochogo is a bitch, Hiro should slap her.
>Ichigo isn't actually concerned with Hiro's well-being
She is concerned with hiro. If all she wanted to protect was her little world she wouldn't have said that he shouldn't ride with 002 despite knowing that's what he wants.
If all she wanted to protect was her relationship with Hiro she wouldn't have told him something he didn't like to hear but she still did, showing that she is concerned about his well-being.
True friends will tell you things you don't want to hear but that they consider that you should hear because for them, your well-being is more important than your relationship.
Someone really, really needs to slap that cunt Ichigo.
By the way: remember in episode 2 how, after her little hissy fit with 002, Goro patted her on the head (after 002 licked her and called her naive) but Ichigo blew his hand off? Even if you don't, Goro does, and that is why he doesn't touch her again in episode 5. Here's hoping Goro will realise he's too good for that cunt.
>your relationship with them*
It's basically a sex-filled Soap opera.
Let me summarize the whole series so far.
In episode 1 we're introduced to the five sets of couples that make up the main characters. The MC is Hiro, a guy who has a massive cock, but suffers from erectile dysfunction. This causes a break up with his gf, Naomi. His childhood friend, Ichigo, is secretly in love with him, although she's dating Hiro's best friend, Goro. Hiro meets a nympho slut named 02 who calls him her "darling." She's so wild in bed, no man can take having sex with her more than 3 times. The episode ends with Hiro having a drunken One Night Stand with her.
In episode 2, Hiro wakes up not remembering his night with 02, but she tells him he had no problems getting his dick hard. He wants to date her, but she has a bad reputation and his friends don't approve. Ichigo surmises he just wants to cure his ED, and uses this excuse to have sex with Hiro to cure him, but it doesn't work and Hiro ends up going soft halfway through.
Episode 3 involves an NTR plot with Mitsuru, a guy who's always had an inferiority complex to Hiro and is unsatisfied with his current partner, Ikuno, who may or may not be gay for Ichigo herself. Hiro has low self esteem and insists 02 should just fuck Mitsuru when he asks her to. She does, but Mitsuru can't handle it and collapses after a single romp and 02 proclaims that only her "Darling" can satisfy her.
Episode 4 is a romance episode between Hiro and 02 which culminates in them having wild sex where they each declare that the other is a perfect fit for them.
In the latest episode, Hiro and 02 officially become a couple despite protests from his friends who say she's no good. Hiro is revealed to have caught a deadly STD from 02, although he tries to keep it a secret from his friends. Ichigo confronts 02 who had been taunting her this whole time ,and slaps her. The episode ends with 02 and her "darling" reaffirming their love despite the STD.
You don't get it. "Her world" does not refer to Plantation 13, but what she is familiar with, her status quo. She likes to dote on Hiro, so she doesn't want him to grow into his own. She wants him to need her. She is still trapped in the past, thinking of Hiro as a talented little boy. That's what she knows best, and that's what she wants Hiro to be.
Retarded shitpost.
>If all she wanted to protect was her relationship with Hiro
That's all she really wants deep inside, but she is being dishonest about it, put it up a front, trying to be the "good leader".
>Here's hoping Goro will realise he's too good for that cunt.
>tall
>white
>nice
I cant shake off the feeling that Goro is a swede when watching this show.
He reminds me of a guy called Sven that I know.
And also wears glasses.
Stop it, soon Ichigo will notice him.
>She likes to dote on Hiro, so she doesn't want him to grow into his own.
That doesn't make any sense. If anything he is to her like an older brother figure. The way you worded it, it's like Ichigo is the "older sister" but it's not considering hiro's flashback and how he was the alpha (leader) of their groupe since they were children
>She is still trapped in the past, thinking of Hiro as a talented little boy.
She is not, she decided to accept Hiro's decision to ride with 002 despite her suspicions about the latter. That's not what being trapped into the past means and that's definitely not the attitude of someone trying to mainatin the status quo.
>That's all she really wants deep inside
I sincerely doubt that. Someone trying to maintain and only maintain their relationship with another person wouldn't say things that would endanger said relationship, like telling him to give up on his only chance to pilot despite that person wanting to pilot enough to throw his/her life away.
Not until he makes her.
Women hate soft guys
(You)
>That doesn't make any sense.
Are you even watching this anime or are you too focused on the subs to notice anything that happens on screen. Rewatch the scene where Hiro and Ichigo go downstairs after their little meeting with the team. She is fixing his collar, remarking how sloppy he is about this thing, and waxing nostalgia about the old times.
>mfw Ichigotards not only misunderstand 002, but they also misunderstand a character they supposedly like
>The way you worded it, it's like Ichigo is the "older sister" but it's not considering hiro's flashback and how he was the alpha (leader) of their groupe since they were children
This is besides the point. Boys and girls have separate status hierarchies.
She is also startled that Hiro jerks her hand off, which shows that Hiro did not use to act this way before, and allowed her to dote on him in the past. The fact that Ichigo dotes on Hiro is also remarked upon several times by the other characters, but she is always brushing it off with an insincere "I am the leader and I'm just trying to do what's best for the team" spiel.
>He disagreed with me he must be an Xfag
Nice baseless assumption there user. People can disagree with you because they have a problem with your argument and because they want to defend a character/show.
>She is fixing his collar, remarking how sloppy he is about this thing, and waxing nostalgia about the old times.
That shows that they are close, yes, but still not enough prove that she wants to dote on him. Fixing a collar is something anyone close to you can do, a friend, a parent, a sibling etc
We cannot interpret that as her wanting to dote on him when we have flashbacks that shows that Hiro was the "older" figure to all the children and how they treat him.
It isn't besides the point, doting is word used to describe an older person love towards a younger one, like a parent towards their child
>Boys and girls have separate status hierarchies.
Ho can you affirm that?
>She is also startled that Hiro jerks her hand off, which shows that Hiro did not use to act this way before, and allowed her to dote on him in the past.
Considering their relationship and the drama surrounding ichigo her being startled could also be interpreted as her thinking that she is being rejected by Hiro.
People should realize that 02 and Hiro are both warped people. They also provided something missing for them for a long time to each other. Which makes a solid relationship here.
02 cares Hiro for sure, but she also has her own motivations like using him to escape from the plantation.
Hiro is attracted by 02, but his main focus is always to ride Strelitzia instead of staying with 02.
I look forward to see they develop real romance after the 3rd ride.
>doesn't want him to grow into his own
She looked quite happy to see him arriving with strelizia in ep 4.
She'll drop Hiro like a sack of bricks if he's weak enough to die, but she cares about him because he's unique enough to ride with her and care about her. I don't think it's hard to understand her at this early point in their relationship when she's basically explicitly stated all of the above at several points.
>Also she's infaithful to her partner and is ruining their synchro.
This doesn't even make sense, what the fuck is partner faithfullness is this show? We haven't heard anything at all that says you can't pilot with others, and that it ruins your compatability score
Doting is a word used to describe a person of a higher status taking care of one of a lower status. It's not the age difference that is relevant here. Like I said, in real life, girls and boys form separate status hierarchies, and boys and girls don't interact with each other as they interact within their own hierarchies.
Also, in the story, Ichigo is the team leader, so she has higher status then him (at least so far).
> Fixing a collar is something anyone close to you can do
No. The act is clearly reminiscent of a wife fixing her husband's tie or a mother fixing her son's scruffy clothes. Friends don't randomly fix each others' clothes.
That quickly faded away when 002/Strelizia smiled back at her. Also, she is happy that he is regaining his status as the pilot prodigy, not that he is growing into his own. Those are separate things.
>(guilt)
>>(guilt)
Why the hell would 02 be responsible for anything that happend to her previous partners? It's so obvious that the gobberment is forcing her to fight because of the dino threat. Do you actually think she takes pleasure out of killing everyone around her?
The reason why she acts so indifferent now is only because she stopped feeling anything about her pilots just as a means for selfpreservation. Would you still be caring after 100 dead partners?
This. She tried her best to be a cute girlfriend with the darling she has. Meanwhile, she is able to embrace the fact if her darling will die someday. I assume she suffered from partner's death for millions of times, there must be someone she likes in some degree. However, if the one is not able to go through the 3rd ride, there is nothing more she can do.
>Thread immediately gets better at night again
>Doting is a word used to describe a person of a higher status taking care of one of a lower status.
All the more reason that she couldn't have doted on him in the past considering that prior to what happened to naomi, the children considered him their leader.
>Also, in the story, Ichigo is the team leader, so she has higher status then him (at least so far).
Offically yes, ichigo is the squad leader and was chosen as such by the higher-ups. But she wasn't chosen by the children, the one chosen by them was hiro. I believe that for them Ichigo being the leader is just something administrative and that the one they recognize as their leader is Hiro.
>Friends don't randomly fix each others' clothes.
Close friends will.
>the children considered him their leader.
The leader among boys. Where there is a king, there is also a queen. The queen always has higher status in the relationship.
>she wasn't chosen by the children
Doesn't matter. The children are quite accepting of her position as leader and even praise her when she does a good job of it (at least on the surface).
>Close friends will.
Are you really going to claim that there is no romantic tension between Hiro and Ichigo (at least on Ichigo's side)? Really?
You're clutching at straws at this point.
>Why the hell would 02 be responsible for anything that happend to her previous partners? It's so obvious that the gobberment is forcing her to fight because of the dino threat
Of course user, but still, they wouldn't have died if they didn't ride with her and that may be what she is thinking. A lot of people do this kind of reasoning. For example a slow runner being matched with a fast runner at PE exam may feel guilty for the fast runner unusually low score despite the teacher being responsible for the pairing.
>she stopped feeling anything about her pilots just as a means for selfpreservation
Yes that was my point.
It's actually because the weekend is over, and all the retards are back in school. It's noon here.
>Where there is a king, there is also a queen.
No, not necessaraly, also the queen doesn't always hold the same power as her king and vice versa. The faculty they were raised in didn't seem to separate boys from girls as they were all playing together and they all grouped around Hiro for the namegiving. Ichigo was also among these childrens, which shows that whatever hierarchical position she may have hold/still hold, it was/is still inferior to Hiro's.
>at least on the surface
Yes that was what I was trying to say in my previous post. They are fine with her being chosen as the leader but in their hearts it was still Hiro(or at least "old hiro").
>Are you really going to claim that there is no romantic tension between Hiro and Ichigo (at least on Ichigo's side)? Really?
i'm not you said that the act was reminiscient of a husband/wife or a mother/son and I told you that it wasn't limited to these kind of relationships. It cannot be reminiscient of a wife fixing her husband collars because hiro doesn't have these kind of feelings towards ichigo and it cannot be reminiscient of a mother/son because Hiro is the older figure.
Therefore it looked more like close friends than the relationships you have mentionned. I'm not denying any feelings Ichigo might have, someone can still love their close friend.
I am really wondering who is the guy in this scene.
002 was still wearing intern's uniform here, so he must not be Hiro
Probably her first darling and the first partner that died riding with her. That probably was what broken her, why she started hating herself and why she is such a an edgelord.
You don't seem to have much experience with children.
Boys and girls will separate of their own accord. Boys play with boys, and girls play with girls, with the occasional incursion of one into the other's "domain". Mixed play is not the norm. And in mixed play, the girls have higher status than the boys (boys will defer to the girls even as children).
>Yes that was what I was trying to say in my previous post.
All the ressentiment directed at him in the previous episodes (chiefly by Mitsuru, but also Zorome and Miku) shows otherwise.
> hiro doesn't have these kind of feelings towards ichigo
This is irrelevant.
It's Hiro. The scene happens in the future.
>Mixed play is not the norm
Being brought up in a military faculty to serve as child soldiers defending your country is also not the norm. What you have experienced in your childhood cannot be applied in this anime because these children circumstances are different from the circumstances of children in a "normal" country.
>And in mixed play, the girls have higher status than the boys
From what I remember young boys don't care about girls and will even mock them for being girls. But that's irrelevant because the show explicitely showed us that Hiro was the supreme leader of the children.
>All the ressentiment directed at him in the previous episodes (chiefly by Mitsuru, but also Zorome and Miku) shows otherwise.
Misturu explicitely said that he admired "old hiro" and that the reason he doesn't like the new one is because he isn't living up to his expectations. Zorome has also praised old hiro and even accepted to shake current hiro's hand after he helped them against the worm, which shows that he just didn't like an incompetent hiro. Miku has been pretty neutral so far, she likes to banter and gossip so I wouldn't take at fave value everything she is saying.
>This is irrelevant.
It isn't because it shows that their situation is closer to close friends than husband/wife or mother/son.
002 is a top-class pilot at the moment.
How would she wear the intern's uniform in the future?
They took over a Plantation and started their own rebellion/mercernery group.
02 changed into the uniform to match Darling's.
that isn't a problem when she decided to live in 13th plantation
>Being brought up in a military faculty to serve as child soldiers defending your country is also not the norm.
That doesn't mean they were kept in chains. They clearly had toys and rooms for play available, as we see from the flashback in episode 3.
>From what I remember young boys don't care about girls and will even mock them for being girls
You remember wrong. Young boys usually get stressed out from playing with girls because girls demand all sorts of extra rules from them that other boys do not. They do care about girls because they do intermittently explore the girls' "territory". They're curious. Similarly the girls avoid, in general, playing with boys because the boys are too rough, but will still occasionally venture into the boys' group and ask to be included in play.
>It isn't because it shows that their situation is closer to close friends than husband/wife or mother/son.
This is only the overt situation, because Ichigo's feelings are unrequited. I never said Ichigo's relationship with Hiro is that of a wife to her husband or a mother's to her son. I said that she _desires_ that sort of relationship, and acts upon it.
It's not an intern's uniform. It's the standard uniform. Since she will be integrated into the Plantation 13 unit, she will be given a standard uniform like the other members of the squad.
Zero Two is so DEEP.
>They clearly had toys and rooms for play available
That still doesn't make their situations comparable to normal children. They most likely had test performed on them, were subject to great amounts of propaganda, didn't have parents (biggest factor here) and received military training meaning that they were taught the military view of life and death.
That is in no way comparable to normal children. The toys are there vent some of the stress but that's it.
>You remember wrong.
No I'm not, that's what I lived and it brings up another point about you user. You view your own experiences as the norm among anyone. You didn't consider that we might not live in the same kind of society, that we might not have shared the same education, you directly assumed that what you have gone through was also what I have gone through and that i must have remembered wrong.
From my own experience boys do not care about girls and even reject them because they don't share the same interests as them and are seen as bitchy. That is until the boys grow enough to be able to get horny.
>I never said Ichigo's relationship with Hiro is that of a wife to her husband or a mother's to her son.
And I never said that you said that, I said that you said that it was remiscient and that their situation was CLOSER (as in it looks more like X than Y) to close firends
Quite changing my words already you also did that when you said that I claimed that there was no romantic tension on ichigo's side there
02fags on damage control is real. I can't wait to to see 02, wh is a freaking sociopath, causse the death pf Hieo iro to be killed. Ichigo will be right when that happens.
>That still doesn't make their situations comparable to normal children.
Of course it does.
>That is in no way comparable to normal children.
This is nonsense. They're human children brought up in unusual circumstances, not aliens from outer space. The difference is of degree, not of kind. Imagine children brought up in very strict homes, or in highly regulated orphanages.
>You view your own experiences as the norm among anyone.
I'm not talking about my experiences (not as a kid anyway; if anything I'm saying is based on personal experience, it's the experience of taking care of children as an adult), but about well established child psychology research.
>And I never said that you said that,
You tried to refute my point about Ichigo trying to act towards Hiro in that manner by saying that, in essence, she can't be because Hiro does not reciprocate her feelings. Stop circling around the issue like a weasel.
Don't reply to me again if you don't plan to say anything relevant.
I hope you're genuine and not shitposting, because that won't happen and Ichigotard rage is always delicious.
Are you guys too dumb to realize that she pushes people away because they die or get hurt whenever they work with her? Zero Two is so happy to work with hiro because he’s willing to do what everyone else is scared of and do it for her.
>Are you guys too dumb
Yes, yes they are.
and with spiders, specially the Jorogumo
Jorōgumo is a legendary creature in Japanese folklore. A Jorōgumo is a spider which can change its appearance into that of a beautiful woman. She seeks men to seduce, whom she then binds in her silk and devours.
Don't forget that Ichigo was rude as fuck throughout that conversation, and even before it, like in the scene where she is showing 002 her room. 002 never instigated any of this. Even in episode 2 when they first interact, 002 simply ignores Ichigo before Ichigo calls out to her and tells her, in very blunt terms, to stay away from Hiro.
This is all on Ichigo. Retaliating against her shit is fair game. The fact that 002 didn't slap her back goes to show just how much more in control she is than Ichigo.
Probably because 002 can read her like an open book. When she licked her in episode 2 she called her "sweet" (as in innocent and naive) but also said that she doesn't hate that about Ichigo, so 002 is a lot more open to getting along with Ichigo than Ichigo is with her.
And finally, in episode 5, Ichigo only really snapped after 002 correctly pointed out that Ichigo has no business interfering between her and Hiro and yet does it anyway in a dishonest way by trying to use Hiro's well-being as a shield against criticism, all the while proving that she doesn't understand Hiro at all.
Ichigo is the Jorogumo.
The web is the bird cage, and the silk cocoon is the comfortable life there.
The Jian bird symbolises Hiro's 'synergetic' relationship with 002, while the spider trapping a butterfly (who will no longer be able to fly) symbolises Ichigo's toxic relationship with Hiro.
>Ichigo's toxic relationship with Hiro.
>The Jian bird symbolises Hiro's 'synergetic' relationship with 002
It goes beyond that, not only is it symbolized by the Franxx system as a whole but also by the plantations with "kissing" being vital to them.
>people are still spider posting
When will you faggots learn.
>Pegging
>NTR
>STD
>Flower
>Spider
>Blue oni
What will we get in the next episode?
People used to, misguidedly, claim that the spider and the butterfly in the bathroom scene is a symbol to Hiro's relationship with 02, when it is in fact about his relationship with Ichigo.
why is the euthanasia debate the only philosophical conflict writers can ever think of
>Ichigo has no business interfering between her and Hiro
I agree that Ichigo should not attempt to make Hiro's decisions for him or to tell him to his face that she won't bother him any longer about piloting with 02 only to then approach 02 herself behind his back. I also think that jealousy is at least as strong a motivator for her as legitimate concern.
That being said, I don't think it's fair to begrudge her trying to do something entirely, even if she weren't in love Hiro is still her childhood friend. The concern for one's friend possibly being killed is legitimate and you can't blame her for trying to do something about it. Goro seems to feel the same way and also dislikes 02/Strelizia, though he also has more concrete information to go on. In Ichigo's case the problem is more about how she goes about trying to do something, which I suspect is due to her compounding jealousy and not just care and worry for her friend. The jealousy makes her confrontational in regards to 02 and instead of trying to understand Hiro's point of view or the choices he makes (like Goro does) she tries to interfere in order to make the situation into what she wants it to be rather than supporting Hiro as one of his best friends.
Ichigo dragged her out of bed in the middle if the night, called her a subhuman and slapped her. I'd be mad too.
>Ichigo has no business interfering between her and Hiro
Human beings tend to be concerned about each other's lives. That may be annoying, but it's not abuse or entitlement.
Ichigo was fine with Naomi, and later with Hiro leaving the plantation. Only now that his life is at stake is she meddling.
02's beautiful crying face
Strelizia!
>I think she's a psycopath.
>Some people just dont have capacity for negative emotions but do enjoy company while it lasts.
There is no chance they wrote their main girl this way.
but she had a tragic backstory, that makes it okay! /s
>an official picture said that Hiro was her "new darling"
Speculation is always part of anime original threads, I wouldn't read too much into it.
Only two more days, Darlingbros.
She had good reason too. And I'm saying that as a Zero Two fan.
Who designs a robot with a big butt?
An old perverted dr. wily looking guy who likes grabbing butts.
That’s so cliche
More proof that Ichigo is the Jorougumo, and the web is the bird cage.
Stop lying.
Ichigo is concerned with Hiro for her sake. She wants her pet.
Forgive him, he is retarded. Copilots actually being in a romantic relationship isn’t the most common in this show. Like how Goro and Ichigo are friends but don’t seem to be into each other and how Ikuno and Mitsuru definitely aren’t into each other.
>and the web is the bird cage.
>02 trying to run away from it together with Hiro
Hmm
>n-no it’s just a red herring Onibros r-right?
>i-it’s not a red herring after all, it’s just referring to Ichigo!
Goro is definitely into Ichigo. You're both dense as fuck.
Anyone who thought the spider scene in the bathroom was about 002 is retarded.
Anyone who thought the spider scene wasn’t about 02 is retarded. See, I can do it too.
>alien dinosaur robots
It’s never implied they are alien. In fact my theory is that they are reminiscent of the WEAPONs of FFVII, they appear as some kind of guardians when humanity crosses certain lines that endanger the planet.
I’m certain humans will be revealed to be the real problem, not the dinos.
I brought this up weeks ago.
>le monsters are the real humans clichè
