That has nothing to do with Franxx though. Since it's an anime original that can easily conclude it's run without ever having an sequel regardless of how it sells. Gurren Lagann is a show that comes to mind that sold well yet despite having the potential to do a sequel never got an follow-up because the story was complete on what it wanted to tell.
Those tend to be more than the exception than the rule, though, especially when you consider that anime originals are a minority of shows to begin with. That, and that most good-selling originals do tend to end up having some form of continuation later on.
