Maybe there's no crime because they patrol the streets.

You know police in America patrol too.

>almost no crime
kek you mean almost no """"""""reported"""""""" crime

Maybe we can't see any crime because he's constantly fucking around with lolis

But America is one of the highest crime rate in the world, unless you break America by state.

t. Floridafag

Chikans are living the dream

American cops also patrol by sitting in fast food parking lots

Maybe we see no crime because Saito is the one committing the crimes if you catch my griffith

>Japan has same crime rate as US
>Japan's murder rate is 1000x more than what it actually reports

k e k

Note: Japan's murder rate would have to increase 1000% to get to same rate as American murders

There are crimes other than murder. I don't know if this is new information to you or not

Japan's rape rate would have to increase 2700% to even come close to US's rape rate.

As for gun crimes, Japan would need to increase their gun crime rate by 15000% to equal to US's crime rate.

Japan's prison population would have to increase by 1300% to match US's rate.

As for car thefts, Japan would have to increase their car theft rate by 2000% to equate to US. (Car ownership rate per 1000 is similar, ~600 v 800)

As for youth murder rate, Japan's children need to be 3000% more murderous than American children.

These are more or less hard statistics that can't just be explained away with "Japan hides stuff" shit.

The statistics are fairly similar to Taiwan and other countries. Most of East/SEA countries are fairly safe compared to US. One would imagine SEA would be similar to South America, but its sorta opposite. SEA isn't as safe as Japan, but its still safer than US.

There's nothing significant and irrelevant happening in SEA

>Most of East/SEA countries are fairly safe compared to US

TAIWAN AND SINGAPORE ARE EXCEPTIONS JESUS CHRIST

Second largest drug trade capital of the world.
Huge prostitution chains
Paramilitary organized gangs
etc

SEA is fairly similar to South America, except they're bit more business oriented rather than crime oriented

I rarely hear it on the news, sometimes just about China wanting some stupid islets but that's it.

Is it really bad there? Are you from SEA?

>SINGAPORE
Pickpocketers and minor crimes are common and I've been there many times, got pickpocketed twice on my backpack

>Are you from SEA?
No

>Is it really bad there?
SEA is the "bad place" of Asia, where criminals go for hangout. But even that doesn't compare to US's crime rates. However SEA has bit of a "look the otherway" due to its crime center of the Asia for most things non-violent.

Why are you comparing to the US? Saying Japan's actual numbers are different from reported isn't the same as saying it's a third world country.

Man you just blew him the fuck out. Well done.

I had no idea that was there, too.

Like you would know right?

Japan doesn't have a nigger and spic problem. That'll change in the future if the jews in the UN get them to open their borders

Detective Conan was right all along, huh?

Even if there isn't crime its still good for them to be out in public and have a connection with the locals.

Japanese are raised in such a way that violent crimes are usually tame, and other minor crimes are just seen as taboo

Even the yakuza rarely kill each other, and even more rarely use a gun. The police usually ignore them fighting unless someone gets killed, so they go by that

user, I think you completely failed to grasp what he was getting at and are coming across as a bit obsessed with the US for no reason whatsoever. He was implying that there is a not-insignificant amount of crime in Japan that goes unreported, not making comparisons between Japan and any other country. What you are saying and what he is saying are not mutually exclusive.

Not-insignificant amount of crime goes unreported in US too. You know this right? I'm highlighting the fact that EVEN if America's record is perfect, Japan would need not just a "not-insignificant" amount of unreported crimes, but rather a earth shattering, mind blowing, world changing, apocalyptic event scenario level of change. 1000%+ change in report across most crime level is VERY VERY VERY significant.

And what this user "imply" mean jackshit since hiding crime isn't exclusive to one country, especially when you see what happen in any ghetto.

I love how I can actually tell this is a legit Japanese poster by his anti american fervor and "as for x" sentence structure.

Japan have street vending machines in open places, Any other country and that shit is getting smashed to pieces.

police as civil servants rather than just crime stoppers is given more emphasis in Japan. they are there to serve, not just protect. you need help with something reasonable, you can just ask a cop

There is very little street crime and violent crime in general, and, most contrasting to the US, little or no drug related crime.
On the other hand, organized crime (yakuza) is much more entrenched in society and they can do their underworld business with relative ease compared to other first world countries. Extortion, fraud, human trafficking, etc. are likely much more present in Japan than in Western countries.
There's also an issue with sexual assault, not necessarily because there's more of it there than elsewhere, but because victims don't report it to the police out of a desire not to attract attention and "shame the famiry."
There's some pretty fucked up stuff there when you think about it. But overall they are to be commended for having safe streets pretty much everywhere in the country, at all times of the day.

japanese society expert thread wooooooohooooooooooooo

There seem to be a LOT of surplus employees in Japan. Like, you will go into an empty shop and see 5 staff standing around doing nothing, multiple people cleaning the same area, etc. It's no surprise that they have pointless policemen, working in most koban must be so fucking comfy and easy. I can't imagine many them have more to deal with than lost property and drunks or whatever the fuck quiet little suburbs would need to report to the police. But I guess maybe a ubiquitous police force is helpful in keeping crime rates low to begin with.

What would be considered the Brazil, Costa Rica and Argentina of the SEA/East?

>Extortion, fraud, human trafficking, etc. are likely much more present in Japan than in Western countries.
all those shit apply to Murica.

Japan is way behind the US when it comes to dealing with organized crime. They don't even have a fucking witness protection program. Think about that.

>Extortion, fraud, human trafficking, etc. are likely much more present in Japan than in Western countries.

Japan is no utopia but your definitely crazy as fuck if you actually believe this lmao.

Why wouldn't they? A highly visible police force keeps the scum away. Don't think that Japan is such a nice place that there aren't a few dickheads that would be happy to take advantage of a lack of cops.

>implying the US' witness "protection" program does anything

Love how these threads always divulge into anti-American shit posting with outright lies and misinformation

Why are people from other countries such sad and insecure individuals that they dedicate so much of there free time talking shit about a country that creates so much of what they consume? And on website created by an American no less

Other than because its cultural condition, one thing to add is that because it's highly walkable, including the public services that includes police too

This is pretty interesting to read, especially for burgers who are heavily depended on cars
urbankchoze.blogspot.co.id/2016/04/police-box-policing-walkable-city.html

dependant*, my mistake

While you're probably right in general, I do want to point out that the show takes place in Ueno, a major downtown district of Tokyo. The Koban that Saito is stationed at is actually a fairly well known one at the entrance of Ueno park.

>lmao
Surely you see the logic in realizing that people who snitch on mobsters are at risk of retaliation.

I love how walkable Tokyo is. You can take the train anywhere and you can't walk for 5 minutes without seeing a restaurant, vending machine and/or convenience store. Made me really frustrated at my city where you have to use your car for absolutely everything.

Clearly Japan needs more diversity, it's way too safe and making other countries feel bad.

I would imagine growing up learning about this big fucking behemoth from across the waters that controls pretty much the whole world and is doing a pretty terrible job of it can ingrain you with an innate sense of disdain for that country for the rest of your life.

Didn't Sup Forums cross over with Sup Forums for April Fools and people found out just how much of Sup Forums were not in NA?

You mean stolen from Japanese creators.

No crime? Did you forget about her? Did you forget how those men barely served any time? Did you forget when one them got out of prison he bragged about it? Did you forget about the comfort women who were raped by Japanese soldiers in WWII? Don't act so naive.

Yeah I was just talking in general. I haven't seen the show, no doubt Ueno and other busy areas make good use of their policemen.

why is japan a safe country?

...

Because of porn.

>a country that creates so much of what they consume?
I mean if my country were forcefed American media I’d hate it too.

>they dedicate so much of there free time
>there
Murrica!

One thing the younger generations really do right. Don't really care if it's mainly because of laziness caused by technological progress but I really like how the younger generations much prefer to live in cities or just plain country side, no inbetween suburbs

It's got zero immigration and is an island?

Japanese society is so strongly organized around the concept of public shame that people are raised thinking that rulebreaking is worse than death?

have you never been to a highway rest stop or a bus station?

What interests me more is that a regular cop in Japan actually carries a gun.

This isn't undercover detective or some highspeed unit or anything, just yo average glorified mall cop

Is the school bullying in Japan as bad as my edgy seinen mangos are telling me? Is it all hushed up?

>brings up a single case to counter “almost no crime”
>brings up something that happened over half a century ago

im surprised Italy's killings by police is so low.

The thing that bothered me the most wasn't even the retarded legal system that allowed them to all go free after a few years.
It was the fact that many people other than the 4 main perpetrators knew where she was, being raped and tortured, and no one did anything to help. According to the perpetrators over a hundred people knew she was being held there. Including the parents of one them.
Even if most of those people were criminals, it's unbelievable that they lacked the most basic humanity to anonymously tip off the police or something. I could be wrong but this seems to point to Japanese culture encouraging silence in the face of wrongdoing. Not that culture is any excuse for individual wrongdoing. I hope everyone who did nothing to help her suffers in the next life.

Not him, but the vending machines around my state are usually encased in several layers of armor with little cut-outs for the button and mouth.

whats the story behind this?

no niggers
no whites
no latinos
no arabs
high IQ

this

Id rather live in SEA than South America tbhh

Police is more likely to make a fool out of you than to fuck your shit up in general.

How about looking up her name on google retard.
I'd advise not to though, unless you wanna feel really bad for a week.

Police outside of America so things besides shooting people

>Hey how come people shoot each other so much in the US?
>Is it maybe because we have g- haha, no way, it's because of all these people I hate so much I wish I could shoot them, they're the problem.
Another case solved by detective burger!

>I could be wrong but this seems to point to Japanese culture encouraging silence in the face of wrongdoing.

"Don't make waves."

In an ideal scenario, it would be "better" for the crime to be committed and never uncovered, than for them to have prevented it but brought shame to the families of all those involved in the incident.

Who's doing the shooting?

Usually, people who own guns I think.

The lack of young people sure must make their jobs easy.

What percentage of legal gun owners are doing the shooting?

And usually it´s the non-whites who do the shooting but oh we just need one white shooter who goes to school and shoots people and gets to the news, "ban the guns!" "white people shoot!" Literally some naggers just killed each other few days ago and zero media coverage, why?

Yes they do, and there's koubans everywhere here, so if you need any help or anything, you just go to the closest kouban.

>WHY AREN'T THERE MORE POC ON THE NEWS
>MUH REPRESENTATION
fuck off SJW

>Implying Americans actually care about people being killed.

So what you're telling me is that not only white people shoot people but black people too and even worse those are not even mediatized.
That was supposed to be an argument to why guns shouldn't be banned? Am I missing something?

Blacks commit a lot of violence to each other, similar to the aboriginal population in Australia. They don't bother whitey but go out in parts of the city and they're just vicious to each other sometimes, especially if you're not used to the abuse and physical violence.

>Am I missing something?

The majority of America's millions of legal gun owners are guilty of no wrong-doing or criminal activity whatsoever. Why would you inflict restrictions and punishments on the majority for the actions of a criminal minority using often illegally obtained firearms?
