How? Don't get me wrong MIA is good but its definitely not AOTY 2017. They pity voted it into the No.1 spot as they thought no one would watch it because of the chibi designs. Its a good show but it should not be that high up.

Made in Abyss is nearly flawless. The only issue was the excessively long recap stuff, but no biggie. Kemono Friends had a subtle depth unlike anything else of that year, and is objectively not a childrens' show, it was slotted into a late-night time slot and was a hit with all ages.

2007, 2012 and 2017 ranking/positions are absolutely disgraceful. I mean, the AOTY of 2007/17 are quite fine but 2012 had objectively much better titles and the rankings are so shit on these years specifically.

2006: Death Note 27th, no idea how it ranked so low below stuff like Sumomomo / Shana
2009: DTB 2nd place, FMA also surprisingly low

I got kinda nostalgic looking that this and it made me realize there are a lot of decent anime Sup Forums never really cared about like Hitohira that newfriends will never ever watch just because it isn't talked about which is kinda sad. It also reminds me series have been in my backlog for over a decade I still need to watch.

Geass R2 came a year after.
K-On! S2 came a year after.
Darker than Black came two years after with an OVA in the first year.

SnK simply lost all the surrounding hype and momentum taking 4! years to make the second season.

No it wasn't. While barakamon is definitely one of the best shows of summer 2014, it just doesn't compare to ping pong. Most likely 2ch has a lot of moe/comfyfags that voted en masse for barakamon.
