Overlord

I'm still enjoying myself, but why are the production values so bad this season? I'm pretty sure even the first season didn't have this many QUALITY moments.

They saving money for the 4 end battles they have to do.

I hope you're right. It feels like it's taken a nosedive in animation quality since the Lizards

>QUALITY
>picks the best quality and animated moment in the episode
Heh.

Because Madhouse is using its budget on money laundering in Antarctica.

I just wanted to post the cutest girl in the new season

chuunibyou?
I mean, that's what I was thinking of during this scene.

Davernoch was wasted potential. Why couldn't Ainz himself have just been a naturally occurring lich in a fantasy world, seeking magic and power and gradually growing from a highwayman to a disguised adventurer to a mob enforcer and then recruiting his own monstrous servants, eventually taking over the Kingdom? Why did it have to be "lol videogames here's your own personal empire have fun"

>Antarctica
Thats looks as QUALITY as overload

>I'm pretty sure even the first season didn't have this many QUALITY moments.
you must have watched the movies. first season had the same level of moments.

because MMO isekai are popular in Japan and Maruyama decided to ride that wave along with the rest whilst also supplying enough differences from the usual bits to stand out from the crowd.

i agree that it would've been better in the manner you suggest, but Overlord isn't nearly as video-gamey as many other titles in the genre and it's mostly utilized as a backdrop for Ainz's encyclopediac knowledge regarding aspects of the Ygg, and, therefore, the world. besides, one of the core aspects of Ainz is that he's both OP and weak. in terms of power-levels he's the epitome of the world (so far), but as a ruler he has a lot to learn and it's a core part of his development in the series. it's also a huge aspect of the humor within the series.

I do like reading what Ainz knows due to the game.

I don't care, I just want her to be my chair

Because that's boring, sounds like some no fun western novel.

man those are some kino milkies

Same. Shalltear is for tender sitting.

I just binged the first season, and while it was exactly what i expected i deeply related to the MC.

Ive played several multiplayer games in my life and the feeling of losing contact with your longtime guild mates and such is quite depressive.

I got even more sucked in since i have been at that exact position of going from being the leader of a fun, activr guild to be the last member standing, it hit really close to home.

Also Albedo is my new fav cum dumpster

Pic related is best cum dumpster

Alfredo is not for cum dumpstering

She's not good for anything

I would kill for a faithful adaption in so-bin's style, damn

>Albedo gets THREE artworks in the ED
It's not fair. Where's my HD Laykus by so-bin?

She will never look at you like a cute innocent puppy. ;_;

it's pretty funny, too, because she barely gets any screentime this season

Renner is for anal!

I really liked the bathing side story.

Vol. 8 was comfy

I like dat. I would really like to read that. That's what is retarded about the market/ shounen market. Fictions with villains as MCs/ mcs with human flaws has a really hard time getting accepted/ approved, if ever. Gen Y demograph can't mouth anything other than holier than thou- hath never committed a crime in life- saint virgin cherry MCs.

>but why are the production values so bad this season?

Did you miss the entirely CGI battle between momon and like 2 goblins the the first season? Did you miss the CGI skeletal dragon? Or what about the WORDSWORDSWORDSWORDS 5fps battle between Shalltear and Ainz?

I swear, fanboys put the first season on such a high pedestal, it makes me doubt people even watched it.

Because then it would be a purely edgy story due to him being a pure natural lich instead of a comedy about an average guy stuck trying to manage an empire.

You are a retarded ESL who has no idea what he's talking about. Fucking Ainz himself is an MC with flaws, and there are tons of successful series featuring flawed MCs. Watch more anime or spend your time practicing your English instead of posting here.

My favorite thing about Overlord is Ainz relations to the NPC's and the influence of the other players. It's very relatable, feeling abandoned after losing contact with people online over a long period of time.

Same. I still reminisce about the old Minecraft servers I played on over half a decade ago

My online friend group split in half because one friend thought another didn't talk to them much because they didn't like them, when they were really just shy. Some of them believed the dumb motherfucker for some reason and roughly the same number used their fucking brains and realized they was being a paranoid idiot. I don't know how I lost so many friends to this elementary school drama, but they sure did decide my shy, quiet friend was a hateful prick for no good reason. That was 4 years ago. I'm still mad. People are idiots.

I kind of relate to Ainz too, except more in the way he is portrayed by his subordinates as the all knowing leader figure when really he's a noob at leadership. (whotf thought it's a good idea to hand a leadership job to a fresh graduate anyway, i reckon it's probably because i graduated from a decent gradschool but still).
Especially when Demiurge misunderstood Ainz about that whole world conquest thing since something similar happened to me, but hey at least things worked out.

user confirmed for taking over the world

This episode was seriously awful but I don't remember Overlord ever looking that decent. When the two guys chase Sebas though and then they fight the assassins, that whole segment was vomit inducing, especially the city backgrounds that looked like wallpaper.

I relate to Ainz because I'm also a skeletal monster with red pinpoints of light burning in my empty sockets, but that's just me.

>Climb's 1-frame-attack on the assassin
Just awful

All I ever really wanted out of the Overlord anime after season 1 was for it to make it to volume 8 for the Nazarick half, but we absolutely aren't getting a third season, since the second is utterly bombing, doubtlessly because its source material has fuck-all to do with the characters anime-only fans got into it for.

it's actually doing decent in Japan and is a tremendous success in China

i'd rather Madhouse not be rewarded for their rather lackluster efforts this season, though

I thought China was so terrified of skellingtons that their media isn't allowed to depict them?

Isn't it normal that all the LN adaption shows get really poor budgets?

moemonga is an exception

Yeah Violet Evergarden has a minuscule budget

If season 3 ever comes out, which studio would you prefer if given the chance?

Only the bad ones. Good stuff like SAO gets royal treatment.

Albedo is such a dumb and ugly whore

albedo didn't betray ainz

At least she's not flat as a chair.
6

Neither did Shalltear

albedo isn't a cute little vampire girl though

Shut up, lamprey.

Both Albedo and Shalltear kind of blow, honestly. They each have their moments, but they're irritating more often than not. Ainz could do much better than either of them.

It's really weird. You would think that an adaption would be deserving of a bigger budget, because an audience already exists. In my opinion, they shouldn't do anime adaptions if the budgets are going to be small. It just ends up being poor.

True. Lupus & Aura are the best.

Urine-eyes!

she looks like a crazy bitch in Ed tho

>2nd season is bombing
>actually listens to Sup Forums

You buying into the meme is 100% of the reason why shows that could do better don't. Thank god most of the world doesn't browse Sup Forums.

It would be too many normalfags and as we've seen too many people are gullible and easily influenced by what they see on the net.

at least Sebas' hands look normal sized this time

It's amazing that the strongest person in the Overlord universe gets reduced to tears and sat on.

In the last thread, people were complaining about how boring they find it because there is no power struggle to overcome.

That's why I like Overlord; it's refreshing. shounen-style underdog hero's tale is stale as fuck. This is more about politics, strategy, and slowly moving into the unknown. We know that all the characters *so far* provide no threat to Ainz and Nazarick, but because the story is still going, we don't know what other enemies there are, AND we do know that some creatures out there can still pose a risk, like the bichroma rubik's cube girl from Slane Theocracy, and then there's the Seraph Empyrean as mentioned by Ainz:

overlordmaruyama.wikia.com/wiki/Seraph_Empyrean

>While none have been encountered so far, Seraph Empyrean is said by Ainz himself that he would have to fight it at full strength in order to defeat it.

On top of that, with Ainz's worries about his minions betraying him eventually, Sebas' actions, and what the Slane Theocracy hasn't yet revealed, there's still plenty that could happen.

>In the last thread, people were complaining about how boring they find it because there is no power struggle to overcome.
It's the laziest criticism of Overlord, honestly. There's no power level struggle so people pretend that there's no struggle at all even though every volume Ainz is struggling with leadership and trying not to be retarded.

I wonder if the death of Stronoff will cause Sebas Tian to betray Ainz.

Seeing as Sebas Tian was created by Touch Me, who has an element of good to him, he might see slaying Stronoff as wrong

...

You have to keep in mind he preys to Ainz and the like, other than demiurge he's the most "loyal". If we ignore Albedo's twisted loyalty that is.

If anything he's likely to respect him like Ainz does, but nothing more.

Wait, yeah. How did it get past the filter? Does it only apply to movies or something?

Warlock in the magus world

Because that's a tired story that's been told before, and is boring.

I think you have a misunderstanding of Sebas's personality if you think that would occur. Pic related sums up a great deal of his moral character well, I think.

You have to keep in mind that Sebas would only ever betray Ainz if TM came back and told him to. Otherwise he considers Ainz to be number one in all things.

Also, it's been 3 volumes since Gazef was killed and it hasn't even been mentioned by him, he's happily training Tsuare along in the side-story and Ainz even lets them go on dates.

I'm only following the anime desu. I learn everything else from reading the Overlord wiki.

Careful. That wiki can be a bit bad in regards to information. There's an unfortunate amount of headcanon fags on there

No npc will betray Ainz without the use of a WCI. They might object to some decisions, dislike some attitudes and act on their beliefs, like Pestonya and Nigredo did. They might also get detention time for it. But ultimately they are still loyal and respect Ainz. This is valid for everyone but the unknown npcs on the 8th floor, since we barely know about them and their settings.

>Pestonya and Nigredo did.
Did we ever get more information on that? It was mentioned maybe twice to have happened off screen, but we get very little in terms of details.

Is that actually good?

>strongest person in the Overlord universe...
thats Rubedo my friend.

damn your fonts look nice

Not him, but screencap your fonts?
