Why do you hate this anime Sup Forums? The pacing gets bad, in typical Rumiko fashion, but isn't it unfair to say the whole concept is garbage?
With a competent editor, I think it could have been one of the best of all time. Without an editor, it remains a flawed favorite.
Lucas Wilson
Why do you bother asking that here? Everything is either an untouchable masterpiece or the worst shit ever made, there's never room for middle ground. I've watched the whole show a few times.
Jordan Bell
I like the manga more.
Liam Morales
why?
William Green
shoujo shit
Alexander Carter
I started reading it when I was 13-14. Just recently checked out the first 10ish episodes of the anime and I don't like how it toned down the violence and the nudity. And something about Inuyashas VA irks me.
Carter Young
thanks for responding, ill check out the manga first since I have been wanting to watch this series for a long time.
Aaron Cox
I'll believe you if you go through with a complete recut and post it on nyaa
Ryder Edwards
It is 20 volumes too long. Overstayed its welcome, and Takahashi made it a habit of grow a character and then kill it, repeat ad nauseam.
Brody Hughes
Actually a good point... But what's your opinion?
Nicholas Hall
No filler. Kikyo is a lot better. Nudity exists. More violent.
Adam Jones
Still definitely worth watching the show. The animation is pretty good, and the soundtrack is top tier; builds a great atmosphere.
Christopher Lopez
It's not just the pacing, that was normal back then, the problem is that the plot also moved backwards from time to time.
Blake Rodriguez
Watching through the whole thing rn. Currently on episode 25. It was my first anime EVER growing up and it's great so far. Later the pacing turns to shit tho so hopefully it's not too bad that I stop watching.
Nathan Brooks
It was my gateway into the industry so it'll always have a special place in my heart. An extremely entertaining shounen written by Rumiko Takahashi so it managed to be uniquely shoujo as well. Didn't shy away from some violent imagery which was great. Watching it without the filler definitely makes it better/easier to get through on a rewatch. I've watched the second movie probably close to a hundred times. The OPs and EDs and entire OST are all absolutely amazing, If anything about the series has stuck with me to this day it is the music. I still listen to some of the songs occasionally. I have watched the 2 movie probably hundreds of times. I got sex from a roommate after impressing her by rocking ANGLEUS on DDR Supernova 2. Watching the English dub of the Final act in a single day and dropping a bunch of magic mushrooms was a deeply emotional experience for me. Those are all my thoughts about the show.
Wyatt Peterson
Of course it had an editor you retard. They just keep ok-ing it as long as it sells
Henry Harris
Okay, but is this isekai?
Carson Hill
No, time travel.
James Reyes
the editor is the one who tells the author to keep going even when the author wants to end the story
Ethan Gray
I always forget Inuyasha Japan literally had all of this magic bullshit going on in the "past".
Logan Garcia
The past was literally like that though.
Aaron Miller
I always thought the final battle against Naraku was going to end with the extinction of Demons, and magic by association which is why Modern Japan is normal. Though I guess Inuyasha and Miroku's services explain lack of demons.
Eli Torres
>193 episodes how do you even
Nathaniel Powell
How many times Naraku used the fucking swarm thing or some other asspull to escape again? I remembered being really annoyed by the third time they let Naraku escaped.
Samuel Long
One episode a day. Also it's 158 episodes if you ignore the filler, which you should.
Bentley Lee
The problem with Naraku was that his concept as a man made of demons was underused. Rather than have him absorb useful demonic abilities to counter the efforts of the party, he hid behind barriers and used bees every time.
Lucas Bennett
Often yes.
Chase Martin
I like it, I even watched the whole thing recently (except the movies), but the main problems to me were:
Poor pacing, repetitive
Inuyasha himself was the worst character in the series. He had an incredibly shallow and repetitive personality and he has no real character growth (he barely changes through the entire series). He's so flat it almost seems like he is a satire of typical angry dumb brash protagonists, every other character, even Naraku and his created youkai were more interesting and more nuanced than him despite getting nearly no screen time, and let's not even mention the other 3 of the main cast, Miroku in aprticular could carry his own show easily.
The biggest mistake in this series wasn't the stretching or the repetition, it was having Inuyasha in it.
Ethan Walker
Let's tone the blogging down a little there
Xavier Butler
>The biggest mistake in this series wasn't the stretching or the repetition, it was having Inuyasha in it. Now that's a little reaching
Luke Ward
Inuyasha is my favorite isekai show.
Jacob Murphy
Still has one of the best boys. Memorable character with an amazing design, fun companions and important presence around him.
Landon Gomez
lolicon
Lucas Cruz
I hate to be that guy, but who are you quoting? Inuyasha always gets, uncharacteristically for this board, histrionic free, even handed discussions for the most part. Inuyasha has managed to somehow dodge the "Gateway for Casuals" stigma despite hitting all the checklists. Flaws and strengths are discussed, virtue signal is minimal.
Mason Nguyen
I think it's because it's normally hated by so many mainstream anime viewers and written off as a show for landwhales despite not being that horrible.
Sup Forums is characteristically very lenient on Rumiko Takehashi in general for whatever reason.
Jose Richardson
inuyasha isn't hated. it's just agreed it got overstretched and had bad combat with too much bees and barriers
Matthew Hughes

Those are my thoughts and experiences with the show. That's what OP asked for.
Tyler Thomas
is was good until the story looped itself every few episodes.
Nathaniel Moore
You're right, for me as well the music has been the one thing that stuck with me. When I moved to Japan and came back to anime after 8 or more years hiatus I was looking for music to help me study. I immediately looked up specific songs I remembered. I was surprised to find 40% of the songs were from Inuyasha and 40% were from Kenshin.
Hudson Barnes
Also it had been about 10 or 12 years since I heard any of those songs but I still remembered them. I watched Inuyasha on it's first Adult Swim run. This was before I had seen much anime and was used to normie media. The first ending gave me feelings that would have made me feel too faggy to explain to anyone. And so I never have until now lol.
Colton Barnes
I had only ever watched shows that 4kids had dubbed up until I saw Inuyasha, and with how localized 4kids had made everything, the scripts, a lot of the music, actual editing of animation, etc. I only recognized most of those as cartoons mixed with the north American shit. It wasn't until I heard from my cousin about this crazy show that aired on YTV's late night anime show called Bionix that I really recognized anime as its own thing. Inuyasha 100% changed my life, I dunno if it has been for better or for worse but I really doubt I would've really gotten into anime if I hadn't seen it.
On that note about the first ED. The song mixed with the imagery of lights of Tokyo stuck with me so much that when I moved into my first downtown appartment back in September the first thing I did the night after I got myself moved in was hangout on the balcony and got really stoned while listening to that song while looking out over the lights in my town.
Jason Russell
another YTV Bionix InuYasha viewer.
I can relate so much to that.
Adam Reyes
Anime was for me what Pink Floyd was for my dad and Chuck Berry was for my grandad.
Josiah Thompson
Sup Forums is tsundere for IY
Jackson Walker
>Kikyo is a lot better
How? Does she get more exposure? If so I'll check it out since she's my waifu
Austin Ramirez
>He had an incredibly shallow and repetitive personality and he has no real character growth
That was all the characters besides Sesshomaru.
Leo White
It's hardly great. Protagonist isn't all that likable (in hindsight, he is much better than modern shonenshit MCs though), most of the crew isn't that likable either. It's battleshonen but with only one villain. And everytime the protagonist gets a powerup, the villain also gets a powerup. Except it doesn't really make him stronger, just harder to kill. So he's the typical annoying regeneration cuck like Majin Buu or Orochimaru: Can't do jackshit except regenerate and slither away and pretend like he isn't a weak bitch.
The protagonist does little with his own strength. Everything his handed to him through his super special awesome sword. In fact it's a major plot point that his father arranged all of this because, in essence, he knew Inuyasha is a weak bitch while Sesshoumaru is strong enough not to need gibsmedats. Sesshoumaru, his character arc, and every character he associated with is pretty based though. Even got the final kill on Naraku's body iirc.
Ryder Wilson
Girls watched it user, those people have cooties.
Tyler Kelly
I don't hate it I love it! I love Inu Yasha!
Matthew Ortiz
Its an unholy combination of shonen and shojo, with all the worst parts of both
