And this is going to be rushed as well, the main OVAs were 110 episodes and that not counting the movies, even if we cut some of the fat this would still be at least 4 seasons long and this is just 12 episodes long.

Feels like a reverse of the Stardust Crusader OVA from the 90s. What worries me is they'll just rush through the entire Lippstadt war to get to Sieg's death but there's no way I see them doing that in under 12 episodes if it is that amount. Then again the modern anime audience probably can't appreciate slow burns anymore.

Even if you rush there is a lot to cover such as Iserlohn, Lippstadt League, Geiesburg and Iserlohn, Vermillion, Battle of Mar-Adetta Starzone ... there is a LOT, even if they just did the first 2 volumes they would have to cut half of what the original OVA covered, they would have to completely remove Job Trunicht and everything with the Alliance in the backstage.

There is no way they can do it unless space battles are just the after action reports, this is going to be a mess.

First volume alone could be twelve or twenty four episodes. There's that much content.

It's 12 episodes and then three movies, so that would cover everything from the books in S1 of the original OVA (there's a few OVA original episodes)

I honestly like Oberstien/Reuenthal (one on the far right) and Mittermeier. Long hair dude next to Reinhardo-sama is also fine as a design. Kind of has a more romanticised idea of what Reuenthal might look like.

I think the fact that you can't tell which character the far right one is supposed to be is a huge mark against it already. Both Oberstein and Reuenthal have notable unique design aspects that should make them easy to distinguish from one another if you're familiar with them. If these new designs can't manage to make the characters recognizable then they've already failed.

as for the new FPA dudes;
Julian is far to generic in that outfit but I assume once he's in uniform it'll work better. I quite like that he looks legit young.
Cazlenes is okay, never a super memorable character for me but he seems fine.
WALTER VON SCHNEKOPP looks a bit to slight but his face is good. Hair should have been greyer but that's just because I'm used to the OVA design. No idea how old he is in the books.

Overall, not as distinct as the OVA designs but I'm honestly happy with how they ended up.

I was honestly just hedging bets as I didn't want to assume the picture certain. Far right felt most like Oberstien (which is why I put his name first) but I felt the need to be cautious for some dumb reason. I also didn't look at the collars which is another solid indicator.

Oberstien looks suitable calculating and precise and Reuenthal looks broody.

Yang looks way better here than in the last preview art. The pose helps a lot but his face looks far better as well.

Julian is the weakest design there, I feel but that might just be the school uniform.
