Easy mode: take an established series (anime or western are both acceptable), change a few minor details around and call it a brand new original idea. Don't mention the name of the original series and see if someone calls you out on it.
Hard mode: write an interesting, unique isekai. except the story must take place in the most boring parallel universe imaginable and you have to find a way to make it interesting.
Nightmare mode: write a realistic love story grounded in reality without any over the top situations/characters, so no gratuitous lewdness or harem shit allowed. also your target audience are teenage girls and young women.

A boy falls in love with a girl.
Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, the girl he was talking to was his cellphone. The MC realizes the deus ex machina gave him the ability to communicate with household objects, and pretty much every thing in his room has a harem SOL trope personality, and wants to fuck him.
While the MC slowly starts to lose his mind, not knowing if this is really happening, if he went insane, or if this is just some sort of prank, the actual human girl starts noticing he is acting strange, and feels a need to understand what happened to him. DRAMA ensues as the MC starts humoring the idea of actually falling in love with an inanimate object, while the girl tries to understand the bizarre NATURE of his LOVE.

A 25 episode show about WW2, from the perspective of a Japanese sailor and US marine. Starts off with the Japs looking bright and in high spirits while Americans are upset and struggling. Over the course of the show you'll see situations slowly change and how the characters react to it, until the eventual a-bomb drop. Episode 25 is both main characters finally meeting years later because their kids are getting married.

mMC and fMC are neighbors and have been friends since childhood. they are constantly together so everyone assumes they are the perfect couple and will get married etc.
But truthfully they don't really like each other. Their friendship based on mutual convience and the fact that neither of them can face being alone. So when mMC gets a girlfriend fMC is heartbroken and confused. How can she be jealous if she never really liked him? She tries dating herself but she can't stop thinking about mMC. Maybe they were more than just a convient geographical friendship? How can she be sure she's not just acting out of spite and fear of being left alone after all that time?

Here's my idea for a new Macross series.
in the future, all colony/exploration fleets carry an idol in case they come across lifeforms or ancient tech that responds to protoculture. Just before jumping to exploratory space, the latest colony fleet finds a derelict spaceship in a decaying orbit around titan. They pick it up for study before warping out.
Once on the frontier, they encounter a new hostile species, but manage to survive the first few skirmishes b/c of their idol. But oh no! The idol dies, and there’s no one good enough to replace her! With the enemy baring down on them, a researcher finds an odd musical AI program hidden deep in a secret harddrive partition of the derelict spaceship.
They activate it, and the artificial idol saves the day with a showstopping number—so they use the AI program to defend the fleet—until its discovered—the AI is actually a copy of SHARON APPLE!!!!
after this it basically turns into system shock 2

MC-kun is studying physics, chemistry or generally any other scientific subject at uni. He gets trucked and finds himself in a generic fantasy-RPG based-medival world. A caring onee-san takes him in and allows him to live in her house. He gets fed up with the world's shit very quickly. Society is too relient on magic, halting scientific progress for hundreds of years, and slavey and discrimination are widespread. With onee-san's support he decides to become a teacher and offer cheap lessons to anyone willing to listen - In mathematics, philosophy and ethics of human culture, and basic science, determined to make the world a better place. He also has a smartphone (and no way to charge it) that some evil factions are interested in because it seems magical, also the ruling class of the city he's in really hates him. It's similiar to Dr. Stone in tone with MC doing a lot of science.

I'd read that.

Normal Dude in a western country gets isekai'd into cliche jap fantasy world etc etc. BUT he's a cute catgirl (he's very unhappy with that). AND he's part of a harem (accidentally, since normal things for him, like hugging and calling people by their first name are seen as a big tease for people there). No he doesn't love the harem master, he's only there because it's convenient to get to his goals.

MC gets hit by a truck. Instead of going to a parallel world he just goes to heaven which is a parallel world in it of itself. Except heaven is boring because it’s squeaky clean and has a billion rules to make sure anything remotely fun is banned. MC meets a girl and falls in love. But they can’t do anything too lewd. Series follows their budding relationship despite the puritan rules ruining their fun.

MC is TRUCKED® and wakes up expecting to be in a magical fantasy world Instead he is faced with an infinite white space. He walks around for a while but nothing changes or happens. Eventually he meets up with some other anons who have also been isekied. Some of them have trapped here for decades, they tell him he doesn't need to eat or drink in this world and you can't die either you just wake up in another part of the void (you still feel pain tho) Some of them speculate this is some kind of limbo and that if they trigger something they can leave, although no one has achieved this as far as they know.
Also they tell him they are going to kill him because this is their corner of the void.
MC thinks on his feet and makes them a rash promise; he absolutely will get them out of the void, he just needs to work out how.

In Alternate Earth, Magic & Battle Academy have been erected to protect humanity. However, MC is not employed on one of those schools. Instead, he learn how to fight and do magic in unorthodox way : adapting, combining, and even crafting new magic from each academy. In fact, MC lives his life as a Hunter (which is seen as an obsolete job in this world).
Hailed from a hunting village on northern continent, MC usually partakes in hunting beasts, monster, or animals with the remaining elders in that village, as most of the residents already migrated to the main city or central continent.Until one day, a mysterious elder invites him to become the Craft Watcher, a mysterious and discreet organization whose purpose to observe and keep an eye on Magic Academies then report it back to the organization. In case of emergency or severe accident occur in those school, Craft Watchers will be dispatched into said school and neutralize the situation, without being recognized (meaning he has to go undercover, just think this as Secret Service for Magic).
Feeling bored and languid in the village, MC agree to join said organization and will be given the code name "Kothar" (Or Kotaro in Nihon, MC's real name will not be revealed for a long time). Now MC, along with the other Craft Watchers, will travel the entire world to visit Magic Academy then observe the situation in there. While at it, MC will learn Magic or Battle of the said school, which he will use for daily hindrance in his task. The other job is to seek illegal, forbidden or obscure Magic Academies that have stayed hidden somewhere in this world then ban them down (or destroy them if they resist).
The usual anime failure-and-unpopular-but-have-hidden-skill-and-will-attract-girls school boy will attend in one of those school, together with their harem hijinks and other kind of shit that you've usually seen in LN. But the point of view will be taken from our new MC.

A massive rebellion explode in Japan with it's indigenous people formed an alliance called The Tribe and seize National Diet Building, execute the Prime Minister, then take hostage of the Emperor. The Tribe itself consists of many various native people such as : Azumi, Hayato, Koshibito, Kumabito, Kumaso, Mishihase, and Saeki. After the fall of Japanese Parliament, the country was thrown into confusion and chaos. The mainland itself is divided into many region where each member of The Tribe ruled them. Even after that, the member of The Tribe conspire against each other and intend to take the whole mainland for their own native tribe.
The Tribe capture most of current modern people, which The Tribe dubbed them as 'Yamato people', and turn them into slaves. But some of them managed to escape from getting capture and form a resistance called "Children of Amaterasu".
After the mainland rebellion was over, The Ainu and The Ryukyuan declared independence and claim Hokkaido and Ryukyu islands as territory of their own respectively. They refused to join The Tribe because the resentment to some of The Tribe member for past invasion. Both of them are ruled by young High Priestess Regent, chosen to lead their own people according to each native's belief.
Our MC is the last descendant of Aterui from the Emishi people. He did not join the rebellion and prefer to remain at his home (somewhere in Tohoku region) to wait the current event passes and continue on his comfortable life. However he got tangled deep into this mess as he stumbled upon Ainu High Priestess Regent herself, whom just lost the war with the Koshibito and tried to escape from the rest of her pursuer.

In a world where humans are constantly at war with vampires, our young MC has just completed his training to become a member of the Battle Clerics, priests who wield supernatural powers to destroy the undead.
He is eager to serve his holy cause, but on his first mission he is shocked to encounter a vampire in the form of a beautiful young girl. He'd always been told they were hideous monsters, and his training involved him being celibate. He hesitates, and she takes advantage of his lack of experience and seduces him, turning him into her vampire slave.
Rather than pit him against his brethren, she uses him as a spy on the inside, reporting on the Battle Clergy's strategies and studying their history. As he is forced to delve deeper into their archives, he learns that the war with the vampires is not as black and white as it seems.
Most of the show revolves around his efforts to cope with his new vampiric urges and keep his undead status hidden from his former comrades, as well as the ongoing sexual tension between him and his mistress.
I don't know if this should be some kind of weird romantic comedy or something more psychological and horror-themed.

A story set in a society where technological advancements have gotten to the point of frivolity. It's illegal to genetically engineer a new sentient person outside of an approved deviation level from a genetic human standard, but the advent of consciouness transferring has introduced a legal loophole where you create a nonstandard body without brain functions and transfer into it.
It takes place in a cafe where the waitresses hop into genetically engineered hostess bodies designed to appeal to customers with exotic tastes. The main character is some guy who finds himself assigned to inhabit the body of a cat girl.

>Nightmare mode: write a realistic love story grounded in reality without any over the top situations/characters, so no gratuitous lewdness or harem shit allowed. also your target audience are teenage girls and young women.
Takuya is a gangly, thin-faced final year student who has kept his head down for his high school years, going with the flow like all his fellow friends. They're all mired in the reality that they're all going to go their separate ways anyway, and don't have any true call to bond with one another outside of the usual social obligation of a karaoke mixer or a time at the batting cages. One day on his home from cram school, he encounters a busker--a Finnish-Japanese "college student" named Ritsuka--and her band, who are practicing without a proper permit and are chased by the police.
She learns that Ritsuka attends a big-name and is a final year student in Biology. Not exactly knowing what he wants to do in his life, Takuya takes a strange interest in it only to realize that he has a passion in one thing else: Archaeology. Ritsuka becomes Takuya's tutor in a mutually beneficial relationship. She'll help him keep his grades up in the sciences and maths ... and his parents will pay her.
Over the series, bits and pieces that they say to each other actually has them practicing what the other said in their lives. Ritsuka comes to know that there is always a little more learning to be done and that she'll never know everything; nor is it too late to start anything new ... or to forgive someone who can't defend themselves anymore. Takuya forges true friendships with his friends, helping them pursue their own ambitions while becoming his own person. They become actual friends rather than "guys who hang out at the same table at lunch".
How it ends? Haven't thought about it yet.

It's the final battle against the demon lord and the hero has just vanquished him but he too falls to his grievous wounds from the battle. As he dies his soul is summoned to our world accidentally by a teenager and takes over his body, at the same time the teenager's soul is kicked out of the body and he goes into the hero's body which got restored by the archpriest's endeavor to revive him but doing so has gained a connection between the two souls.
Without any knowledge experience of the world they got into, they must work with each other's advice and experience to guide each other in surviving the world as they attempt to go back to each other's respective bodies.
After the defeat of the demon lord, the church has branded the hero as too dangerous of an existence and he must be done away in order to not disrupt the balance of their world whereas the hero in the teenager's must work to feign knowing the people close to him. To some degree the hero is able to fake it well however he cannot fool the childhood friend and his other friends as his chivalrous attitude has caused him to get into fights already which the teenager would normally never engage in. And as a crisis for the teenager, he is driven away and forced to hide from the country as he gets more and more paranoid in which people to trust.
However as the series progresses, it's increasingly more apparent that their connection is fading and they adjust more and more into their roles and eventually almost gives up all hope until a deus ex machina arrives in the form of a goddess that the teenager befriended as the hero.
It would be 26 episodes and gets a movie sequel where they get to actually meet each other.

I wrote a 100-page incomplete isekai years ago. It's medieval -> fantasy medieval. MC is a blacksmith's apprentice who's call-to-action is he's sent to sell supplies to a nearby lord. They get held up by some strange knights being pursued for cargo, and the knights take them as hostages to make use of the boy's second wagon. During the pursuit the world changes and the knights get mysteriously killed off during the boy's sleep, looking like by an animal. Boy is lost, travels til finds nearby inn where he talks with people and realizes they don't think they're in the England he "knows" he's in. One of the men in the inn hitches a ride with him to a nearby city, that was located near where the boy was supposed to go (the landmass is mostly the same shape). He realizes it's a much bigger city than expected and that the King is the lord here. The boy is confused but decides to give it a shot anyways, and the inn guy comes with him. On the way to the king's keep, we are shown that the king has a special book (the book changes the physical world by what's written in it). The bored king only allows the boy to come because he writes that the boy's wagon has assassins and he wants a fight. He's met with confusion that the assassins aren't there, and the boy's confused that his weapons are seemingly brittle in the hands of the king. He's sent off, and then the king decides to take him in and sends assassins of his own to stop him from leaving. In the end, there's an item in the chest that protects the make-up of the world nearby it. The boy and the other guy escape, and in the destruction and confusion from the king's writing, a few others join for the ride. Out in the wilderness, the boy comes to realize monsters are commonplace in darkness and fire is their only protection.
Winged it all. Kinda cliche, the plot mechanics are nonsensical. I realized I had no idea where to take it or what the point of it was so I stopped, but was fun (pic-related is cover I made)

The MC is taken to a world that is basically like 14th century rural Europe, not romanticized but how it really was. People live in their own shit, everyone dies at the age of 40 and noblemen rape the village girls whenever they feel like it. The entire show is the MC desperately attempting to survive. She does some fucked up shit including cannibalism and prostituting herself to stay alive and in the final episode the village she is staying in is burnt down by marauding soldiers and she is raped and killed. The end.
So would the onahole be the loose girl that only sleeps with him? A high-class whore if you will.

A Japanese officer in Dutch Indonesia stationed in Jakarta takes a beautiful Dutch woman as his sex slave. He basically rapes her constantly while on campaign, but slowly begins to develop legitimate feelings toward her. He begins showing kindness towards her and slowly, she begins to develop affection toward her as well. At one point another, higher officer tries to take her for himself and the man kills him and deserts into the Indonesian jungle with the girl. They survive for awhile in the jungle, but are eventually found by Indonesian guerillas after the war is over. The officer is killed, and the woman is once again taken as a sex slave to one of the Indonesian officers, where she proceeds to burn herself, as well as a number of the Indonesian soldiers, alive.

People are class-locked, and so most people don't ever have hopes of leveling up, because skilled labor typically nets a low amount of experience. Of course, if you dedicate yourself you can still max out a skill to make your way in the world and live a life out of poverty. Our protagonists does so not for the livelihood, but because he genuinely likes fishing.
One day, he nets an ultra rare spawn, and winds up pulling a leviathan class monster out of the sea. Because this is a video game-like world, he only needs to catch it with the mechanics of his skill, and no real battle ensues to defeat it. By doing so, he gets a gigantic boost in exp and extremely rare loot, lining his pockets with money.
He's not really interested in making a life as a hero, despite becoming incredibly strong, saying he doesn't know anything about fighting. Instead he spends lavishly on a party for his village, and asks his blacksmith friend to fashion him some good fishing gear from components he looted.
The money draws the attention of a bandit lord, who consequently pillages the village and steals his childhood friend while he's out fishing. Together he and his blacksmith friend go out in search for her, and he picks up/uses unique fishing-based fighting styles to reach her. At some point the blacksmith also picks up some decent exp tagging alongside him and becomes a formidable fighter in his own right. The qt childhood friend has her own destiny that he gets mixed up in and eventually he becomes a hero in someone else's story. At the end he marries her and they live a quiet life in his fishing village together like he intended.

I like the idea of this. An isekai made like this might make it great on Royal Road

Depressing Senior year student going through the motions in life. Average test scores, average, if a little husky, weight (still able to run a mile within 10 minutes), video game addict but understands the need to study to get decent grades so he can have a stable job/life in the future, no true friends but no actual rivals/bullies, not hated but not really popular among his classmates. The definition of background character. One day, as he is walking home he almost gets hit by a truck because he wasn't paying attention. He watches Truck-san go by down the road. He heads home to play *insert popular MMORPG game here* for a few hours, goes down to get food from the fridge only to hear that an accident has happened again near his house but disregards it and goes back upstairs to study, eat and go to sleep. He wakes up the next day, both parents already gone for work, to see he got a mass text message the night before with a terrible news: One of his classmates was hit by a truck last night and she is in critical condition. He arrives at school where everyone is shocked and stunned; the student that was killed was the well liked class rep who got along with everyone with her bright and cheerful attitude. She actively tried to make friends with everyone no matter how mean they were. MC remembers her coming to say hi to him on their first day of school as well as the many other times when they passed through the halls that she greeted everyone by name, even his. Yeah, he thought she was cute, but it wasn't enough to develop an obsessive crush on her. The Homeroom teacher states that the student is at the local hospital in intensive care and barely hanging in there. Classes that day is subdued and noone is talking among themselves, even during lunch and break. Afterschool, MC goes home and begins to play his game again. As he is farming up on the local monsters he sees in the chat log that someone is yelling "help".

Thinking it is a random low level newb that got lost while exploring, he teleports to the character's location to see them surrounded by high level monsters (though not enough to worry the MC) After taking agro and finishing off the monsters himself (getting some decent gold from it as well) he turns back to the newb character only for him to almost shit himself in shock; the character (although in altered graphics) looks exactly like his classmate that got hit by a truck. The anime would basically be the MC trying to keep the girl alive long enough until she gets better at the hospital. However, if she dies more than 5 times in the game, she dies for real. Her goal is to level up to level 60 by the end of the school year so she can graduate with all her classmates.

>girl is a soccer player >decides to enroll in an all boy's school to join their elite level soccer team >of course she has to pretend to be a boy >hilarity ensues >cast includes.. >the hot shot star player who's actually really shy and can't talk to girls at all and ends up being her main love interest >the womanizing chad who's actually a total bro and tries to hook up the MC with several cute girls >the tough guy delinquent obsessed with masculinity and idolizes MC as being the shining beacon of maleness >the stoic captain who acts as the straight man for this comedy act of a soccer team >an effeminate player on the team who may or may not be a gay trap who is the only one who realizes MC's gender bending disguise and becomes her de facto best friend

Something barebones I spend like 10 minutes thinking about.
MC is your everyday high-schooler. Suddenly, every time he falls asleep he starts dreaming of various events of his past. What he does in his dreams translates into reality, meaning the past gets overwritten and as a result the present he lives in becomes different in small to massive ways depending on the dream. He has no control over when he wakes up, and nobody he turns to takes him seriously.
The focus of the anime would be on the physchological aspect of how the uncontrollable and unpredictable alien power affects the mental sanity of the MC. How he tries to adapt as the single constant in an everchanging reality, how he learns more about his powers, how he starts growing more and more detached from those around him and he start seeing them as less human, how he tries to time and time again to recreate his pleasant memories in the dreams but something always goes wrong, how he eventually gets so mentally exhausted and sick of everything changing that he refuses to fall asleep to the point of self-harm so the pain keeps him awake.
I haven't thought about how to end it or what the point would be aside from being suffering porn. I tried to get away from the generic high-school setting but I fear changing that would make the MC less relatable.

First day of class. Boy meets a girl and tries to befriend her but she blows him off. He later finds out that she's suffering from severe social anxiety and selective muteness. She struggles with school life due to her problems. Boy constantly tries to befriend her but she's unresponsive and he has no idea what to make of her. One day she gives him an envelop with a website on it. He goes home to check out the website and it's her blog which is filled with nothing but anime, video games and other nerdy shit. Her blog persona is the polar opposite of her real life personality, she's loud, eccentric, charming and lovable. Basically her blog/the internet is the only place where she can truly be herself despite her selective muteness. They begin exchanging emails, which is the only real way she can communicate with him. She apologizes for being such a sperg and thanks him for always trying to be a friend to her. Their relationship grows as he tries to help her with her problems. Over time, he slowly falls for her. Her online persona begins to blend with her real life personality and her condition begins to improve.

An anime about a hyper-magical civilization simultaneously under destruction and rebirth , all caused by the continuous, never-ending rampage of an eldritch abomination and its servant across it
