Fuck you newfag. Grump Jiisan was great. I miss him. Get some taste.

damn

RIP, where you are Jiisan.

Dead.

>I joined in summer 2016

that's it? feels like more than that.

RIP

remember when Sup Forums wasnt just shonen and moeshit generals? remember when posting naruto was a bannable offense?

I couldn't believe it.

I miss him.

Grandad?

I can't

He'll be back to save anime one day. Hold on tight Sup Forums. Just keep believing!

...

Moot ruined everything

he's dead right?

...

>spend almost a decade emailing moot ceaselessly about adding mode=cat
>finally adds it
>entire site becomes general thread garbage

I guess this is what it feels like to have played yourself. At least I don't have to browse this web sight much now.

>remember when posting naruto was a bannable offense?

Never was

>Go out in the Arizona to review anime
>This was 10 years ago
He probably got bitten by a rattlesnake or gila monster and died out there while recording

didn't one of his nephews confirm his death?

He probably means the period in 2005-2006 where the majority of Naruto threads were deleted on sight or were hijacked and then deleted because the mods couldn't be bothered to clean them when they were full of gore and touhou.

Remember when we were bound by memes? Grow up and get over it.

...

...

Oh, but that doesnt make Naruto itself a bannable offense. Its just Sup Forums driving it off with mob mentality

Its important that moot even put his foot down about Naruto

Nowadays you get deleted and banned for trolling them. What the fuck happened with the moderation here?

Remember when someone who used works like moeshit was promptly redirected to Sup Forums?

Yeah good times, too many normalfags browsing Sup Forums nowadays though.

Remember me Sup Forums?

>hurr I was just pretending to be retarded

>hello guys I am a newfag

Remember when fun was actually allowed on Sup Forums?

Ironic shitposting is still shitposting

Remember when we had
>sound threads
>radio threads
>cyoa's

good times

you dead gramps.

I miss him.

Remember when Best Key Girl threads were allowed?

>Naruto itself a bannable offense
I seen on rare occasions that Naruto was a bannable offensive carrying over into the 2010s, and even a couple times during 2014 and 2015. Just that it came back in "style" with Boruto. And now that a good fraction of shounen shit is dead (Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tale, etc.) and we're moving into a new generation of shounen trends (Hero Aca, OPM, SnK, etc.) in the west, it's dialed down a lot of both sides of shounen posting. This also revolves the turning death of internet culture of the pre-2010s, from nico videos being mirrored on YouTube, the kind of anime fandom that was so embarrassing you could related it to furries, eurobeat posting, and that sort of cheesy haremshit everyone was fucking stroking off to. There's more to it that than but then I would just be nostalgiafagging for two max word posts. Most of us are all adults now and there's always going to be newfags among us trying to adapt into the Sup Forums mentality while bringing in his own influence of the post-2010 internet. 2004-2009 was a sort of blind peak of internet trends without influence from a higher power or older community to direct to the younger. Everyone from the pre-2000 internet actually partly made the early 2000 culture of then too, so they're part of that long era of faggotry.

I miss Sakurafish and KING ARCHER

What did people post around 2007? That's when I started browsing and I only went on the TTGL and Lucky Star threads, I can't remember anything else.

>eurobeat posting

i like you user

remember when threads were like this

fuck off retard

Ahem, move this thread to /qa/ please.

"Fun" threads are still being made every now and then, but they are always full of shitposters complaining about Sup Forums and reddit.

>2004-2009 was a sort of blind peak of internet trends without influence from a higher power or older community to direct to the younger.
I would like to use this post as an example, btw.

I found the general change in attitude towards shonenshit curious. Back then, Naruto was actively repelled, Bleach was treated as a meme, nobody ever fucking talked about HxH.
Nowadays people seem to have a very high opinion on shonenshit like BNHA, HxH is fucking everywhere for some reason, I guess Chimera Ant arc made it popular or something. And generally the fanbase seems to be pretty convinced they are good works.
One Piece is the same it's always been, dicksucking fanbase that will not admit a flaw if their life depended on it. Only difference is that now there's more shitposters in the threads.

is this gay purple man?

Jesus Christ

obviously there were bad things in that time too,
duplicate numerals posting, tripfags, gaiafags just to name a few examples

Jii-san was a man of true patrician taste. I will never forget him.

>tfw still subscribed to his channel

Fuck off you piece of shit. Jii-san will always have a place at Sup Forums.

Because shonenshit is big with normalfags and Sup Forums is overrun with phoneposting 15 year olds.

>remember when posting naruto was a bannable offense?

Remember when moot shat on all the anti-naruto faggots just for shits and giggles?

remember me Sup Forums?

Can somebody explain me the gaia meme, i'm newfaggot.

It's like the copypasta said: It's not that [shounen] is inherently awful, it's that the kind of people that [shounen] attracts are the absolute worst kind of poster. As soon as we stopped trolling the everloving shit out of them, they set up shop. Now there's so many of them they act like they own the place.

Don't care this thread is meta and shouldn't be here.

You're an underage faggot, there's a difference.

The contrarianism contrarianed so hard that it circled all the way back to like, or at least indifference

Lurk more.

>Underage, huh!
>25

No, i just never asked and this thread is about oldfags, so i wanted to know.

im not gonna spoonfeed you, all the information is available on the internet

Essentially

Naruto threads were deleted because they were shitposted to death.

>Never heard about it before until coming here

I just want to know what makes that thing so bad to people here, it looks like some mmo chat with anime looks.

This is going to sound pretty tinfoil, but assume that 2000-2009 anons grew up hitting the 2010s or later, right? They're young adults who are easily impressionable by current society WHILE making an impression on the younger generations too. Suddenly, anime get's a little more trendy with high production shows appealing to the largest audience possible and western localizers with a decade worth of experience who know how to market now. Now anime is a enthusiastic internet culture among teenagers and young adults, going to what I said earlier about a generation without support, now the 2010 kids have a WHOLE GENERATION of people who were into anime as the new kids are now. And don't forget about our gook friends overseas, Otaku shit in Japan takes off more into a corporate and industry heavy front now, with a push to sell and globalize. Voice actors and idols stealth market Japan along with big studio names and various light novel adaptations looking to be the next big seller. Isekai was the nail on the mark, popular for video game pandering and lower level of expectations and standards by the medium and premise, it's a fucking stroke killer of combinations back and forth. How does the west take in all this? Youtube anime channels of variations, tons of streaming support and merchandise, overseas collaborations efforts, trade and marketing taking off like a fucking rocket.

I hope there's people following me on this, I'll even take criticisms on here if I need it, but this whole 2015+ farce on anime is the most artificial and corporate influenced trend on anime ever and there's nothing we can do when half of west media is focused on not being as racist as possible and take in foreign culture like a dick in the ass.

>gaia
God DAMN, remember when THIS was our fucking crossposters? Faggots on reddit could never amount to the sheer volume of ignorance and stubbornness. I wanted to choke every single last one of them out with my FUCKING BOOT.

His story is pure tragedy

...

>some geezer reviews entry level anime
>proceeds to take a hike and die
>WOW REMEMBER THAT GUY
>HES A FUCKEN LEGEND
I bet he wasn't even a wizard.

>this was posted in 2008

Summerfags don't exist anymore. Feels Sup Forums is constantly full of them year round now.

I blame smartphones, they made internet access too easy for the normal person.

>smartphones,
yes this is probably a often underrated reason
you actually had to sit in your basement all day to post here all the time

Crossboarding. Easiest I could put it. Let's say Sup Forums, Sup Forums, Sup Forums, Sup Forums, and /vg/ had seen an influx of newfags since the 2015s, right? All accustomed to their own boards, suddenly a new wave of kids, NOT EVEN ORIGINATING FROM Sup Forums, show up and actively post without even a shred of lurking. Those faggots of their respective boards start to seek another place on Sup Forums with another hobby they might have. Sup Forums goes to Sup Forums, Sup Forums goes to Sup Forums and all sorts of combinations of crossposting. Sure, you could visit all these boards at once before and come off fine, but then you seep in the sort of hostility and general posting behavior and memes from other boards. Now everyone is saying kekkold and soy boy. And the boards where everyone originated is contaminated with new poster without a supporting older guide just like our 2007fags were, only worse.
This user can also partly explain the problem, I didn't even mention phoneposting because I NEVER DID THAT 10 YEARS AGO.

Smartphones did play a big part but I also blame Sup Forums, they don't know how to keep Sup Forums in Sup Forums and every time elections happen or they do some stupid shit irl a bunch of curious normalfags come flooding in there and by extension other boards.

I'm still around - no beard anymore mind you.

Yeah expect that moeshit was invented here and only moefags get mad that people use word "moeshit"

>no beard
Dropped.

Does your love of Twintails still burn?

And we got a complement later

Moe shit was used by GAR posters that were mostly nostalgiafags or crossboarders

with burning flames of passion

2010 was such full of off topic shit that people eithet don't remember or have blocked those bad times and only remember good times.

Remember Accellshitter
Thank God it died, there was a period where it kept getting to every thread I was following

Sure but shounenshit was always still here and never was banned

Blame mobileposters and the proliferation of the internet as a whole.
But-- you wouldn't believe this-- Sup Forums has been much, much worse in the past. Long before the elitism and the banning of generals, Sup Forums was awash with Sup Forums, and later to a lesser extent, Sup Forums shitters, and there were times where I could just show you a screencap of Sup Forums at the time, like for example, and you would likely say it was from Sup Forums or Sup Forums.
If you really wanna know what happened, increasingly around 2011 through 2014, elitism and-- and I hate this term, but-- "board culture" solidified itself through multiple blue boards, partially in reaction to the cancerous first meme culture at the time, partially due to some posters growing annoyed at the shitposty nature of Sup Forums and Sup Forums and just wanting real discussion

If you ask me, barring the things-i-don't-like pseudogenerals, Sup Forums pretty fucking orderly currently, jannies do their job, shitposters get the slap on the wrist, and barely a trace of the current cancerous "meme culture" as seen on the big three boards, too. Actually, everything seems a little too orderly and quiet. It's bizarre.

Newfag.

God speed, you inspired me to take up a major in computing science for some reason. I'm busy with data structures in C++ right now.

That was also precisely what made it so unique, people could talk about whatever they want and it'll sorta jab back to being anime relevant at some point 4 posts in, every 20 minutes.

>Mudo walked around the corner....

There was literally no discussion of Naruto and Bleach from 2011 up to the time each manga finished on Sup Forums.

This is what peak performance looks like.
Also
you just lost the game

I am still amazed that Sup Forums become even more shittier than it was in 2008. I mean nowadays Sup Forums is just another porn board

Remember me Sup Forums?

For some reason I still have hopes that one day, people will realize that generals aren't just threads about things they dislike.
I guess I'm a huge fool.

>without influence from a higher power or older community to direct to the younger.
no that was something awful, back when it was relevant

he is a professional alcoholic now

Sup Forums, Sup Forums, /r9k/ and friends have effectively replaced 2008 Sup Forums's role.

Remember me?
