Goku vs Cell. Wasn't it a huge character "plot hole"

Goku loves to fight people stronger tham himself.

But then agaisnt Cell he gave up and let Gohan fight instead.

Why is that?

BECAUSE he he wasn't Cooler. COOLER is the real hero.

Goku only likes to Fight people who THINK they are stronger then him but Goku knows they aren't

Why didn't Shenron tell them about the Super Saiyan God earlier when they needed it against Cell or Buu?

Goku likes fighting people stronger than himself, but he realized that Cell was far stronger. However, he also knew about Gohan's own capabilities, and figured that he would be the one to actually solve the matter.
Goku fighting Cell was more just foreplay and hoping to give Gohan some tips.

Because DBZ used to have good writing.

DBS writers could never come up with something on that level. They'd just have Goku training Gohan as usual and foreshadow his great hidden power, but once the Goku vs Cell match began they would forget about Gohan and have Goku punched the blood out of him until he unlocked Super Saiyan 3 skipping 2. Oh right, and Vegeta would unlock a filler Super Saiyan form on par with pre-Cell Games Goku simply to defeat a Cell Jr.

Cell wasn't stronger, he just had Regeneration. otherwise Vegeta would have won

Androids didnt have energy signatures and had unlimited stores of it which the Z fighters never faced b4

It's not a plot hole you retard. He realized Cell was stronger than he was, and also knew that Gohan had serious potential that could be tapped into in this situation. Sure it's inconsistent with what eventually happens with Gohan and Goku later in the series, but it's not a plot hole.

It wasn't a plot hole. Gohan was meant to be stronger than Goku at some point, and take over at protagonist. The entirety of DBZ after the cell saga is a plot hole, because Gohan turned out to be a weakling. According to Toriyama, it would've been weird if Goku wasn't the protagonist. I guess he was right, but he already made Gohan super strong in the cell saga.

Because Goku really wanted to see Gohan achieve his full potential. He wanted to see that so badly that fighting and getting stronger himself became a secondary priority.

by the time they fight cell, DBZ had already become a milking cow a long time ago and coherent scenarios had been thrown out the window.

Not sure if this is bait or just genuine lack of basic comprehension on your part. First off there weren't even 6 saiyans in either of those arcs, so no ritual could be done. Secondly, why would shenron tell them shit when he isn't asked to.

Sure he loves fighting strong guys, but he also cares about protecting earth. He knew he wouldn't be able to defeat Cell, only Gohan had the potential to become that powerful in such a short time

Goku is a fighter, yes. But he also cares about people getting stronger and seeing them grow.
Goku could have easily fucked up cell and destroyed him, but he realized that throughout all of his fights, Gohan was side lining and wasn't really getting a chance to shine. So, Goku being a dad and wanting to see how strong his son is, he proceeded to let Gohan fight, because he knew that Gohan had a ton of untapped potential waiting to be released.

As Vegeta put it, Saiyans shine when there is no hope left, when everything seems dreary and down they get back up and they keep going until they match their opponent, thats why Goku let Gohan take on Cell, because Gohans potential was there, it just needed to be unlocked by getting his shit pushed in by Cell. Goku was basically ready at any point to tag team fuck up Cell with Gohan if he wasn't strong enough to beat him.

Goku was always kinda dumb, though. It's just that his dumb was a different kind than what it is now. Cell arc was the beginning of his "I wanted to give you guys a shot" phase.

because despite TFS and the memers say, Goku does like his son, he just does it in away of showing power and strength. He wants gohan to be a strong fighter because of his potential, despite of what gohan really wants.

That or he really couldn't beat cell and relied on gohan to do it. He saw SSJ2 in time chamber for a second so he did know what he was capable of.
