1080p anime

I had been watching my Taiwanese crayon paintings on 720p for the last decade, but I recently upgraded to a more decent screen so I can see now that the episodes are kinda blurry.

Is 1080p anime still an upscaled meme or is it worth watching it like that now?

Depends on the raw, the real question is whatever japanese channels transmits in true 1080p or they're just upscaling.

It's still upscaled most of the time, but it looks objectively better than 720p

>upscaling

just die

I'd say some are worth watching in 1080p where the quality is very noticeable like Eva, Mushishi, Monogatari and Turn A Gundam. Entirely depends how it was filmed.

wait 4K is actually 2160p? what the fuck

Considering the way you frame your question, the short answer is "Always watch in 1080p". Since your system is likely doing the pure fixed-function hardware based upscaling, it does little justice to make it look sharp or good. Afaik, HS does a pretty good job of upscaling their videos.

Henneko is the only 1080p anime from the 2010s

What?

It's noticeable only for BD rips. Nips still have shitty TVs.

UPD: you better pray the release group of your choice doesn't do something atrocious causing fucktons of ringing and banding. But we live in the future of nnedi/ngu now where the latest advances in machine intelligence are utilized to make the anime tiddies look extra crisp.

>what is marketing spin?

It's four times 1080p

1920x2 = 3840
1080x2 = 2160
That's four times 1920x1080

Tomoyo Definitive Edition

The real actual 4K is 4096x2160 (Called DCI 4K) that only Film industry use it, but because the standar aspect ratio for consumer is 16:9 they need to lower the horizontal pixel to become 3840x2160 (Called UHD). To avoid confusion everyone just called it 4K. either DCI 4K or UHD.

Is there really any point in arguing about video resolution when the human eye can't see past 30 fps?

Isn't that just two times 1920x1080?

It's double in both x and y dimensions.

You can fit 4 1080p resolutions in 4K

Fuck off

I use a pretty decent screen and I see no difference between 720 an 1080 even messing with setting never gave me a "that's just fucking better", I have to confront the same frame for a while to notice a bit of sharpness.

Btw. 8k isnt consumer yet. The film industry uses 8k cameras to make post production zooming without losing 4k quality.

I really hate when an anime does a zoom and the image ends up looking like shit because they didn't bother to draw it in more detail.

So you have a 720p tv to watch your anime on?

Or do you just watch it windowed without fullscreening it?

I like when they do that for a comedic effect like in Hacka Doll

>Messing with the colors so it looks more like Clear Card Hen

FUCK
OOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFF

What's to say it didn't look like that in the studio and the tv broadcasts and home releases just fucked it up?

>he thinks that's how it was supposed to look like
With outlines looking dark grey instead of black? Yeah, no. There was color correction, and this is missing it.

Crunchyroll 1080p releases are a higher bitrate than the 720p so they're worth downloading regardless. Best results are to fullscreen whatever monitor you have and let madVR handle the rest if needed.

I prefer the look of the original though.

>not watching 1080p even with shitty screen

psss... its easier to downscale

Dude, it's very simple, if is not a BDrip then there won't be a difference between 720p and 1080p.

>What's to say it didn't look like that in the studio and the tv broadcasts and home releases just fucked it up?
There's actually a surprisingly simple answer to that.
