Honest question; why is it when Japan makes a gay or teasing a gay romance it's cute and sexy and people love it. Yet western cartoons try it in cartoon it's considered pandering and a large part of the fanbase hates it?
Honest question; why is it when Japan makes a gay or teasing a gay romance it's cute and sexy and people love it...
Because Japanese fans aren't insecure crybabies that throw a tantrum anytime they see something they don't like.
Art style. Two attractive people getting intimate is largely going to be tolerated, regardless of gender. A fat butchdyke and a 5/10 plain Jane don't inspire much love.
Har har.
Difference between a gay character and a character that happens or even just might happen to be gay?
Precure for example, they haven't said Akira and Yukari are a couple but it's very heavily hinted it.
Because the west is infected with cancer that permeates pop culture.
>implying
Remember Kannagi?
Yuri isn't gay, you ignorant westerner.
Look at your image and then go look at any screenshot from Steven Universe. That's why.
I've only seen a few episodes of adventure time in my life but I heard there was a huge focus from adventuring to tumblr leveling shipping. If you want to make a gay show then just make it gay from the start like japan does
Everyone accepts that anime is fetish porn.
Therefore lesbians in anime = lesbian fetish porn.
Nobody complains about lesbian porn.
Japan makes it hot.
Teens don't feel the need to define themselves against the people who homoship in anime, just the people who do it in cartoons
The difference is that in anime fans (at least western fans) are able to suspend their view toward seeing everything as some sort of political agenda being pushed down their throats. But in Western (or American at least) entertainment media, every little thing is seen, either subtly or overtly, pushing an ideology onto unwilling consumers.
They're both pandering, really.
One of them is just panned on cause it's "pandering to people I don't like".
Is this Precure? Damn, this is pretty sensual.
...
>Japan
>Some subtext here, maybe a big dramatic moment there that is usually carried well by the plot if it gets confirmed
>Cartoons
>Drama for the sake of drama, in your face everything seconds, characters defined almost wholly by being the gay with little other substance, have I mentioned they're gay yet? Because they are gay and those asshole bigots just want to stop this pure GAY love because they HATE gay people, which these characters are.
Western lesbian shit is about shoving it in your face as obviously as possible. This happens with anime and manga too, but only in obviously yuri series. The best kind of yuri is the subtle type, like god forbid Precure. Take Maho Precure for instance. Its not spelled out for you, but the MCs after being forcibly separated spent literally every single day thinking about each other for 5 years until a miracle happened. We didn't need to be told they're fags for each other, their actions and loving embrace after all that time apart tells you everything you need to know.
Unfortunately subtlety is in short supply for most everything.
That's like asking what's a yaoi fangirl opinion on bara.
Different cultures. Over in Japan it feels more natural as they don't have SJW's running all over the place throwing hissy fits. If you don't agree with it they go "ok cool" while if you disagree with it over here you are some sort of homophobe. Everybody in the west is doing it, it adds nothing to the characters or it is just their only character trait and the media wont shut the fuck up about how brave and stunning it is.
Because naps make it look more appealing. American cartoon makers, however, do it as some kind of political statement to pander millennial and boomers who aren't really that into cartoons in the first place
...
Reminder when someone says
>Honest question
Or some variant of that opening. Its anything but that.
Because anime girls are cute and usually are real characters not walking political agendas.
Japan allow and under certain context even encourage their youth to have fun because they're certain that those kids will grow up to become good Japanese citizens and leave the childish things behind. OP's pic is a good example of learning to fit in after a certain age
Japan does it to give you something to masturbate to.
When Japan does it it's simply considered an aspect a character, not a political statement.
Japs do it for fap fuel, and if you don't like it, no big deal, go watch something else. Westerners do it to throw their beliefs in your face, and if you don't like it, you're a fucking bigot.
Actually Japan tries hard to not offend anyone so the pandering it's well meassured. Also, unlike the west, homosexuality isn't viewed as a valid life choice, therefore some gay jokes and innuendos are safe.
This I think
ITT: numerous people talking out of their asses
Isn't that every thread on Sup Forums?
I was waiting for this.
Are they ever going to have Akira and Yukari date or is this all just a fanservice tease?
The anime is finished.
So it was all just a fucking tease? THEY NEVER ENDED UP.
Define "tease".
