yes

Android saga was the best saga

Strongest and third strongest*

How did we go from THIS?

To THIS?

to this?

Where is freeza senpai, what is he up to? Is he gonna cuck Goku out of a victory?
They left him for a reason.

nope, the Cell Saga was the worst

its a fucking streamer KILL YOURSELF

Goku should have been the one to defeat Cell if Gohan was gonna become a cuck down the later arcs.
Or even Trunks being the one to defeat him would have been fine.

Looking back, what are Goku's best fights in the entire Dragon Ball story?

Gokus best was against freeza and piccolo's against 17

I just like to pretend that DBS doesn't exist

Freeza>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I miss when Regular SS was a big deal.

You already made that a thread here dude.

The pinnacle of DBZ was Goku vs Vegeta. It's all downhill from there, but it was still infinitely better than DBS.

I watched DBS for only a few episode and it bored me already..

What is the best fight in DBS? I just need something to compare to the best from DBZ.

Honestly it’s the first Goku vs.Jiren fight.

never watched the original and didnt see much of z but I liked the abridged cell arc and the Goku black fight. think the best was Battle of gods movie/arc

Kefla vs Goku was pretty good too.

Nest week.

Only edgelords liked Cell saga.

Cell saga is like the worst part of all the canon dragon ball series. It really doesn't get any shittier than that.

>Jiren Rosa

What's wrong with Cell

everything was fine until perfect cell which was pretty garbage

redeemed in the ending though

nope. Literal opposite

To THIS!?

I find it deeply ironic that Golden Freeza resembles an ape.

Either Goku vs Piccolo in DB or Goku vs Vegeta in early Z

Apologies for the dumb question, but if I'm watching the series for the first time, should I watch the original run or Kai? From what I understand, Kai is a remake of sorts, yes?

English Kai or original Japanese in my opinion.
Original Funimation is bad, but they improved over the years.

Kai is the official abridged.

DBZ should've ended after Frieza saga.

This

Kai
Funi dub has retarded dialogue and awful filler

kefla vs goku

when you're right, you're right.

I chose not to watch this abomination but during battle of the gods Beerus eluded to newly transformed super saiyan god being 70% of his power. Surely after SSB and all this other stupidity Goku is far stronger than Beerus?

>I chose not to watch

then fuck off

UI is a game changer. Goku now has instantaneous reaction time, the only way someone's going to beat that is if they have UI themselves, be massively more powerful and faster then Goku, or have a broken ability (like gurren lagann's probability altering missiles or a better version of Hits time stop)

The Buu saga was complete garbage any time Mr Satan wasn't on screen, so I'd say that does. I do agree that Cell saga was bad too, though.

Kai pretty much removes filler trash so youre pretty much left with episodes that matter.

>chose not to watch
get out

>kai is the remastered censored version with the generic high brigh of modern anime.

>original is not censored, looks better but has filler.

Goku's pure white hair before it fades away looks way fucking better. It should be like that all the time.

Its like how blue only looks good when the aura is up.

Contrarian garbage, at least explain why you think that way.

jackie chun

>Dragon Ball ends with Goku fighting a fucking Grey Ayy Lmao
What happened to this timeline?

Goku vs Yajirobe

but theres no ep next week user

The ones he wasn't apart of.

You know what gets me the most about DBZ? Back in the day, the entire reason Frieza's fight went as long as it did was because every time Goku tried to pull a 'goku move' on Frieza, he was able to counter it.

Kaioken? Don't mean shit. Goku's more tricky maneuvers? He could see through them. Spirit Bomb? Nope.

It took a prophecy to actually take him out, and he probably could have continued fighting if he didn't do himself in.
The problem with this though, is that Frieza's fight set an expectation that techniques and smart thinking could no longer win battles: Now it had to be huge transformations, gigantic beams, and bigger numbers. Unique moves like the Distructo Disk no longer worked on anyone tougher than Cell. And anyone who actually had unique abilities (Like Buu) was also just immensely strong and unavailable anyway, so it was a moot point.

No matter the opponent, even ones with unique fighting styles and abilities like Buu or Hit, a new transformation or super attack is always the deciding factor in it all, and it's boring now. Super could have gone so many ways with the current arc, yet they went with the most predictable one possible that everyone expected and didn't want.

We live in the worst timeline, where Toriyama decided to make everyone aliens instead of keeping with the Chinese mythology themes. I'd think we'd all be over this by now, though, since it's been so long.

Not really Cell saga had some good fights, but the whole senzu bean and other asspulls they had to do so cell could get his perfect form was too annoying. Frieza saga was better.

The only thing plebs try to argue is that Kai's music is worse.

No, that was retconned right after the movie. More proof of that is how Beerus one shots Blue Vegeta after Zamasu arc.

Remember when there weren't constant crossboarder DB threads on Sup Forums?

That thing you're describing has been a thing in Dragon Ball since at least the end of the Red Ribbon saga in the original DB. No one has won due to skill since then. The closest thing was Tenshinan winning against Goku due to luck.

Frieza was fine for having an original design. DB can't end with the fucking meme embodiment of an alien with stupidly huge muscles though.

Nailed it man, it's ironic that now even Frieza himself is nothing but a joke compared to Jiren.

Didn't someone make a video about this? Talked about how goku got the water from korin's tower he beat his opponent just simply by being stronger.

Wait for Dragon Ball Z Recut

>His fight with Jackie Chun was close as hell, yet he still lost with Jackie standing up first.
>His fight with King Piccolo was one he barely managed to win by punching a hole through him
>His fight with Piccolo Jr. was such a close match that he managed to win by using a Kamehameha with his feet and making his own body a living projectile

And in Z

>Goku sacrificed himself to make sure Raditz got hit by Piccolo's powerful, armor piercing technique.
>His fight with Vegeta was a pretty solid lost, with only his comparatively weak friends and his giant monkey son being the one thing that took down Vegeta.

Frieza's fight was negating all of these styles of victory to the point that a new transformation and a giant beam was needed to win. And it has been that way with every other battle since.

Face it, fights never ended in a interesting way after Frieza, and Jiren will be exactly the same

I will give you one thing, Mercenary Tao's fights felt more like what we see now, but I'd say even he was the sole exception of the whole thing.

What about the fights in the Android and Buu arcs?

Kai's music IS worse, but that's mainly due to their shit editing after having to scramble to fix shit due to the Yamamoto mess.

if you're dedicated, original run in japanese and dragon box quality
for anything else, Kai in any dub/sub

How bad is the final chapters OST?

Seriously though, does anybody have any idea where this series could go from here? Goku is basically a god, he fights by totally clearing his mind and just instantaneously reacting to everything. Is he going to fight the angels next, and even then what kind of fight could that possibly be? I know there are still references to a power scale between the angels, but it seems like UI is supposed to be some state that almost surpasses power levels. I figured the only thing that could rock paper scissors any of this is Zeno's ability to just wipe shit, which is omnipotent peak god tier.

>His fight with Jackie Chun was close as hell, yet he still lost with Jackie standing up first.
That was before the RR saga.
>His fight with King Piccolo was one he barely managed to win by punching a hole through him
Yeah, punching really hard isn't exactly the pinnacle of strategic thinking.
>His fight with Piccolo Jr. was such a close match that he managed to win by using a Kamehameha with his feet and making his own body a living projectile
The only reason this fight was so close was because Goku insisted on following the tournament rules while Piccolo was going all out.

And that's just a few examples out of an entire series where Goku's friends job to fodder that Goku later defeats easily with nothing but brute strength. Remember Uranai Baba's fighters? Piccolo's henchmen? Nappa? The Ginyu Force?

>Cyborg Frieza died because a new Super Saiyan was revealed, and is blasted away to ash by Trunks
>Android 19 dies because Vegeta became Super Saiyan, and gets killed by a giant ball of energy.
>Cell dies because Gohan got super saiyan 2 and got hit by a really big beam and killed.

>All of Babidi's henchmen had unique abilities that the fighters just muscled through. Only exception was Dabura due to how weak Gohan was, and he was killed by Buu.
>Buu almost bypassed this rule by having things like fusions and transformations becoming a detriment because he did the exact same thing. He was also pretty much unkillable for most of the series.
>Yet in the end, Goku still kills him with a giant energy ball like everyone since Frieza.

The water didn't make him stronger. What made him stronger was the days spent trying to grab the water from korrin. He had to learn how to anticipate Korrin's movements in order to grab the water and using this he was able to beat Tao in the rematch.

Ginyu was pretty fun though, with the whole body swapping thing. But Nappa was definitely power level shit.

Even worse; what happens after he beats the angels? That's like 1, maybe 2 arcs worth of content. After that Goku has gone from being a little monkey boy to the one true god of the Multiverse.

The Ginyu Force is the one exception to that list of henchmen, but that's because Ginyu actually took advantage of Goku's confidence and inability to comprehend Ginyu's body change to fuck him over.

Ginyu's men however, did suffer from this.

Think he's referring to King Piccolo.

Oh yeah the ultra divine water was pretty retarded. Came out of nowhere and I kept waiting for it to be explained, but nope. Another powerup that bothered me was how the elder Namek could "unlock their true potential"

Goku flies off against Kame-Sen’nin’s orders, only to fail at his attempt to avenge Kuririn’s death. From the insignia that was left behind, Kame-Sen’nin determines that Kuririn’s murderer was the Demon King Piccolo. Kame-Sen’nin recounts that Piccolo was a villain who had long ago plunged the world into terror, and was supposedly sealed away through the Mafūba, the secret technique of Kame-Sen’nin’s master, Mutaito. But Pilaf and his gang have revived Piccolo, plotting world domination!

Piccolo finally appears before Goku, who has cooperated with Yajirobe to defeat Piccolo’s underlings. Goku fiercely assaults Piccolo, but he is completely and utterly beaten to a pulp. So Yajirobe takes Goku to the Karin Holy Land and the two climb Karin Tower. Meanwhile, Kame-Sen’nin attempts to seal Piccolo with the Mafūba, but tragically fails and dies a lamentable death. Piccolo has finally gathered all seven Dragon Balls, has his wish of a “restored youth” granted, and kills the now unneeded Shenlong. As Piccolo storms the King’s castle, Goku drinks the Super God Water, increasing his power many times over.

Goku arrives just as Tenshinhan is about to be killed by Piccolo’s underling Drum. The final battle between Goku and Piccolo begins. Goku soon gains the upper hand, but Piccolo takes Tenshinhan hostage and one-sidedly attacks Goku. Not giving up, Goku eventually wins the battle by bursting through Piccolo’s body with his right arm, the only mobile limb he has left.

What I did like was how in the end that potential didn't matter one bit.

We started getting a lot of transformations later on that were about as important as Guru unlocking potential. By which I mean not at all

It's fine. Sounds nothing like the Kikuchi score, and isn't very memorable, but its audio editing is a thousand times better.

>Remember when this was the pinnacle of DBZ?
Literally never was the case.

>Remember how you felt that a single fart from them could destroy a galaxy?
Bad, autism is never good.

Digital animation.

>I have no energy left i'm completly drained
>Lets somehow manage to kick ass

>Repeat atleast 3 different times in this saga

Thats what pisses me off the most. They can barely walk but somehow Son Goku manages to get power from what ?

I will never forget the moment I first saw Trunks being introduced. After all the buildup from Namek, that great intense fight versus Frieza and Goku fulfilling an ancient profecy to defeat him, he comes back stronger, and Goku is not around. I was still naive and Dragon Ball had a lot of tension in those arcs, and me as a twelve year old, was at the edge of my seat. Then, this smug motherfucker comes declaring he's arrived to kill all of them and starts slaughtering Frieza's soldiers. And when Frieza taunts him, he says Goku wasn't the only Super Saiyan. I will never forget the amount of hype those words and everything that followed them made me feel. Dragon Ball is a mess sometimes, but I have to give to Toriyama for managing the hype so well for this moment, and even to Toei, which adaptation was probably the best thing they've managed to pull out.

Something I noticed when watching Kai recently in the fight against kid Buu, was that Goku needed Vegeta to distract Buu for only 1 minute so he could regain all his energy and go Super Saiyan 3 again. One minute was apparently supposed to be more than enough to go from super exhausted to full strength.

Gohan was the most popular person in DBZ during that arc.
Completely eclipsing Goku in every way you can imagine.
Goku and everyone else were DISTANT second to him.
Him acting like Goku at the last second by assholing around instead of outright bodying cell for a few chapters was a calculated decision.
No one can be better then Goku!
The Saiyaman arc was Toriyama and or the editors outright throwing Gohan under the fucking bus.
You know it. I know it.

Dragonballs manga is so nicely paneled and I can easily follow what's happening, I wish most artist copied whatever fucking technique Toriyama uses instead of just escalation bullshit
Sometimes too much detail in one page is impressive but bad at the same time

I won't be surprised if in another 15 years, the next strongest hair color is purple.

No fuck you digital animation can look amazing. what you meant to say Toei couldn't give two shits about the anime since the only reason it even exists is to sell merchandise.
