I've no idea. As an eastern european myself these images cause all sorts of emotions to whirl up inside me. Even though I'm a south slav, I can feel some kind of connection - the Russians and the Ukrainians making these images live in a way, in a place similar to the one here. It's very heartwarming and nostalgic.

It's a rather bittersweet feeling for me. I can't help but grow wistful.
But I guess how you could see how this could be depressing. Cute, energetic, beautiful girls stuck in seemingly gloomy places like that. There's a contrast which makes these images emotionally-loaded; if they were in a developed, first world contry it just wouldn't have been the same.
