Satoshi Kon/Hideaki Anno

this little bulldog right here.

Ron Jeremy

Quentin Tarantino

Yasujirō Ozu

Rie Matsumoto

The Wachowski Siblings

Osamu Dezaki but that's kinda easy isn't it.

Brothers*

My boy. Omori and Tomino are runner-ups.

Sisters*

Can't siblings refer to both genders. I mean, it's a brother and a sister.

1. Masaaki Yuasa
2. Mamoru Oshii
3. Hideaki Anno
4. Kunihiko Ikuhara
5. Satoshi Kon
6. Hiroyuki Imaishi
7. Kenji Nakamura
8. Shinichiro Watanabe
9. Kazuya Tsurumaki
10. Eichii Yamamoto

That is exactly what siblings mean. I'm not up to date with the wacky antics of the Matrix directors so I decided to play it safe. I know one of them changed their gender but I also heard the other did too eventually. Anyway, what the fuck. Who cares.

None other than the master, Anno!

Yamada
Ikuhara
Takahata
Oshii
Yuasa

Tomino

I want to say Yamada, but it's weird that her first directed anime was also her best.

Tomino.

Kōsaka Kitarō

I'm just gonna say what everyone's too afraid to: it's Watanabe.

Miyazaki's son.

Hard boiled motherfucker, although I haven't seen any of the films he has directed. How is Nasu?

Revived my interest in cycling after decades of not cycling. I may be biased, but I liked it a lot.

Noboru Ishiguro
Seiji Mizushima
Tetsurou Araki
Osamu Sekita

Is there a reason why Un-Go was as terrible as it was?

>tfw no mountain cycling anime

Martin Scorsese

>No mention of Miyazaki or Takahata
Is this board too contrarian for these guys?

Takahata was mentioned though. Miyazaki's good but it's not my favourite.

Watanabe has one good Anime and that is Cowboy Bebop everything else is garbage. Hell I love Samurai and Hip Hop but Champloo was straight shit. Same for Terror in Tokyo. Sucked ass

Miyazaki has many good movies but many are shit too

Currently it would have to be Yuuasa. No one else in the past 8 years have matched him. Not even joking, someone name 1 director who's done better then him recently. I'll suck you off.

Space Dandy is a fantastic series, although it's more of a joint effort between episode directors.

He works pretty fast, so even though some directors would be names, non of them would match the quantity of his work. (His period between 00-10 is much more interesting than what he's doing now, though)

Yuasa has regressed imo.

Ping Pong is his best series by far though.

There's also this notion among many here that his movies aren't deep or nuanced because he tells relatively straightforward stories.

I don't like miyazaki because from the ones i've seen, all of them have some sort of fucked up romance subplot. I can like a little girl kissing a pig in porn but in a supposed family movie? no thanks.

The golden boy

>Yuasa has regressed
>Made the night is short less than a year ago

Tomino, Kon and Ishiguro are my runners up.

It's his most balanced and down to earth, his usage of the fragmented screen to adapt itself to Matsumoto's pace and portray different perspectives at the same time is fantastic, but it's also features some of the most uninteresting work on animation in his career. Not saying it's bad, in fact it is fantastic, but his MADHOUSE work felt freer to experiment with different styles (and to make animators do more personal work, too!) regardless of plot constraints. And that's without talking about Mind Game.

Lu feels like that, sometimes it's legitimately mind blowing, and I hope that's the general direction he takes in the future. There's also the fact that he's specializing a studio in flash, so his last three projects have been relatively conservative. Crybaby was very very bland, for example, although the episode directed, storyboarded and animated by Kiyotaka Yoshiyama (the fifth) was very good.

>Porco Rosso
>romance between Fio and Marco

What?

Yoshiaki Kawajiri.
