I respectfully disagree. In my honest opinion, Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star is quite simply, a more refined version of Futari wa Pretty Cure. It takes what Futari wa Pretty Cure did and improves on it in just about every way and it's a shame that Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star gets glossed over because of the doppelganger designs and ugly Cure forms.

Heartcatch. It isn't popular without reason. It gets everything right and does a good job of pulling in newcomers to Precure. Unfortunately, it starts to fumble halfway through when later characters are introduced. Don't marathon Heartcatch or else the formula will get really fucking tiring. Watch it in small doses.
Splash Star, Yes 5 and GoPri are also comparable all-rounders (but Yes 5 does have its fair share of QUALITY).

All precure has filler, it's just a matter how interesting and likable the cast is. Heartcatch is liked because it's more plot heavy than most cures. Personally I like Suite because the character dynamics are always at least mildly interesting.
One Japanese comment I read said big friends should be like the Cures and create a future where kids of today won't have to deal with black companies.
Well they got the new bracelets, and the Dark King kid went outside and met Hikari and Lulu came. Out of those the Sparkle Bracelets was the only really fun and cool thing that's happened in the 30 episodes so far.
And hell I thought they killed off some on the commanders after getting the powerup since he didnt show up at all for a few epsiodes, but then he came back, so now not only does it feel like no progress is being made it feels like they're regressing.
