Our culture just isn't the same as what it was 10 years ago. We're not so much unique outcasts anymore as everyone is beginning to transition their leisure time to online activities. And I think inevitable that western commercial interests are going to try and capitalize on Japan's popular cartoons. Just take a look at youtube, or tumblr, or the international fanbase of the big shounens to see what that future would look like. I really just hate what western culture has become.
