I can see Kanae and Takako desperately trying to restrain Gin from going after the penguins on their first expedition. Now there's only Kanae to restrain her so Gin tries to stay as far as possible from the penguins.

I wonder why this needed to happen now and not during the boat ride. It felt like a waste of the arrival episode to focus so much on Yuzuki's personal issues instead of Antarctica when they had plenty of time to tread this ground well before reaching here.

Felt like it retread the same ground and could've been less obvious about what was going to happen. Kimari going "Oh, but there's one thing we haven't told you about" felt awkward. Hopefully we get some proper Antarctica next time.

Pretty good. They gave Yuzu some much needed character development because it felt like she was being ignored after ep 3. I don't think they resolved anything though other than giving a little bit more depth to her character.

Not willing to spend time on developing your characters is one of the easiest ways to ruin your show. Actually resolving Yuzuki's trust issue in 5 a minute segment would have been awful.

not really, she did the same in episode 3, and responded similairly to Megu-chan when she tried to break up their friendship. Her being naive and kind to the point that it baffles other people is completely within her character. She comes from a very stable and loving family compared to the other girls and believes everything can be solved with a hug, she is also very empathetic towards people, she immediately sided with Shirase and helped her escape bullies before they even knew each other.
