There are literally people posting on Sup Forums right now who haven't watched 0079
Other urls found in this thread:
I have no interest in it. Why do you care what I watch?
Because it’s culturally significant
i've watched the first movie of the trilogy.
it was pretty okay, then i started with the second one... it was all over the place. dropped
...
you should redirect all the franxx threads there too
So? I'm not Japanese, why does that matter to me?
Because you have made a life decision to watch anime and post on Sup Forums
I've watched it and I'm planning a rewatch soon.
>0079

There are also people posting shitty Sup Forums style greentext threads on Sup Forums. Why the fuck don't the mods ban them?
Oh I know it's because times change. You have to accept Sup Forums is now a board for people who only watch brain dead shounenshit like Naruto, Dragon Ball, Triggershit, and Jojo's.
...
I bet you haven't watched 0079
I bet you haven't watched one of Tomino's non Gundam works
franxx is not /m/ retard
triggershit is not Sup Forums retard
...
It is literally unwatchable due to shit animation. People only like 70s anime ironically.
>I think it's unwatchable because it's old and shit animation.
>he couldn't pass the pleb filter
I have and I don't really think it was worth it. Though Ideon in particular was just a huge waste of time, at least the characters in Gundam were somewhat memorable.
Some hold up like Rose of Versailles or Belladonna.
Intellectuals will be raping you soon
You should watch it if you're a gundamfag, but it's not really all that great otherwise.
no you should watch it if you consume anime as a medium
Why? It's only significant is for japanese cutlture not for the medium of animation itself.
I watched the first 3 episodes of 0079 and I put it on hold. I'm watching patlabor.
>It is literally unwatchable due to shit animation
The state of spoonfed retards that will remain as such for the rest of their existence.
Because Gundam is gayass robot shit. Lelouch is better Char in every way anyway.
My main computer died with its handy guide for Gundam and I refuse to start the series without it.
Well I've seen 79 twice but I also dislike pretentious /m/fags so there.
but you’re consuming the medium of anime, which is Japanese culture.
I watch animation in general, should I watch every work that was culturally significant from every country that has produced animation?
Do you think it's necessary to know everything about Japanese culture in order to enjoy cartoons?
I didn't think Gundam was so intertwined with Japanese culture that it's significance is somehow alien to the west.
We have differences for sure, but not behind comprehension.
You misunderstand. I'm asking why Gundam, of all things, ought to be considered necessary for me to enjoy other cartoons which have basically nothing to do with it.
Oh, it probably isn't. But really good stories can sort of set the bar. Some people ask "When there are so many derivatives that attempt to capture the basal concept, why waste time with any derivative if it fails to surpass it?".
you should literally go back where you came from
UMmmm excuse me sweatie? I have watched King Gainer.
What makes you think I'm watching anything derived from Gundam? I think the closest I've seen is references to the slap.
Not gonna waste my time watching something over 13 episodes
Literally WHAT are you watching?
Fuck Gainer. This show is a fucking mistake. Why? Because every time it's mentioned I have to listen to its kickass OP.
>What makes you think I'm watching anything derived by Gundam?
Your question.
I know. They should get a satellite dropped on them.
>This show is a fucking mistake.
It was fun
Watched the trilogy how pleb am I?
Yes
>Tomino
Literally who?
...
That guy who came out of retirement again to save anime again.
except it is
no thanks, i'll vote for kamille.
Anime without mechs.
Huh?
Not him, but yeah I couldn't get over it. I actually jumped right to Zeta and I'm enjoying that a lot. It seems like it's doing a good enough job at explaining the relevant bits and returning characters but I know I'm not getting the entire story. I might give it another try some day.
What is at the root of Gundam's story isn't just about mechs, there can be things that were inspired by other factors. It's a mistake to believe that what OP is saying is only relevant to mech anime.
>I actually jumped right to Zeta
>Never finished LoGH
>Never finished NGE
>Never finished lain
>Never watched this shit
>Never watched gundams
>Never watched madoka
>Never watched lupin
>Never watched Miyazakis works
>Never watched Aria
>Yet I have watched anime for 7 years
I know you're judging me. That's fine. I understand.
>Anime without mechs.
Well, now you're just admitting you don't want to consume Japanese culture at it's core.
>Putting Lain and NGE on the same level as Madoka, Gundam, and Lupin
Didn't even read all of your post, except for the last line which reveals you're underage as fuck.
Why are you proud to have not done things?
i only watch kyoani kino
>fatefag
Why am I not surprised?
I wouldnt know, never watched em user
>>Yet I have watched anime for 7 years
Wow, you're such and oldfag, thanks for sharing your wisdom with us.
I presume OP is trying to imply that it's relevant to literally everything. I don't believe him and think he's a fag.
(you)
No, I just don’t see how you can call yourself a fan of anime without having seen at least 0079.
Because I'm a fan of other anime. Are you fucking stupid?
Fact: 0079, 0080 and Turn A are the only good Gundams. Everything else ranges from incredibly shit to mediocre.
>other anime
It's all derivative. Next thing you'll tell me is you haven't even read any Tezuka manga.
Those are the best but Gundam has a few other nice things.
G Gundam and 00 were great too.
Fuck you I loved Zeta
I tried some. Didn't care for it.
Why does it matter if it's derivative?
>It seems like it's doing a good enough job at explaining the relevant bits and returning characters
There's a ten minute scene around episode 40 that sets the entire philosophical significance of Zeta and is the catalyst for pretty much everything that happens in the franchise. You have no idea how much you're missing out on right now.
It's lalah vs Amuro for the people who aren't plebs
There so completely different though outside of revenge, but they both eventually diverge from that to become even more different
>Why does it matter if it's derivative?
It doesn't if you're a casual.
But if you have a legitimate interest in anime, it's history/how fluid influences are from generation to generation, I think watching 0079 is essential.
I watch anime because I enjoy it. Not because I'm pretending to be a scholar of Japanese culture.
>pretending to be a scholar
It's not even that though? Gundam is a fun franchise, it also just happens to be one of the most important.
Don't waste your time, watch 0080 War in the Pocket. Its only 6 episodes, and it has characters that you can give a damn about.
0080 is for zeek scum
I guess I'll have to live without it.
Kamille is cute
This guy starts out as the biggest autistic prick but in the end he was one of the few likable characters. He grows on you.
Amuro a shit.
But I don't find that sort of anime fun. Why do you think everyone enjoys the same things as you?
You're going to feel bad when they go back to Amuro in Zeta and you'll have no idea what Char and Amuro are talking about
But you've never even watched it, user.
Some girl that died. Or something. I find Amuro and Char's passive aggressive homo lust battle pretty uninteresting. Look, I will go back and force myself to watch MSG before I continue on with the series. But Zeta was a better introduction.
I have tried various mecha shows, including some Gundams. I haven't liked any.
I unironically thought Zeta was better
that is a sin
0079's fight choreography more than made up for it.
red storm rising 0079
It's a significant milestone of the anime subculture, something you actively partake in, you retard.
>Anime subculture
So you're either an ironic MALfag, r/anime plebbitor, or all the above. Glad I'm not part of your toxic "anime wonderland".
Japanese anime culture. It's barely even mentioned in Western anime culture.
Besides which I don't really care. Should I watch all of Dragonball and its sequels just because lots of other people have? I wouldn't enjoy it.
00 was more often trash than not.
