Interesting is that anime and manga are easily 5-10 years off because the writers and audience don't want actual high school girls but the kind of high school girls based on the own memories.
It took a lot of time until gyaru appeared in anime/manga and they are even a thing often despite the fact no one actually looks like that anymore.
