post ubw archer is the best servant you could hope for though
Brayden Collins
>Post Unlimited blade works Archer user...
But he earns a small answer. The answer is only for this summoning. It is a meaningless thing that he will forget the next time he is summoned. But there is nothing to regret. It is something that has already been built up, something that the boy will build using all his life.
There is only one thing coming and going through his mind. There is regret. He does not know how many times he wished to redo things. Heroic spirit Emiya will forever curse this end. But still
Blake Peterson
but in fgo he remembers everything
Parker Ramirez
They only get their memories wiped of their current summoning, otherwise it'd cause all sorts of paradoxes because everyone would remember events that haven't happened yet.
Owen Smith
There is no memory wipe, every servant summoned is like a page that gets burned in the end.
Nicholas Hughes
Why did saber remember kiritsugu summoning her then?
Aiden Hall
She's not a servant, that's why.
John Harris
Not a page that gets burned, a page that's returned to the book after being altered. They remember everything, but it's like a secondhand account, as if they've read it from a book or heard it from another person.
Ian Cooper
Because saber is not dead.
Justin Rogers
Well, she will be soon, she's very ill

Is it really that bad though? Of course it's bad for a moralfag like Emiya but living forever at the price of having to kill people seems like a really good bargain, especially since you can't be permanently killed yourself and you gain powerful abilities to let you do your job.
Logan Nguyen
Every human in Fate is essentially immortal though reincarnation. Not that Shirou couldnt have grasped life extension without Grail given his powerlevel as a pure murdermachine and specialist
Benjamin Jackson
But they lose all their memories. What's the point of your soul getting reincarnated if you lose your personality in the process?
Adam Sullivan
Your personality doesnt entirely consist of memories in typemoon. Your personality would be the same to an extent, still beats eternal suffering and regret dont you think?
Cooper Robinson
user... at least if you don't want to lurk you two years or read the original work of the series your interested in, at the fucking least read a fucking summary.
Colton Taylor
Question: If a servant wins, do they get to stick around? Or are they forced to be destroyed at the end of the Holy Grail War?
Aaron Murphy
>Is it really that bad though? no, he spends his eternal life doing good
hes just a whiny autistic bitch who cant handle the fact that his actions have consequences
Ryan Sanchez
Fate/Grand Order is fanfic tier in terms of canon, or at least does not apply to the continuity of universes we see throughout the visual novels and those directly linked to them. Plus, Chaldea spirits are different from Grail War spirits. I'm a fucking secondary only and get this, why don't you? I mean, it's a nice wish to imagine Emiya would be able to take his memories back with him on later cycles.
You know, I was going to ask if the information a Grail War servant learns would potentially affect the original heroic spirit at all. But I'm fairly certain that isn't the case.
While it doesn't come up, I think it has to be the Servant and/or master's wish to stick around after the grail war. In fact, I recall a huge hurdle with the grail war is that Master and Servant unions are technically STILL temporary as a master is expected to be forced to use a final command seal to make the servant request the master's wish than the servant's unless they both have the same wish.
Owen Robinson
I may be missing something, but why does he even regret being a servant at all than? Archer hates being summoned because instead of saving lives like he expected he took them instead. If he’s memory wiped each time he’s finished with the dirty work, why be so depressed about it? He probably expected to live life as literally a superhero when he 1st died. Does he have a vague sense of memory of all the shit he did in the past? I haven’t read the VN for a while, but didn’t he eventually regain a few of his memories in the UBW route? He vaguely remembered edgeman saving him
David Davis
super secondary question related to this: while I get the Emiya we're familiar with won't remember anything, but, something I've wondered about with the UBW end is:
>Shirou basically surpassed his Emiya-self by the end of UBW (or at least where his previous self had been in skill and ability at that same point in life) >Assuming Shirou still pursues his ideals with Rin and Saber alongside him, he's likely to become that much greater and stronger of a hero down the line
And his relationship to Rin being stronger through the UBW route and it's aftermath, would it be possible a Rin in another cycle of the Fuyuki Grail War ends up summoning a stronger Shirou still who continued from the UBW path? Which potentially leads to UBW Shirou Archer now mentoring his past self, making the past self stronger, leading to a sort of greater-scope cycle of timelines where Shirou just ends up as an increasingly stronger Servant? Or does The World have countermeasures against such semi-paradoxes?
James Torres
UBW Shirou will never become servant-like with Rin having his back. He’ll most likely travel around the world saving lives with Rin. My headcanon is he becomes big boss in the Middle East with Rin
Matthew Cooper
Because the memory wipes pertain to the grail wars. Not to his work as a heroic spirit/counter guardian. And because heroic spirits exist outside of time, Emiya basically gets to remember, fresh in his memory, every single fucking person he's had to kill for the greater good of the world from start, until the earth itself decays into a barren rock and is swallowed by the sun.
Possibly not even then.
Caleb Clark
More Redman suffering pls.
Adrian Foster
It's only eternal suffering and regret if you're a moralfag like Emiya. I don't mind having to be the World's hitman if I get to live forever.
Brandon Cook
The guy himself admits that Saber killing Herc 6 times with a traced Caliburn was an asspull
Henry Morris
>Redman and Lancerthuria All google searching gets me is some spic translation without a title Is this just a short or an actual doujinshi?
Jackson Reyes
You can't say that he didn't get what he asked for. He wanted to be a hero, and now he gets to save the world and possibly all parallel worlds. Eternally.
Jayden Evans
Found it in like 3 seconds. Up your search engine game, user.
Bear with me here. The problem is that your service is ETERNAL. As in, until the stars burn out. Even death is not a release.
From what we've seen, Archer is basically summoned (barring exception like the Grail Wars) to the worst disasters ever, to kill everyone. Once he's done, he's summoned somewhere else again. There is no end, and there's no rest. If he just lets himself get killed, he pops up on another equally desperate battlefield.
A typical example of what he's living through: First day of the Somme, the sacking of Rome, Pompeii, the Children's Crusade, the storm that destroys the Mongol fleet when it tries to invade Japan, Moshul, Normady Beach but in a version of WWII where the Nazis have sorcery, the Battle of the Black Forest.
He gets to do that over and over again, for the rest of eternity.
Kevin Rogers
pixvix shit sempai
Jordan Hill
user that's not headcannon that's what actually happens to Archer. It isn't until years later after saving thousands of people he is betrayed and executed by people he was trying to save. Even then he didn't regret any of it and thought everything he did was right in the end.
It's only after becoming a counter guardian where he becomes the jaded Archer we see in Fate. Since Counter Guardians are more like a clean up crew who only get called in if humanity threatens to drive themselves to extinction.
Julian Davis
It's worse then that. Counter Guardians are a reactionary force. Say some artificial plague is created and it gets out and it is deemed bad enough that the Counter Guardians are forced to intervene. The Counter Guardians don't stop the disease from being created which would save more live instead the Counter Guardians nuke everyone with the disease indiscriminately. stopping the spread.
Owen Stewart
Avalon Shirou is best Shirou.
None of the others can even come close and we're already at like 10 Shirou's.
Charles King
That's Saber's positive influence. She's the living embodiment of his ideals after all.
Brayden Jackson
>The problem is that your service is ETERNAL and he agreed to it, fair and square
he doesent get to bitch that selling his soul sucks when he does it willingly
Angel Bailey
But he didn't know, user.
Leo Scott
Sounds like fun desu. Although I agree that they need vacation days. Counter Guardian union when?
Jayden Gomez
>Every hero basically sold their souls to the world >except Saber How can anyone even compete with King of Knights?
Elijah Brooks
they can't
Luis Gomez
The hell are you talking about? Becoming HS after death is privilege when World recognize you as a hero. You get send to the Throne which is kind of like Valhalla. Only CG sell their soul for power and are Worlds janitors
Mason Cox
but he did, he made a similar deal to seibah
the world dont lie
Cooper Cooper
Grail War Archer is just a weakened copy of the CG EMIYA. EMIYA remembers his eternity of suffering, but he won't remember his time as Archer, and therefore his answer.
Noah Bell
>You get send to the Throne which is kind of like Valhalla Have we actually seen throne of heroes? The only glimpse we got was the hill of swords, that doesnt seem a place where one can spend his afterlife
Cameron Bennett
I can fix that. >Shirou traces a Caliburn without the seals because of his flawed understanding >Essentially an achievement in pure ignorance as this blade is merely a structure and thus a violation it is not subject to the bindings placed >One of its properties is a "Yu-Gi-Oh" card speed-like property in that Heracles's "lives" are used as fast as Caliburn magically "slays" them.
Acceptable?
Parker Sullivan
My impression is that the ToH is like a hard drive for heroic spirits. You get sent there, and nothing happens until you are needed.
Caleb Kelly
>nothing happens until you are needed. Considering they exist outside time axis, their copies are summoned all the time.
Kevin Cruz
Yep, that's part of my hard-drive analogy. When you access something that's stored on your hard drive, that information stays there no matter what.
David Martinez
Likely a stronger archer servant without a wish to murder his past self would end up coddling and creating past archer.
Wyatt Reed
Chance of Shiro becoming redman is almost zero according to word of god. He wont become servant at all if Avalon is canon
Tyler Morales
less living forever than being in a state of death forever.
Jaxson Turner
>Fate/Grand Order is fanfic tier in terms of canon Nigga, FGO is primary canon now. Nasu literally retooled Fate route as the primary route with his new additions to the franchise. It, combined with GoA and Last Episode basically lead up into FGO, which is where all the attention is going.
Robert Thomas
Am I missing something? My impression is that Archer was conscious and aware of his past and present while on the job. He goes on, kills some people, and moves on to the next killing spree.
Andrew Wright
More like he sits in an endless nothingness getting infinite+ updates on the amount of people he's killed in alternate universes, the past, the present, and the future.
Henry Allen
AFAIK he's not unlike the Legion of the Damned in 40k; He appears out of nowhere in places where shit's fucked, massacres the offenders until shit is no longer fucked, then pops up in the next point is spacetime. He's not really quite present of course, but for all intents and purposes he may as well be.
Christian Brooks
What do you mean by that? I'm aware that regular heroic spirits work in a manner similar to what you described (stored in ToH, with a copy summoned for things like HGW) but I thought that Archer was not like that. The way he described it in UBW (yes yes I'm a filthy secondary) makes it seem like he was doing all the work like a regular person would. A regular heroic spirit wouldn't be able to recall all of his/her exploits, but Archer can.
Sebastian Martin
Isn't Counter guardian bit different than regular heroic spirit? He remembered everything that he had to do as the "janitor" and that means countless summonings to clean up.
Hunter Lewis
He fights isis and shit.
Andrew Lewis
I think so as well but I was told by That what we think isn't quite right. Regardless, a summoning in a Holy Grail War is different from what he normally does.
Parker Lewis
EMIYA as heroic spirit acts as a counter guardian right? So he zips around in heroic spirit form and cleaning up after mankind. The thing is that servants arent heroic spirits, servants are summoned by the grail and not the world. Servants are copies of heroic spirits but not the heroic spirits of themselves.
Servant Archer got his answer but after servant Archer disappears the answer disappears with him
Henry Edwards
Don't mistake his counter guardian work with his grail work.
As a CG a copy is summoned, does it's job or fails and the 'original' gets the equivalent of a report/second hand knowledge of what happened.
As a Servant he's essentially kiddies first pirated game that gets to have some fun in a death match before he is quickly deleted before mom and dad (Gaia ad Alaya) throw a fit that he's breaking the rules and thus the 'original' is completely unaware of the versions of him that took art in grail wars.
Samuel Bennett
Which of the three would Emiya save?
Alexander White
He would save male Ritsuka because he is pure and wants to restore humanity.
Noah Cooper
>Servant Archer got his answer but after servant Archer disappears the answer disappears with him That's not true. Archer is a genuine heroic spirit and can access the memories of FSN Archer in the Throne of Heroes if he wishes to. And considering Extra Archer talks a bit about Stay Night I'd like to believe he did.
Aaron Sullivan

Kara no kyoukai was better
Jeremiah Perry
>Assuming everyone who hates Tsukihime is an FGO fan
Well i know someone who didn't read the VN.

no
Carter Wood
Sakura's edgeshit, Ilya and Kotomine are alright actually, but I feel they just don't have as much as a massive impact as Redman does when everything becomes clear. Because it is essentially, by extension, his route, i.e: Shirou's route. It's the one that properly explores everything that he is.
Adrian Bell
>Sakura Boring character, they had to make everyone rape her to try and make anyone care about her stupid shit >Zouken Generic super sadist villain
>Illya and Kotomine Why are you bringing them up, though I'll say Illya should have had a route
Jason Allen
Is Redman the only counter guardian? He's pretty shit at his job honestly.
Adrian Ramirez
Any Grand Servant is part of the counter force.
The problem is that humanity is shit.
Logan Brooks
>Sakura's edge shit but Kotomine isn't Okay Sakurahater
Lincoln Perez
Literal fucking duodenaries in this thread.
Luis Hughes
Sakura's edge is literally built out of pity cause bad things happened to her. Kotomines edge is built out of a desire to find an answer. Even Miyu is a better Sakura than Sakura.
Jace Campbell
Like newfags would even watch DEEN's FSN
Adam Brooks
>>failed Hakunon and jobbed to Velber, letting her die mid-battle I mean to be fair, in that timeline he was already half burnt and half-broken and Hakunon wasn't giving him enough mana. Do you really expect him to somehow give a moon destroying entity a run for its life?
Cameron Cruz
Not an FGOfag, but Tsukishit is from a literary standpoint easily one oi Nasu's weakest works - Kara no Kyoukai is infinitely better and so is the original Fate/Stay Night. The fact that it contain some of the early Takeuchi work that aged like milk, and the VN itself wasn't even that good from a technical standpoint, even back then, with being made by 4 people and shit - definitely doesn't help. People who like it probably do so out of nostalgia and/or waifufaggotry, or do so ironically to piss of pure fatefags.
Isaac Rodriguez
DEEN's FSN skipped that and most of the scenes with Shirou and Archer/Kotomine that foreshadow the UBW (Archer) and HF (Kotomine) route. Nasu wanted to focus on the boy meets a girl love story for DEEN FSN.
Another reason why fans wanted Ufo to re-adapt it
Jonathan Allen
All three of them. But it is cannon that he went HERO OF JUSTICE for Hakunon so that he can give her a satisfactory ending
