Hell yeah. Very underrated show. Duke Fleed's character has a lot of thematic depth, dealiing with terminal illness, war trauma, adapting as a refugee. It feels very relevant even today, honestly. I also love the indulgent 70s sci-fi aesthetic with transforming UFO robots. Also cool to see Kouji return as a cooler ace-pilot type. His relationship with Duke and the rest of the cast is handled very thoroughly as well. I could on on and on about Grendizer. Even the manga has arguably the best moments of the trilogy, with lots of crossovers and great dynamic artwork.

Thanks for these, user. They were an interesting watch. Muramasa was my favourite of the bunch. Jumping really reminds me of how Tezuka and the other fathers of the medium like Nakazawa were really hellbent on pushing an anti-war message in the majority of their work. I'm not really a fan of it, if I'm honest. I understand that Hiroshima probably had a profound affect on these creators minds (Nakazawa was a survivor of the bombings), but their commentary doesn't really go any deeper than "war is bad", and the simplistic animation means that it isn't delivered with much power. Jumping fairs slightly better due to the pure shock value of it coming out of nowhere.

I mainly recommend Jumping for the technical aspects, though I do feel it keeps the war message fairly subtle. There's not much commentary other than "this exists."
