Mangadex

So the group scanlating the Kaguya manga have forcibly requested numerous recent chapters to be removed from Mangadex, claiming they don't want their work shown there.

Not only this but other chapters of other works, such as the Nagatoro bath omake, have gone missing from the site.

Is this reader already falling apart? Why are groups refusing to let their work be displayed? Why are random chapters going missing? Should we all just give up and use private trackers and download the manga even if its a comparative ballache?

>have forcibly requested numerous recent chapters to be removed from Mangadex
Or what?
Are they gonna send a DMCA request?

>remove our translations of illegally replicated works OR ELSE!
Oh no what ever shall we do?
Fucking idiots.

God knows, but the last ten chapters or so got shot off and that's the only explanation I've found.

From what I understand they haven't got anything to back up the threat other than the general defamation that would go with not listening to their request, and since mangadex are trying to be the 'good guy' reader site, thats all they need. It fuckin' sucks.

I can't tell why this Jaimini's box deal is so important. They have been saying they want to see how Mangadex turns out, but with how positively it's been received it seems more like they want traffic to go to Jamini's box. Scanlators do great work but it's strange how these things can be treated like corporate promotion deals.

Besides that, Mangadex looks like it's doing okay. The new servers are great too (Or I've just been noticing a speed increase). It could fall apart any time now but seems like that's a while away. Apparently Nagatoro omake 2 wasn't up to snuff and are coming back soon. Quote:

>Please do not post these to MangaDex. We have some things to fix before we do so.

>Scanlation drama episode 24325357568
Why do they literally never fucking learn???
All their traffic will go to pirate sites.

Ah, cheers man, that clears up a lot, I couldn't find much out myself and felt a little stumped so dumped what I knew here to ask around. It is a shame Jamini are pulling Kaguya from the site for some reason and could do with just, I don't know, taking the self importance down a notch but whatever.
At the end of the day scanlators do what they do because they like the manga and want to share it [or at least I'd hope thats the case more often than not], but in a way I can understand why they want people to come to them for it to get the recognition for their work. Still, it is a shame.

It's the usual shit. Happened with batoto too. If a site wants to be a centralized hub that groups want to use and support, the site has to play along when some group says they don't want their shit there. The difference between a site like this and your average pirate site is literally just that this site respects scanlators' wishes, no matter how big fags they're being.

why is mangadex becoming popular? the layout fucking sucks, no dark theme, terrible search bar, no way to sort series and the tag search is mediocre at best. Languages for various series are also being fucking mixed. It's use of icons with no description is fucking stupid. It doesn't even allow loading of all images in a single chapter within a single page by default but this is such a minor issue.
This site was released way too early or the creator clearly overestimated their programming skills. There are other sites out there that are way better and actually functional. I would be ashamed if I ever had to release something of this quality.

>autistic scanlator drama at it again
eh

>Muh pirated original content
Are they for real?

why are scanlators such a bunch of little bitches?

is ok Kissmanga, I still like you

JB were always shady. I remember them trying to sell some stuff they either scanlated or subbed. Nevertheless they do ok translating job. Sad that Clear Card is dropped.

People latched onto the first barely functional site that popped up. Their only competitor manga.sh didn't work at all and soon after dex's success became a mobile site and then finally died.
>Languages for various series are also being fucking mixed.
That I'm pretty sure can be fixed in the settings

>all images in a single chapter within a single page
the only reason I need to always use kissmanga

>It doesn't even allow loading of all images in a single chapter within a single page by default
Why the fuck would anyone want that be the default

i think theres a dark theme but i only used the site like 2 times since it was so slow

>There are other sites out there that are way better and actually functional.

Do those sites LQ resize images filling them with artifacts to save space? If they do they're trash regardless of layouts and search functionalities.

>no dark theme
I think it's had a dark theme since the second week it went online.

Redditors and jews - bad news.

Does mangadex compress the images?

No

huh, I always thought mangadex looked crisper, guess this explains why.

Most "online reader" sites are pieces of shit who use bots to automatically rip uploads, resize them to like 60% quality to greatly reduce space and save money and then upload.

>find manga which has scans in png in original release on scanlator site
>check reader if it too has scans in png
>if it do - it doesn't resave scans in LQ jpg
>if it doesn't - it resave scans in LQ jpg

What shitty group even is it? It's laughable considering what they do

This fucker

Attached: edd.png (501x791, 178K)

You can do that too if you register.

Fanscan, aka Jaimini.

Cant they respect only non-fag wishes?

Attached: xD7.jpg (588x440, 81K)

>dark theme
make account, change in settings.
>all pages on one site
settings
>language filter
settings

I'll just wait that some fag dump it here anyway

Pirating official scans is the way to go

That explains it

Attached: Daft Punk.jpg (1600x1200, 842K)

This, why haven't people actually checked their shit before complaining?

Almost makes you appreciate mangafox, doesn't it?

Nothing would ever make me appreciate that shithole.

>Jaimini
These faggots somehow manage to push out translations with lower quality than MangaStream, and they dropped pretty much all of their older projects for that
Dumb petty faggots

Attached: 1456761732915.jpg (657x527, 34K)

Why the hell is there so much drama around KAGUYA specifically? God damn since Jag left us that series has been in hell.

No, mangafox still resizes and watermarks their images.

Mangafox is literal cancer

It's pretty much the same drama, because the people stirring shit up are the same.

How can they even do this? You have no copyright over something that already infringes copyright.

They could make 7 week wait like Sense scans instead.

*day wait

I miss Jag.

>the layout fucking sucks
Have a list of manga you follow
>no dark theme
There is, and I'm using it right now. Since, like, Day 2 or 3.
>terrible search bar
It's a box up top you type letters into. What?
>no way to sort series
Recent, genres, alphabetical...what?
>the tag search is mediocre at best
It's not really the site's fault if people aren't tagging the manga themselves. They just host.
>Languages being mixed
So go into your profile and say "Only English" dumbass.
>It's use of icons with no descriptions is stupid
You mean the single eyeball of "I've seen this already" is the single icon you don't like since it was introduced a couple days ago and didn't know what it meant so you felt stupid? I wonder what your tolerance for "unknown" is, geez. You're like the type of person who can't other people who have accents; like they're pronouncing everything wrong and you hate them for it.

I could keep going, but you just hate that your old fav, tomato, is gone.

...I'm not.

Because ad/patreonbux.

Technically speaking, if you translate something, you own the rights to the translation (hence, official translators can't just use fan-translations without permission)
But yeah, honestly, what're they gonna do?

I mean, ethics and all that shit, but not like a scanlator group will really file a DMCA for an unlicensed translation, even if they own the copyright to that translation (and nothing more).

One group won't matter, but if it happens more often and they ignore the scanlators' wishes, Mangadex will earn a reputation for not giving a shit about scanlators.

>Mangadex will earn a reputation for not giving a shit about scanlators.
And this is bad because?

Because scanlators are bunch of drama queen and they will stop scanlating for EOPs

There are plenty of sites who didn't and never will give a fuck anyway.

Because they want to be an aggregator site for groups to upload there without having to resort to just taking their releases without consent.

>Technically speaking, if you translate something, you own the rights to the translation (hence, official translators can't just use fan-translations without permission)
Nope. This is worthless without the permission to translate the work in the first place.

The only problem would be, if a legitimately licensed translation company used the fan translation in their translation.

Mangadex is fine after the server update. Using Mangaupdates with direct links to chapters solves the terrible frontpage layout issue.

>Mangadex still doesn't support series with multiple artists (it treats them as one giant author)

Is this basic feature ever going to be fucking fixed, or will Holo focus on adding trivial shit?

Custom script? I never even look at MU, I just use a RSS I hacked together that filters out most of the garbage (like LNs).

Yes, it's worthless, because you still did something technically not legal to create the translation, but still own the copyright. If someone stole your cocain, you're not going to report them. (Although, that's a much more extreme case that would work differently anyways)

In any case, like I said, licensed publishers can still use fan-translations, as long as they get the translator to sign over the rights to the translation, which does happen.

>Batoto 2.0 becomes Batoto
Why is this surprising? If only we could get a "professional" looking site like Mangadex but with the "not give a fuck" attitude of Kissmanga. As it is, I'll stick with Kissmanga. At least that's a manga aggregator that aggregates manga. Mangadex has too many annoying Batoto-quirks already.

>the "not give a fuck" attitude of Kissmanga
Don't they censor manga or something along those lines?

I recall several pages of Nectar being removed.

Kissmanga's shit because you have to get on your facebook account and ask them to upload stuff. Also they only carry one version of each chapter, so v2s or other groups are shit out of luck.

I have no idea about that. But that sucks if true. Oh well.

I don't know if it was intentional, but I know sometimes some pages are missing from a chapter.

This. Makes no sense. Do you have actual proof they asked for it to be removed or are you just talking out of your ass?

Group leader have control over their releases on mangadex. Mangadex is not an aggregator but free manga gallery in the first place. OP is the downside, but good part is that its the default source by now.

>All their traffic will go to pirate sites.
I chuckled.

>letting redditor scans win
shiggy diggy

>please stop visiting Mangadex and come to our crappy website filled with ads, so we can make money out of copyrighted material
I just simply gave up with Mangadex. It's a shame since I like the site and all, but I can't be arsed to bookmark something and having it deleted the next day/week, just because the group or one of their members got butthurt with not being able to monetize their releases as they want or some stupid drama that nobody gives a shit about.

Right now, I'm using Tachiyomi with MangaSee as my main source on my tablet, and so far I have no complaints.

Don't forget the
>Why are you trying to profiteer from copyright material?
>We're totally not making a profit, we need money to cover our server costs
>What server costs do you have?
>The ones required by our online manga reader
>Wouldn't putting your releases on a third-party manga reader solve that problem entirely?
>NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND

Why do scanlators suddenly have a stick up their ass?
No one had a problem with batoto but mangadex which is doing the same thing is facing a lot more issues.

>Donation
>Patreon
>Banner ads
>Online reader
>Ask only scanlator-friendly site to remove chapters to increase your own ad revenue, even if other online readers pirate anyway.
Go fuck yourself Scanlator F.

Alternatively:
>EVERYONE has to use Mangadex (and give them ad revenue) because ... they have server costs!
>1000 * "WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO UPLOAD YOUR CHAPTERS NOW THAT BATOTO IS DEAD?"
>INB4: 1000 * "WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO UPLOAD YOUR CHAPTERS NOW THAT MANGADEX IS DEAD?"
Use Mangaupdates you dumb fucks. There are even userscripts for it.

Admittedly, doki is funding mangadex through the sale of seedboxes and not through ads right now.
They've even stated that ads will be a last resort when it comes to funding.
Bets on how long that self-restraint will last?
I'm saying half a year.

Not true. OPM has like eight v2s.

>No one had a problem with batoto but mangadex which is doing the same thing is facing a lot more issues.
Gotta get all that juicy ad revenue and those steamy reddit upvotes somehow.

Not to mention the fact that some groups just love putting their logo as fucking big as possible above their reader, so they can remind you constantly about how you are reading that manga thanks to them, and how you should give them some bucks through Patreon as a reward.

Mangadex is owned by Doki while batoto was owned by someone who didn't do scanlations for a while, so I imagine the bigger, scummier groups are spooked by that.

Which just makes them a bigger and justifiable target for lawyers.

who had not done* scanlations for a while

What if I reupload their shit and call it Sup Forumsnonymous

Don't, call it jaimini's pirate treasure box.

Do it, but reword some prhases just to piss them off, jamini's as a whole don't care the one that does is the faggot that's also part of fans scans.

No, jaimini removed their bokuben release from mangadex (and their other releases too, I guess)

Funny thread
>one of the most toxic groups in the scene does the usual shit
>halfdone omake got deleted
>TEH END IS NEAH
>EVERYONE EVACUATE FROM MANGADEX ASAP
>to my favorite reader/app/script/spyware

kill yourself, op

So jaimini want people to go to their site than mangadex? I dont understand, if mangadex will not work they will go to sites like kissmanga or something. This does not solve what they want at all. Its literally a child throwing a tantrum about someone stealing his toy, when he himself stole it from someone else

I dont usually pay attention to tl groups, but how toxic is jamini?

Any other shit they done? Were they the reason why the old tl for kaguya left?

Been mentioned in this very thread several times.
They are definitely trash-tier from the scanlation scene perspective.

Nothing of value was lost. Batoto already honored group removal requests. If Mangadex is a replacement for Batoto, why would this signify the site "falling apart."

Attached: 1464476429286.jpg (1000x600, 350K)

I've been reading whatever uploads to the secret club site, and that hasn't failed me yet for new chapters of anything. Last I went to Mangadex, absolutely NOTHING I read had any chapters uploaded. I had also assumed it was going to die right away since there was that other site, but I can't even remember what the other one was called.

>I had also assumed it was going to die right away since there was that other site, but I can't even remember what the other one was called.
manga.sh.
They were the ones that died.

Instead of complaining that mangadex doesn't have anything, you could upload the chapters held on the goddess.
/s

>manga.sh
>dead
Pantsu dev as usual.

>Remember, we dont scan just for us, but for the community!

Jesus fucking christ, I didnt think there were people as shameless as this
They didnt try to smooth it out like "buy us a pizza!" or anything

Since they picked up on their own fucking accord, shouldnt they be at least feel somewhat responisble for it?

I cant believe Sup Forumsnonscans lose Kaguya to this group
fucking kek

some series I read have gaps between the latest chapter and the last one that was on batoto, or shitty mangahere copies, I've grabbed them from mangadex but since goddess isn't giving out upload anymore I can't put them up

I'm fairly sure one of the guys who translates Danchigai on here has upload on the goddess.
Ask them about it whenever they're next on.

No I don't.

My mistake

Attached: Sorry.jpg (300x434, 52K)

>why are blank such a bunch of little bitches?
It's hardly unique to scanlators. Anything even slightly related to some sort of artistic effort tied to a community produces a bunch of petty bullshit like this. Webcomic artists, videogame mod makers, even the fucking SFM porn animators have people being unreasonable, egotistical little drama queens about the most inane of shit. It takes a certain kind of personality to invest ones time in doing stuff like this and for better or worse there's a tendency towards an over inflated opinion of oneself and ones work coupled with the thinnest skin imaginable.

There's some alright people out there. EverydayHeroes seems to be on the level, doing what they have to to avoid getting whacked but also providing their translations to readers as easily as they can, going back and forth on uploads and reader sites as necessary and being quick about it. People seem to like STALKER too, or perhaps the typical Sup Forums "namefag what gets shit done" honeymoon period is still in effect. Didn't the MonMusume people have some translator waifu for a bit? I don't really hangout there so I can't say what was up with that. Some people are just bitches, and this is just the human condition.
