42 in Japanese is Shini.
Shini also means death. 4 in particular refers to death in many Asian languages (where Chinese people for example build skyscrapers without any floor that has a digit 4 in them). But Japanese people also hate the idea of becoming 42 years old.
You don't see them die, but it's pretty obvious.
